K74 in the Middle East, by kay7four on Jul 3, 2009 1:32:27 GMT 1, Whats up folks...
Its been a while...I arrived in Israel a week or so ago and have been hitting the streets. Let me tell you, the scene is fucking jumping in Tel Aviv. But that is not why I am posting this thread.
I wanted to say that when I came out here I didnt know what to expect, I didnt know how I would be received. I didnt know if what was going on in other parts of the world as well as here was going to affect me.
I know that most people have a certain view or opinion about Israel and its people and I am no different. I was born here but have never lived here and have never really fully understood what daily life is like for both Israelis and Palestinians. My time here has opened my eyes and I have seen Palestinians that have been so gracious and so warm and I have met Israelis that all they can talk about is peace with our neighbors. Israelis and Palestinians live together in most towns and work with and for one another on a daily basis. When you drive through the country you weave in and out of Palestinian and israeli land on a regular basis. Now I know that many members here are very anti Israel and believe that they are occupiers of an oppressed people and I am sure I will not convince you otherwise and I am not trying to, all I am trying to get across is dont believe the hype and dont take sides so quickly. Both sides are so wrong its not even worth talking about. But it is not the Israeli or Palestinian people that are wrong it is the certain few that are determined to end the world one way or another, it is the hate groups and terrorists that continue to derail any peace in the world. Iran, Korea, Fattah,Hezbollah, and all the others are the ones to blame for what is going on and what will continue to go on until the civilized world does something. What is going on in Israel is exactly what is going on in many parts of the world, innocent people being played like pawns on a chess board and no one really taking a look at who is at fault.
Take a look at Iran, People rising up against the leaders that have ruined their lives for so many years, rising up to show the world that the people of Iran are not bad and are not evil but the Ayatollahs, and Supreme leaders are the ones we should be pointing fingers at.
I advise all street artists to come to Israel because you will be welcomed with open arms and a cold beer. The amount of great walls is overwhelming and the people love street art and any form of expression.

K74 in the Middle East, by shaunyboy on Jul 3, 2009 18:34:40 GMT 1, news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/8128210.stm news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/02_07_09_gaza_report.pdf
Israel committed war crimes and carried out reckless attacks and acts of wanton destruction in its Gaza offensive, an independent human rights report says.
Hundreds of Palestinian civilians were killed using high-precision weapons, while others were shot at close range, the group Amnesty International says.
Its report also calls rocket attacks by Palestinian militants war crimes and accuses Hamas of endangering civilians.
The Israeli military says its conduct was in line with international law.
Israel has attributed some civilian deaths to "professional mistakes", but has dismissed wider criticism that its attacks were indiscriminate and disproportionate.
Amnesty says some 1,400 Palestinians were killed in the 22-day Israeli offensive between 27 December 2008 and 17 January 2009, which agrees broadly with Palestinian figures. More than 900 of these were civilians, including 300 children and 115 women, it says.
In March, Israel's military said the overall Palestinian death toll was 1,166, of whom 295 were "uninvolved" civilians.
Pattern
The 117-page report by Amnesty International says many of the hundreds of civilian deaths in the conflict "cannot simply be dismissed as 'collateral damage' incidental to otherwise lawful attacks - or as mistakes".
It says "disturbing questions" remain unanswered as to why children playing on roofs and medical staff attending the wounded were killed by "highly accurate missiles" whose operators had detailed views of their targets.
GAZA CIVILIAN DEATHS Palestinians search for bodies in rubble of destroyed house of Hamas senior leader Nizar Rayan after an Israeli missile strike in Jabaliya refugee camp on 1 January 2009 Children: 300 Women: 115 Men over 50: 85 Civilian men under 50: 200 Non-combatant police: 240 Total: 940 Source: Amnesty International
Lives were lost because Israeli forces "frequently obstructed access to medical care," the report says. It also reiterates previous condemnations of the use of "imprecise" weapons such as white phosphorous and artillery shells.
The destruction of homes, businesses and public buildings was in many cases "wanton and deliberate" and "could not be justified on the grounds of military necessity", the report adds.
"All of those things occurred on a scale that constitutes pattern - and constitutes war crimes," Donatella Rovera, who headed the research, told the BBC.
The document also gives details of several cases where it says people - including women and children posing no threat to troops - were shot at close range as they were fleeing their homes in search of shelter.
Israeli officials responded saying the military targeted only areas where Palestinian militants were operating, and accused Hamas of turning civilian neighbourhoods into "war zones".
"We tried to be as surgical as is humanly possible in a difficult combat situation," Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev told the BBC.
Human shields
The Amnesty report says no evidence was found that Palestinian militants had forced civilians to stay in buildings being used for military purposes, contradicting Israeli claims that Hamas repeatedly used "human shields".
However, Amnesty says Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups had endangered Palestinian civilians by firing rockets from residential neighbourhoods and storing weapons in them.
It says local residents had in one case told researchers that Hamas fighters had fired a rocket from the yard of a government school.
The Israeli military has repeatedly blamed Hamas for causing civilian casualties, saying its fighters operated from buildings like schools, medical facilities, religious institutions, residential homes and commercial premises.
In the cases it had investigated, Amnesty said civilian deaths "could not be explained as resulting from the presence of fighters shielding among civilians, as the Israeli army generally contends".
However, Amnesty does accuse Israel of using civilians, including children, as human shields in Gaza, forcing them to remain in houses which its troops were using as military positions, and to inspect sites suspected of being booby trapped.
It also says Palestinian militants rocket fire from the Gaza Strip was "indiscriminate and hence unlawful under international law", although it only rarely caused civilian casualties.
Hamas leader in Gaza Ismail Haniya declined to comment on the Amnesty International criticism, but said: "We believe the leaders of the occupation state must be tried for these crimes."
Thirteen Israelis were killed, including three civilians, during the offensive, which Israel launched with the declared aim of curtailing cross-border rocket attacks.

