skateboarding street art, by Deleted on Nov 14, 2010 13:44:49 GMT 1, used to skate a lot myself (not that good!) and watched a million skateboard movies.. stumbled upon this movie a couple of minutes ago and just want to share. It is great to see there are still new ideas about tricks and very elegant execution!
enjoy!

skateboarding street art, by alexnh123 on Nov 15, 2010 22:22:25 GMT 1, I think the following street artists are all quite inspired by skateboarding from what i understand; dface obey ace bast pure evil there may be more i don't know. it seems they have a similar feel to their work so there may be something in it. It would seem a lot of graffit writers are more inspired by hip hop, particularly break dancing, and maybe street artists are more inspired by punk and skateboarding. either way i think there is a link. having said that i think panik from atg was a skateboarder.

skateboarding street art, by MGK1 on Nov 15, 2010 22:37:25 GMT 1, i used to be a proper punk when i was younger, i had a mohawk and everything. I've completely dropped the image but still love the music...it did'nt inspire me to collect/do art though, is anyone else a punk fan

skateboarding street art, by Replete on Nov 15, 2010 22:53:47 GMT 1, I posted the other Kilian Martin video up on my site a while back. And I know a load of graffiti writers who were/are skateboarders including myself and I have the totally destroyed knees to show for my decades jumping off things and we are both into the elements of hip hop, punk and skateboarding combined.
Pretty much all of these tricks aren't new, infact quite the opposite as they're mostly freestyle tricks developed from the 70's onwards most of them invented by Rodney Mullen and some of the 80's favourites fingerflips and foot plants thrown in for good measure.
Always good to see skating in Barcelona as it brings back loads of happy memories painting and skating at the same spots on the video.

skateboarding street art, by Replete on Nov 15, 2010 23:13:12 GMT 1, you cant beat Jeremy Fish as probably the most instrumental skateboard artist who spawned a myriad of imitators:
