Applause on Ebay, by pw on Apr 5, 2007 14:11:50 GMT 1, the seller is very cagey and won't give out the name of the original owner. all seems a bit iffy to me. its already been relisted because of a nonpaying buyer so I can only assume that the story doesn't check out...

Applause on Ebay, by monkeypuzzle on Apr 5, 2007 14:19:49 GMT 1, thats a generous gift! i can't believe the owner doesn't contact POW to get it numbered. What number would you put on it, it was a gift and outwith the numbered run. If, as they say, they were given a signed unnumbered gift it would have been from Banksy / banksy's team and not POW. They do pop up every now and again, but nothing to do with POW and not POWs place to start numbering things left right and center. Just a tad ungreatful to be selling such a nice prezzie, wish I got prezzies like that....

Applause on Ebay, by mwjm0 on Apr 5, 2007 14:33:38 GMT 1, why is it POW stamped if it has nothing to do with POW, presumably this must have been printed at the same time as the rest. An AP i can understand but not unumbered!

Usually after a bunfight they send them straight out. Have had mine within 48 hours before
I have a feeling they a delaying so they can double check on double ordering which seems to be true as certain people have found to their cost on this forum and it also means that those that are on E bay now can still be wheedled out.
If they post them next week after the holidays most of the current e bay listings will have finished.
Its hard to sell a print you dont actually have :-)

Applause on Ebay, by policeaware on Apr 6, 2007 9:24:14 GMT 1, Absolutely no chance of POW numbering a print later unless they have the paper trail and the number was simply missed off.
Even if the print was gifted POW will not give it provenance for the very reason it was a gift. There was a situation last year where someone tried to get a gifted print approved & numbered by POW and they, quite rightly, refused.

Applause on Ebay, by policeaware on Apr 8, 2007 10:07:29 GMT 1, The signed, un-numbered applause has now been listed for the third time.
Not a good sign at all for a print that has a buy it now of £2600 compared to another currently at £4000.
There is something seriously amiss with this listing especially if 3 people have now passed up on the opportunity of what first appears to be a bargain.
If you've got £2600 to spend on a poster go for it but otherwise steer well clear.

Applause on Ebay, by neutral on Apr 8, 2007 18:07:55 GMT 1, I remember once Artificial had a signed soup can with a heart instead of a number inside the pow stamp. Could it be the same case here, no numbering yet genuine ?

Applause on Ebay, by neutral on Apr 8, 2007 18:49:08 GMT 1, Emailed the seller too. She has received it by a friend of her and she does not want to say much more about from where exactly it does come from, even tho the image is pretty clear... Seems genuine but yet without paper work. @ 2.6K it is a bit of a shame to do not have any physical history.

that was a gift to charity if memory serves me right. this is akin to a gift between friends. if you have money to burn it might be worth a punt? never gonna hold the same value as a regular signed applause, but the fact it's genuine can surely not be disputed. in the future, as a purely financial standpoint, it may well stand up better as it has a signature and is stamped, yet no number.
not for me, at any price - would rather an un-signed numbered print. doesn't mean to say someone couldn't make a healthy profit from an educated gamble.
looks like i'm not the only one who would think twice though
it begs the question though: in the current climate surrounding signed banksy prints, does that logic still stand up when outside of the main (only) edition? how much more than an unsigned numbered print would you pay for a signed un-numbered print?

Applause on Ebay, by neutral on Apr 8, 2007 20:36:18 GMT 1, I will not take the plunge, yet it got me thinking. Regardless the numbering on this example, I am sure this signed copy will stand better value than unsigned one. Yet if I have to spend 2.6K, I will do so on something else...

The last three unsigned Applause prints went for £589, £600, & £605, so £618 would be fair but not a bargain.

Applause on Ebay, by BME on Apr 9, 2007 8:46:28 GMT 1, I emailed the seller- she's not giving much away. If you've got a piece with questionable provenance surely you should be forthcoming about exactly how you got it and who gave it to you- the signature looks okay but I still wouldn't touch it...

ditto that. if it was a gift and bought from PoW and they "forgot" to number it, i'm sure it could be sent back to be fixed. Plus, if you are going to give a "gift" (a nice gift) to someone, would the gifter not be somewhat curious to know the number of the print. Or, upon getting the print seeing it was not numbered then contact PoW? All a bit odd.
