There are thousands of hugely talented artists out there trying to make a living from their artistic ability. I have seen this especially in the past 24 hours in my search for stand-out abstract art(ists).

I am interested to know what people's thoughts are on what makes a talented artist a success in the artworld. There seems to be very few who can make a full time living from their art...

How much does it depend on the ability of an artist; and likewise how much does it depend on other such factors, such as representation, ambition, character, originality (to name but a few)...
