BBC about preserving Graffiti, by Fake on Sept 8, 2009 10:31:15 GMT 1, In Bristol, the home of the artist Banksy, graffiti has been elevated to an art-form.
A couple of years ago, the local council there accidentally painted over a mural by Banksy, which was estimated to be worth ยฃ100,000.
To avoid further embarrassment, it is letting local residents vote on whether the graffiti in their area should be scrubbed off the walls or kept for posterity.

BBC about preserving Graffiti, by G-Man on Sept 8, 2009 13:12:41 GMT 1, I guess it is a step in the right direction?
My worry is that most people who live nearby and therefore get to decide wont be fans of the art
Fairplay for letting them decide though
