Graffiti Pavillion Project!, by kakalakambeki on Jan 28, 2009 20:51:48 GMT 1, Hej there,
I write to you in order to ask about your opinion on one of my Projects...
My name is Matt and I am a student of Architecture from Berlin... Last Year we had the task to design a pavillion for a company... it was a competition... they wanted us to design some kind of ticket selling pavillion, similar to the TKTS from New York, you might know this one... itยดs awful......
Soon I decided to combine my Passion for Street Art and Graffiti in order to create something I really love... the urbanstyle.Bomber...
Of course my design got eliminated soon after I disagreed on accepting certain "changes", that would "help" making it "better"... in plain words: I wanted to make this really a work of my heart rather then something that fits the criteria of the tickets guy...
I am well aware that this Pavillion faces some Problems concerning authenticity (dunno whether this word exists in English...^_^...)... Some, if not most, painters and artists have some issues concerning writing on legal objects... I really donยดt want to force the things that might or might not occur on the Pavillion, just have it build and see, what happens... it is what people make of it...
What do you think...?...
Thank you for reading......
Cheers!
Matt

It is sad, because it is the second attempt to get some kind of feedback on this... and I try to be as genuine and real as I can...
Hm... So I think I just leave this....

Graffiti Pavillion Project!, by romanywg on Feb 1, 2009 0:24:51 GMT 1, I think it is brilliant. Really works well as a design and something that can be used by the local vandals, I mean writers. The first picture works the best for me, I don't like it so much in metal. If it was made out of or had external walls made out of waterproof sterling board or chipboard it would look even better. (Like the boarding in the UK that surrounds new building developments and has always been used by graffiti artists. I have been to Berlin and can see this would work really well with the Berlin architecture. Good luck with your project, I think it is brilliant.

Graffiti Pavillion Project!, by kakalakambeki on Feb 1, 2009 15:35:11 GMT 1, Thanks, Guys... I really appreciate to get some kind of response, really......
@ romanywg
In the end this picture shows the result that might occur after, letยดs say, 10 Days... It is an assumption, that people would ratherly use smaller stencils, stickers, etc. instead of bigger graffiti... Of course, it is only an attempt of showing a possibility, it says nothing for sure...
I did several different texture tests... Here you see a selection...
The Model you can see in the exhibition has been painted by Graco from Berlin... from Graco & Spinner...
I could have done it by myself but I wanted to simulate the concept by giving it to someone else... I should have no personal reference to the result, but sadly Graco assumed that it should please the Hekticket guys, so he choose "popular" band names to be tagged on it... He had a good choice in picking the kind of bands that make me vomit, so I will hand it to another painter, Rama, so he can continue... step by step I may reach a more dense appeareance...
In addition, I have this model hanging on the wall in my flat... People can spray on the wall and the model, if they like...
If you are from Berlin or know people, who would like to continue or just contribute one single mini tag, I would be very happy......
The whole project is ment as a gallery as well... in the front room you see in the section I planned a store for Graffiti accessories, but it is also possible to move the store to the bigger space, then the front room would be a gallery, where the progress on the Bomber would be displayed in yearly exhibitions...
The owners could invite Graffiti painters from all over the world to have them apply their work completely on the building... something like a theme of their choice... imagine that...^-^...
Edit: Ah, and i forgot to mention: The material is really flexible and in the end the shape is important, not the surface in first place... It is possible to build this whole thing from wood... no problem...
I have no good idea where to go in order to make this thing real some day... I will have to find a shop, a pen, can or other accessories producer who is willing to invest some hundred thousand EURO in this...
The authorities, as you can imagine, are less willing (^_^...) to give their permission... it is really a nightmare to get a permission in Berlin, you cannot imagine...
Some advice or eMails I can send this to...?... It is not limited to Berlin... it can transportable as well...
