Street art and the green revolution, by joshkeyes on Apr 1, 2008 21:10:09 GMT 1, Greetings,
I am waiting for the street art movement to fuse with the green movement. I think it's only a matter of time. In terms of materials a majority of spray pants contain cfc's , chlorofluorocarbons which eat away at the ozone layer.
There must be some spray paint manufacturers out there who make "safe" spray paint. The problem is in the propellant.
One idea I had would be to create a form of spray paint or material that would echo the stuff they spray along freeways or roads to promote plant growth. It seems to be a combination of seeds, fertilizer, and some kind of binder. The idea is, and this would apply to the more traditional form of street art and not to the stencil work though there might be a way to incorporate the effect into the overall concept of the piece, like swamp thing.
Basically the spray paint would come out like spray paint but would be organic and alive, it would adhere to the surface and grow over time, like the surface of a chia pet. It might not be as vandalrific as paint but would carry a new message through the medium of organic growth.
Another option would be to plant a massive garden with trees and shrubberies "Neep" in front of and blocking a strip mall entrance "Neep".

Funnily enough - i have just finished a piece that is referencing the green issues of today !!
Using my favourite : Belton Molotow premium
CFC free !!!
the only choice in my book !!
Just got to find some organic free range canvas now
also have you ever used that mixture you can make with moss and natural yogurt -- liquidised - paint - and over time the moss grows !! very organic indeed ...

Thats right, you must have too much time on your hands . ;D You should be painting more for the up and coming shows. My names on as many lists possible.

Not to worry, I am painting up a storm, I just did a google search of "Dragons Den" and "Theo" and "UK" and that show came up. I assume that is what you were referring to it looks like an interesting show. I will check it out when I have some down time.

Street art and the green revolution, by top on Apr 2, 2008 10:11:28 GMT 1, I've been part of the Green Revolution for a long time now..
..however, I feel it is a little different to the one that Josh mentioned
;D ;D ;D
I'm sure as SPQR mentioned, CFC free spray will be commonplace soon enough..
I would imagine most Graff artists etc will make the right choice as its all about Politics and World peace and harmony

Street art and the green revolution, by alsbabar on Apr 2, 2008 18:53:14 GMT 1, like with most things that are eco friendly, ie organic food, hydrocars, wind turbines for electricity, does this mean art prices will go up to reflect this trend???
