Banksy - Flag for sale?, by aimless on Jan 3, 2007 1:43:50 GMT 1, I would say they will always be closer to £400 than £300.
Just my opinion but never seems to be more than 10 listed at any one time and it is a sweet print.

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by RBK on Jan 3, 2007 2:53:00 GMT 1, I think artificial value is being created by people that own the print - just a hunch. If prices don't drop in the next 2-4 weeks, it will be only new print to defy the trend of correcting.

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by aimless on Jan 3, 2007 3:08:31 GMT 1, could be - mine sold for £450
So you wont get it for 300-350 at present - maybe down the track but I still think closer to 400
all speculation though

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by pastiepie on Jan 4, 2007 4:07:56 GMT 1, The reason the prices are still high is that enough people set a BIN of 400-450 that it suddenly becomes a norm. It doesn't matter if they sell or not but people will still bid on auctions upto that same amount. It seems to be awfully common now for people buying to sell setting unreasonable BIN prices as opposed to auctioning off.

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by pastiepie on Jan 4, 2007 4:28:47 GMT 1, It's odd having people reply to your messages instantly when the rest of the world is asleep. On that note I agree with what your saying. People finding that an easy buck is not so easy anymore but still wont give in. Anyone smart enough would be holding onto their prints for a few years and then trying to sell them off. Just look at the prices of barcode and christ with shopping.

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by Run Pig Run on Jan 4, 2007 18:29:07 GMT 1, I reckon the price of these will definatly go up to a least 500 in the next few months, the only reason they were going for 350-400 is because there were about 40-50 on at the same time just before christmas.

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by ABC on Jan 7, 2007 8:41:17 GMT 1, I like the fact that members are saying "Mine sold for £450" only a few days after buying. Is this a Forum for Banksy fans or scalpers?

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by willamsa on Jan 7, 2007 21:55:50 GMT 1, I'm with bombhugger, and I know people think talking about price trends is mutually exculsive with enjoying art but heres my thoughts on prices of Flags,
as more different types of Banksy prints become available there will be a divide and some will become more desirable than others. Flags is a standout piece (imo), the fact that real fans could get hold of them by queueing up and scalpers could only buy one each means their supply will be limited.
this is reinforced in number of prints on Ebay dropping . . . 35-40 flag prints listed before Xmas, only 6-8 listed in Jan
So, price is normally a function of supply and demand (we've already established that supply is limited and demand is a function of desirability, and this piece is desirable)
doesn't matter these only sold for £100 and weren't signed, people like them and want them, and the supply is restricted.
don't know what the price will do, but don't think they will come down

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by ABC on Jan 8, 2007 0:19:27 GMT 1, I think your right, its the same with Micallef, the FF is a higher price than JD even though JD was more expensive and a larger edition. Its what people like at the end of the day

Actually, demand is a function of price too... the lower the price, the higher the demand, even from people who may not necessarily desire a particular good (buying just because it's cheap). I think that given the relatively (very) low price of £100, Flag would have sold out very quickly even if Banksy weren't so big (especially since it's a good image and more publicly acceptable as compared to Virgin Mary).
As for the future prices for Flag, if sales continue to fade (as they have in January compared to December), prices will start falling a little. It's very easy for people to control pricese in theory - all we'd have to do is to band together and not buy any, and the scalpers who want to unload them will have no choice but to lower their prices. Alas, humans aren't perfect cooperators, so we can forget about that

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by willamsa on Jan 8, 2007 0:59:22 GMT 1, I'm not sure sales are fading, the number on ebay has dropped, but those that are put up are selling at between £450-£550
2 sold yesterday and 2 today, at an average of £500, similar average to the first week they were available.
no shortage of people snapping up at BIN prices below £500, and all recent sellers are unique so no one person skewing the market at moment.
interesting to see how these play out as the other LA prints get released

Tell that to musicmedium on Ebay who has sold 6 (yes... that isn't a typo) Flag prints

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by willamsa on Jan 8, 2007 10:07:54 GMT 1, there was a family that queued up with grandparents and 2 young childredI heard they swapped coats and tried queuing again but got busted!), so that would be 6 and maybe thats them
- but I'd be suprised if there are many with more that 1, a few with 2 and once those sales have flushed through, supply will drop as most people who queued up will be holding onto theirs

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by damullae on Jan 8, 2007 13:53:53 GMT 1, I think your right, its the same with Micallef, the FF is a higher price than JD even though JD was more expensive and a larger edition. Its what people like at the end of the day
The larger edition size must surely be a reason for the lower price?

Banksy - Flag for sale?, by ABC on Jan 8, 2007 20:50:11 GMT 1, Just missed one at BIN £425, went in 10 mins of listing. I am forced I feel to pay a Little more than 300/350, prices were at there lowest for most prints before christmas and with more collectors holding them and less baggers selling them I think the prices will creep up slowly now. DAMN

the edition size will have little to do with it if no one is selling and people want to buy
