You can however use your hotmail account for your paypal/google checkout info though in your profile. it's just you won't get your registration confirmation using hotmail. thanks

Ha, I never thought of using a french accent! Actually it's pronounced "Fair Queue" fyi. As far as being an unnecessary service, you'd be surprised how many people like it.

Yeah, admittedly, the user interface isn't the best as it's not that intuitive, but check out the FAQ section and that should give you an idea of what it does.

Hi there, this actually isn't an art management system and rather it's an online lottery system. It's free to use as well.

You are not being paranoid at all. You have to be very careful whom you give your details to.
Personally I think itโs a solution to a problem that may actually make matters worse. The issue with many sort-after prints is simply supply out strips demand. The POW release went pretty smoothly, granted it sold out quickly but I donโt see how a lottery system would increase someoneโs odds of obtaining a print? Isnโt it already a lottery? If anything I think it will reduce the odds of picking up one, as you'll get more people trying as it takes no effort.

If you haven't already...you should register now, by Deleted on Nov 12, 2007 4:23:33 GMT 1, I think this is a great system for people who haven't had a chance at getting a print in the past to now have a shot. The odds may decrease for people who are able to sit in front of their computers all day. But, I think for new fans who aren't familiar with the F5 system, this is a great opportunity. I'm sure a lot of people will complain about the outcome, but I think that there will be a new crop of collectors entering the scene as well.
As for the personal details. Nothing you provide to the system can be used against you. Only the Q owner (ie the person who sets up the Q) is privy to the details you volunteer to show. No one in the general public can access your information.

Buying a print is swings and roundabouts, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. But I would much rather leave it to chance than some lottery system I know nothing about. I mean who decides the winners? Any adjudicators to ensure itโs all done fairly?

I think there are just as many people who would take the other side of the argument as well. As far as how the selection process is done. It's based off a random number generator system. No human has influence on the selection process. No different than picking names out of a hat.
Also, FairQ doesn't guarantee anything. All it does is select people from a list. The person that sets up the lottery has final say.
Unfortunately, PWC, Ernst & Young, and Delloite's were unable to lend their time to audit the process. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

If you haven't already...you should register now, by holden on Nov 12, 2007 6:11:13 GMT 1, I've asked before, but got no takers, so what do you thinks the best way to sell prints? The POW october month of torment was, IMO sad (altho it went well, a tad fast, when it did finally happen) No one seems to want to collect (avidly) unlimited prints No one wants to queue in p*ss alley Last Faile release didnt go so well Secret lists are unappealing to new collectors 1000 prints to flood the market, hey maybe, but the joy of Faile is the limited hand finished quality Secondary market sucks Choe release was from an unexpected page/print house (not too sure, cant remember the specifics of the complaining??)
So what is the best way? I read a fair bit of this newest system is 'iffy' for various reasons, but it seems to me to be a more level playing field and the ultimate lottery. Why's that bad?

Just as random and open to other influences as other systems, as you say Holden, I dont have a problem with it and it stopps me having to sit in front of the PC for days at a time, as once signed up, if it happens it happens.... As for your original question, there isnt any correct answer to the best way to sell limited prints, as there will always be winners and losers, the winners will stick up for the system as long as they are winners and the loosers will always decry the situation, pointing out the injustice of them not getting a print, its human nature and the way of the world unfortunately.

The prints being sold will most likely be sought after ones, and FairQ are selecting the people from a list, so a body needs to be there to ensure it's all done above board. The National Lottery has one when it picks it's number and I see this as being no different.

I don't disagree at all. But, the difference is that this is a direct to user application so depending on the specific Q, the terms will vary. There are some other people doing lotteries (Fussshop.co.uk being one) and this simply automates the process.
The last thing I'll add is that the system was built to provide an alternative to sitting in front of your computers and F5ing. I think most of us will agree that there's a lot of wasted effort around this and more times than none results in frustration. I hope you guys will give this system a chance and we can discuss after the upcoming trial. Thanks

If you haven't already...you should register now, by Vsix on Nov 12, 2007 17:11:43 GMT 1, This all seems a bit worrying to me! On the Faile site it says that you can buy (depending upon the lottery) 1 per person. Yet the indications with FairQ is that if they see the same IP address used again or street address, etc. then you will be removed from the Queue. I understand this is helpful to stop people abusing the system and applying for multiple entries. But it does discriminate against our wives and girlfriends In the past my wife has also managed to purchase faile prints for her own collection, but with this system it may cause both of us to get rejected!! Also how secure is this Data on the FairQ system, it seems that a lot of details are required just to join a lottery system, I just hope people are sensible enough to use a different password than they would use for their PayPal login ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
