Cheap Canvas Question, by funyoung on Jan 20, 2009 9:46:01 GMT 1, I recently acquired some cheap canvas, prestretched onto wooden frames. Cheap as anything really.
Can someone please tell me what the plastic pieces on the back are for? They are flat, about 5cm long and 1.5cm wide with a corner cut off. Cheers in advance.

Cheap Canvas Question, by idiom on Jan 20, 2009 10:23:06 GMT 1, I believe they are used to stretch the frame and keep it taut if it begins to loosen a little. They are inserted in the slots in the wood that are on the back of the canvas. At least that's what i thought they were for!

Cheap Canvas Question, by Dellboyy on Jan 20, 2009 11:33:20 GMT 1, Yup, if over time the canvas becomes a bit slack in the frame you can jam them in to tighten it a bit!

Cheap Canvas Question, by T*3 on Jan 20, 2009 21:04:18 GMT 1, i personly think they do fuck all! i have used canvasas with and without them and imo they make no difference. if the canvas ever gets too slck just wet the back of the canvas and as it dries it will tighten itself up.

Cheap Canvas Question, by funyoung on Jan 20, 2009 21:10:55 GMT 1, Cheers all. I have tried to stick them in in all different directions now. Can't get them to do anything! I'll bin them as suggested I think. Glad I get the idea even if I can't get them to work!
