Miss the good ol' days, by RBK on Dec 13, 2006 18:45:28 GMT 1, Anyone else tired of what the Banksy scene has become?
I'm tired of checking POW all the out of fear that the next print I want is going to sell out in under 30 minutes. I'm tired of all the talk about "this is a great investment" in Ebay listings (didn't know people could predict the future!). I'm tired of all the talk about prices, and not about the art on both forums. I'm tired that Banksy hasn't done any new street art. I'm tired of seeing non-Banksy related items with Banksy in the Ebay item's title. I'm tired of seeing the same argument about people buying & selling. I'm tired of threads getting off topic within a few posts. And lastly, I'm tired of waiting to see if Trolleys is going to be more colorful & when it is going to be released.

Miss the good ol' days, by foundation on Dec 13, 2006 19:49:22 GMT 1, I get tired of wading through lots of pointless discussions / possible info / insider knowledge from folk who blantantly are full of shat-at. If folk know something to be fact then help someone and say it when they ask a sensible question. Keep the BS and bickering for the playground where it belongs, and FFS for "insurance " quotes on prices find someone who cares.

Miss the good ol' days, by RBK on Dec 13, 2006 19:59:36 GMT 1, Seeing as there is no other way to get the prints at cost - I can't fight it. Just remember the good ol' days of being able to mull over the decision. And I agree Foundation!

gentรacardi on Dec 13, 2006 20:10:14 GMT 1, Mostly, I'm just tired of the fact that I'm still crazy about Banksy's work when it's so unattainable and quite frankly costs waaaayyyyy too much trouble and frustration than it's worth. And I'm tired of Banksy's popularity, which has attracted investor bastards and made 'value' a much greater deal over the quality/nature/artistic-ness of the work, which has in turn suffocated genuine fans who would remain huge fans even if his work was worth crap. Personally, I don't see why 'value' has to go hand-in-hand with 'art'.
As for the forum discussions/topics/etc., this is what happens when a forum grows to this size. More people = more topics raised (irrelevant or otherwise) = more potential for head-butting. Nothing we can do about it but get used to it, 'cos it's not gonna change.

Miss the good ol' days, by gm on Dec 13, 2006 20:10:49 GMT 1, Not particularly aimed at you, RK, but in general...
I've recently been forced to assess wants against needs. Nothing earth shattering is going to happen to anyone who doesn't get a print that they want, at cost or otherwise. Nobody has a physical need for them. The more I read on this forum the more pissed off I get. Therefore I stop.
For a while anyway. Probably see you in the new year, or on that other much quieter "Banksy Stablemate" forum that I frequent.
However, before I peace off I just want to say:
I quite like Eine's trains.
Don't all faint at once

Miss the good ol' days, by RBK on Dec 13, 2006 20:20:27 GMT 1, Completely agree with you GM about wants vs. needs. I am actually quite content with my Banksy collection. I prefer the older prints to the newer ones anyways. The only future one I want is Trolley's - but only if it is more colorful.
That is why I'm already into other artists - Logan Hicks, and other non-POW artists.
And while we are on the topic of bold comments that will make people faint... Do you know which is one of my favorite Banksy prints I don't own is??? I Fought The Law

Yeah, I love it though, epitomises the whole thing for me. Think they go for around 800-900 unsigned.

Miss the good ol' days, by knox on Dec 13, 2006 23:02:23 GMT 1, I know it has been mentioned in months gone by but people lamenting over the good old days sound like fans of bands who have now made it big. Its the same thing, if you want to participate still then do what is no required...on the internet all day. If not find a new artist that brings you joy...find another band you want to hear. There are always more out there. Yes Banksy is now big, be happy for the fact you have an eye for good work. Appreciate the fact you have prints that if it came to it you could sell for a lot more than you paid for them. I've three or four that I am keeping hold of for a while then I will sell when the time comes to put down the deposit for my first home. If that makes me less of a fan then I aint really bothered.

Miss the good ol' days, by RBK on Dec 13, 2006 23:07:42 GMT 1, knox - Did you even read the thread from the beginning? I agree with you - I'm already onto different artists.
I think that is great that you will be able to use them to fund a life changing event. The reason you first got them was because you liked them - despite their worth. I respect that - and always tell people they should buy what they'd like to have hanging on their walls - even if it were worth nothing.

Miss the good ol' days, by spence on Dec 20, 2006 8:51:04 GMT 1, Anyone else tired of what the Banksy scene has become?
Ditto.....thats why i don't post or look here much anymore. Seems to be a lot of endless drival of i got this, i got that, how much is this worth. Even missed ยฃ100 banksy what was that about, i got bored reading the comments. Another seems to have been released i didn't know about as Ebay is slattered with them. Any comments worth reading are lost in a sea of crap.

People are are saying the same things now, and I would predict they will be saying the same in 10 years from now.
"The good ol' days" are still here right now! You can buy really great art for under ยฃ100 and even under ยฃ50, it's just many people have changed, and just don't see and support the new up and coming artists, just like Banksy once was.

I think a lot of members go through maybe two or three years of being active, and then due to work or family commitments they move on.
