leake street, by richy00 on Jan 5, 2009 18:31:03 GMT 1, drove to drop my dad off at waterloo last night thought i would show him a banksy or two in leake street, (realised my stupidity of walking down there at night).. amazed to see there is no sign of cans at all apart from the eine street cars on the floor.. was pretty fucked off at the layers and layers of shit tags that inhabit there now.. nice to see the grafter eskimo still there as dad had just seen my one on wood in my flat about half an hour before...
thinking of going down there with a massive tub of white paint and writing this is wank down the side in fucking massive letters... anyone want to help?

leake street, by romanywg on Jan 5, 2009 18:48:46 GMT 1, You are joking I hope? Leake street is amazing and changes weekly with new pieces by top graffiti writers. Yes some of it does get tagged but not all of it and not all of the time. If you still thought you could see a Banksy down there then you obviously don't read the forum that often. Eine street cars? He didn't do any street cars.

leake street, by neale on Jan 5, 2009 23:43:18 GMT 1, surely the nature of street art is that its out there and can be changed by any one who walks past with a spray can, their addition might well be crap, but thats what the medium is open to . Street artists dont want the images to live forever, thats not the point or message they convey.Because a lot of these images are released as prints people think the originals should be preserved as well, but it only lasts as long as any graffiti lasts on the street. I agree with Romany, Leake st is always interesting to walk through because of its constant change.. if only more streets were like this

leake street, by Guest on Jan 6, 2009 10:38:19 GMT 1, not all street work has to have a deep meaning behind it, sometimes its there just to improve the crap surroundings.

to the best of my knowledge its a collab piece by rowdy (who does crocs...thats it. just like sweet toof does teef and the sickboy does temples) who i think is a sometimes member of burning candy (the s.t cyclops collab) and the cones are by 2d or filthy lurker. i really like it, as ron says sometimes street art doesnt need depth (often i think!!) ;D

leake street, by richy00 on Jan 6, 2009 14:46:52 GMT 1, fair enough, but i want my art to mean something rather than just look nice, my favorite print out of the whole 'street art' movement is beejoir SBFO as i personally think its such a powerful image and coming from the middle east myself it is all the more important, i think an artist who creates work with no meaning shouldnt really call themselves an artist, more of a painter and decorator... yes i admire the skill it take in painting something, or cutting the stencil but its just a random idea, without a meaning it wont interact with me..
just my 2p, was dissapointed to see the real art in leake street go.

Tristan Manco is the one to ask mate, rumour has it if it's kept "TIDY" it'll be up there at least 12 months or so...