Don't get it twisted my friend, firstly and most obviously no one has mentioned Jew, apart from you that is, so please put that nasty and cheap way to ignore serious debate card away.
This is your thread, no one else's, if you wanted to keep it strictly art then you should have left your grossly inaccurate comments inside your one sided head, please refer to your first post for countless examples; its all the fault of the Hate groups etc... Fateh's is one incredible example!! Anyone on either side of the fence will tell you that Fatah are many things but a hate group they are not, see the term nationalist Resistance for further info.
Also anti-occupation and pro freedom is not the same as anti-Israeli, unfortunately my friend it is apparent that you cannot accept common knowledge, but it is unquestionably FACT that Israeli occupies the Palestinians; hence the term Occupied territories, anyway lets not get stuck on the same record going in CIRCLES.
So please take your inaccurate self-righteous self-promotion elsewhere if you cannot and will not accept debate.
We've been here before, so lets not go there again, its "Fuuuking boring".

If this was the message it would of course be admirable, but unfortunately this is not the case, it is only one side that gets the ticking off. Read the post again and you will see a complete lack of blame laid at the door of any Israeli politician or political movement, instead the likes of Iran and Korea are used for some bizarre reason to illuminate the "hate groups" that are to blame for this, the thorniest of issue's!!
I suggest the same struggles for freedom he applauds in Iran be applied to those struggling for freedom and an end to occupation in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza.
His answers to what is only debate, (nothing more, nothing less) have so far been offensive, childish and nasty.
You are right Mike, politics does ruin it, it is the very few that rally the dead of the many.
Still, with hope, we can fight to change this.
For love.

Deary me, what an incredibly rude and nasty "street artist!!" you are.
You obviously cannot accept debate, expecting your original post to be accepted for its inaccuracy's and opinionated self righteousness.
Any debate is challenged with "Fuck off", your self-delusion is so brilliant that you cannot even fathom that if Silky locked the thread it would be because of your abusive and threatening behavior, please refer to your own charming way with words; "you dumb little fuk", nice.
Intelligent people string words together to make sentences and debate topics, people who use profanity or revert to name calling obviously have no argument to counter.
As for these imaginary "racist morons", you are the only one to mention race, racist or Jew in any form, please can you highlight these mythical racist posters by cutting and pasting their racism in a post for all to see, I for one would be the first to denounce them, that is if they ever existed. By the way, not that it should make any difference what-so-ever but I am a British Jew.

