Will have to come down to London to see this one - so impressed.
Many thanks to everybody who has posted a picture - keep them coming.
Urban art has truly arrived.

Urban art? Horrible tag. These are all 'street' artists.

Totally agree. Urban art is terrible marketing jargon. It allows marketers to sell music along with visual art, and then whatever other lifestyle brand comes along - clothes, alcohol, you name it. Goodbye grit, hello mainstream.

Outside Tate Modern: Photos, by kj on May 21, 2008 10:15:45 GMT 1, I'm quite excited to see the Faile piece when it's finished! I won't be going up there today, sadly, but I'll be there tomorrow... and I went yesterday. Took a few photos that I'm uploading to my flickr now.

JR finished his yesterday. Spent ages coating it with what I guess must be a sealant to stop the wind and rain ripping it apart. It's drawing quite a crowd from the Millennium Bridge already!

72 panels of 8x3 hand painted and then pasted. They worked on sections at a time so therefore have not seen the image complete before it hits the wall....pretty impressive.

Outside Tate Modern: Photos, by dotdot on May 21, 2008 20:40:43 GMT 1, i was up there this afternoon - oops got sunburnt - took quite a few photos and got behind the fences to catch sight of as much as possible.
I met up with os gemeos and had a chat about what they've been up to... and what's next etc. To be honest - they couldn't have been nicer to a mere normal type.
It was spooky everyone seemed to know them - all these folks from Brazil kept coming over to have their photos taken.... they're stars over there.(not forgetting the tv crew doing in interview with them for national TV...! no less! )
Anyway that was part of my day - will get the photos up somewhere at some point - btw best vantage point could be the platform at blackfriars...
oh and to cap it off.... while i was hanging around ( you couldn't make this up).... a local from the block of flats( near the founder pub... ) came over.... to speak with a tate pr rep.... moaning about the scaffolding going up for the show (XFM?) on sat....
"that scaffolding is not on tate land - you know i think it should be taken down - now ! ... let me speak to the director of the tate - now..."
she had to take him seriously... so he did speak to the "BOSS"... I was ...and everyone else was in fits.... people ! ... nimby ! etc...
...cheers - it's been a long day time for a bit of toast.
