Insurance Valuations, by robinbanks on Nov 13, 2007 12:04:18 GMT 1, Hello everyone.
Can I just start by saying what great forum this is - I've learned so much in the last few weeks. I've always been an admirer of Banksy but had no idea he had such a devoted following.
Anyway, getting to the point, I own a framed (acid free/uv glass etc...) "Bomb Middle England". I bought it right back at the start of 2003 for £39.99 and I guessed it might be worth a couple of hundred quid by now - turns out I was wrong ;D.
So it looks like I'm gonna have to get it listed on my insurance now. The question is how much for? And I'm guessing it needs to be a valuation for 12 months time and not just todays prices - because that's the duration of the policy?
I also have a framed, unsigned Ryan McGinness "This Dream Is So Life-Like" printed by Artomatic 2002/03 (I think). As far as I know none of them were numbered and very few were signed, and the print run was very small. Anyone got a ballpark figure for that one, or know of where I might be able to get one?
All advice/comments/general banter is very welcome indeed!!

Haha - a very generous offer indeed, but I think I'll keep hold of it for now. At least until I'm financially crippled by the insurance premiums.

Insurance Valuations, by spenie1975 on Nov 13, 2007 12:46:41 GMT 1, I insured though a company called andinsure, preston. The policy was a Home and Legacy Portfolio contract. They include cover for fine art( anything of a collectable nature). Items only need to be listed if over £ 15000. They also have an inflation clause for an increase in up to 200 % of the original declared value to take into account changes in the art market. Hope this helps

Insurance Valuations, by dmandpenfold on Nov 13, 2007 13:05:07 GMT 1, yes do tell, the inflation clause sounds particularly handy, although with a banksy print release, 200% might not cut the mustard

Insurance Valuations, by spenie1975 on Nov 13, 2007 13:06:34 GMT 1, From memory the premium's start from around £ 400.00 for both buildings and contents, all depending on the levels of cover. mine included a few prints and a decent sized record collection. Premium was around £ 430 Ish. with a watch covered away from home. So not too bad.

Insurance Valuations, by CR on Nov 13, 2007 13:14:02 GMT 1, I already have home and contents insurance, is there anywhere where I can get an online quote, just for my prints, to get an idea of how much it will cost me?
Thanks CR

Excellent link there Thomas - thank you very much. +1 thingy coming your way (once I work out how to do it).
They're quoting half of what my current insurer offered - so I think I'll pop over to the £50 thread and spend what I've saved!!
I was gonna value my BME at around £2.5k.
And my Ryan McGinness "TDISLL" at £1.5k.
Does anyone reckon that's about right - given that the prices are only likely to go up in the next 12 months??