K74 in the Middle East, by kay7four on Jul 6, 2009 19:37:18 GMT 1, Ok Circles, lets do this civilized.
I am not sure why you keep stating that my original post was inaccurate and opinionated self righteousness, because after all it was just that, my opinion. How could my opinion be inaccurate when it is just my opinion. I didnt go to google and cut and paste facts because that was not my intention. I mearly came here to state that i think and i repeat i think that what is going on in Israel is the same as what is going on in the rest of the world. The powerful elite control the masses and lead us down any road they wish. The reason I got upset was because anytime anyone says anything about Israel, there are you few that jump at the chance to quote many media sources on how Israel is this bad occupier and you quote the exact number of Palestinian deaths and lack of Israeli deaths, and you go on and on about all the things you read on your PC monitor. And you know what, I can respect your opinion. However, all I tried to state in this thread was that street art is alive in Israel. The people I have met, Palestinian and Israelis would disagree with you and all of the sources you have quoted because all everyone wants is peace. Why dont you take a break from your "fact" regurgitation and come out here for a month and investigate it for yourself. You may come home hating Israel even more but at least you can say you saw it first hand. And the fact that you are a Jew is not important, Hitler was a Jew if I am not mistaken.
Ok Circles, lets do this civilized.

Why dont you take a break from your "fact" regurgitation and come out here for a month and investigate it for yourself. You may come home hating Israel even more but at least you can say you saw it first hand. And the fact that you are a Jew is not important, Hitler was a Jew if I am not mistaken.

K74 in the Middle East, by Deleted on Jul 6, 2009 21:10:11 GMT 1, Five small points...
One, your mistaken.
Two, again... you are the one bringing up the race, racist, jew issue with no reason, no one else, as i already said, it is neither here nor there.
Three, I have been to BOTH Israel and Palestine on many occasions (just for your info, most Palestinians do not have the luxury or weaving in and out of their own cities and towns, let alone Israeli land.)
Four, Israel occupies Palestine that is the situation and not a contested topic.
Five, you have refused to answer any of my valid points (by the way, these were not the "facts cut and pasted from Aljazera" as you crudely commented.)
If you have an opinion and throw it out to the world as a "street artist", please expect both agreement and disagreement especially on this issue. Your post was much more than just "street art is alive in Israel" it was a far from balanced comment on the situation with incredible inaccuracy's.
Your response's have been abusive, vulgar and offensive, this say a lot about you and your ethos.
For Love
For a great example of a western artist's taking a little trip to the region, who remembers when Banksy Painted up and down the wall, or the great Santa's Ghetto in bethelem...

K74 in the Middle East, by thx1138 on Jul 7, 2009 6:43:44 GMT 1, Again great stuff K74.....it's a shame that anytime the word Israel is mentioned in anything the usual knob gobblers jump up...and even some new ones join the peanut gallery......highly predictable.....that's what you get for mentioning 'Middle East' in your thread K74...
so fellow members, maybe as a courtesy to the artist who decided to share his work on an art forum, make sure you leave some constructive criticism about said art, right after the political rants......that would be awesome.......

"
peanut gallery", "knob gobblers", "Fuk off" "dumb Fukk" "racist morons" just a simple glance at this thread will show that those who simply questioned the original post or posters horrid responses have been met with a barrage of disgusting abusive and offensive swearwords/name calling, again, those who do so use this nasty tactic to mask the fact that they have no argument to counter.
For those who cannot read or refuse to acknowledge: If you have an opinion and throw it out to the world as a "street artist", please expect both agreement and disagreement especially on this issue. The original post was not just a said few pictures of some street "art" it was a accompanied by a far from balanced comment on the situation with incredible inaccuracy's.
For love
P.S.
If you must know, the sub standard cliche "art" itself is not worthy of comment.

K74 in the Middle East, by thx1138 on Jul 7, 2009 8:10:03 GMT 1, Cant wait to see some of your future posts 'Circles'.....so far it seems you joined this forum as a knee jerk reactionary impulse...hopefully you will find something on here that inspires you to leave some creative criticisms or maybe even contribute a nice thread of your own.
Glad to hear that K74's art AND his views are not to your liking...point very well made....now hopefully your next 8 posts will contribute something of worth...instead of some white noise peanut gallery chatter.
50 dollars says you won't even be posting on this forum in two months time.....I hope I lose as I am anxiously awaiting to read your next pearls of wisdom...

"knee jerk reactionary impulse" and none of the above drivel means anything, instead of answering my valid points you choose slander as the chosen tool to dodge the question.
Please if you are going to use slander at least get me for something bad you joker!!
Not that it has anything to do with anything:
I have the right (do I not) to post when and where I like, not when and where you like. If the latter was the case then I would have to spend my time commenting on bad Nick Walker or K74 "art" which I would rather not do thank you very much!! Each to their own. (For your information I came in to this thread because of the offensive way K74 brought Jew into the discussion for no reason.)
And just to illuminate the fact that you cannot even slander correctly!! I HAVE started a thread called "contemporary art is a fraud" which by the way had a healthy DEBATE on the subject.
For Love my silly brethren!!
