Displaying skate boards and odd stuff...., by saint on Jul 29, 2011 11:05:12 GMT 1, Any pics? advice and tips?
I have a Mau ninja fox board i would like to get up on the wall. Is it best to box it ala the way the hirsts were done at his show thing? Any board collectors in the UK who can let me know where to buy the right shit from please?
Also i'm struggling to get my stik plaque on the wall, without using 3m fixing tape stuff, again any thoughts?
And finally, how to people display work when there is more than one side? faile boxes, matt small stuff etc? or prints/drawings with images on both sides of the paper?
And finally finally, how about sculptures? do people put them in domes? (what are those domes called? i call them taxidermy domes....) I have a d* sculpture i'd like to put in one, and a few other pieces as well..... Anywhere you can pick them up cheapy cheap?
enough q's for now i think.....

Did this with my Beejoir. Nice and simple.
For my Hirst I had a beautiful spare deep box frame with museum glass and invisible corners so whilst the proportions are not quite right I think it works okay. It is suspended on nylon pillars which have rubber studs to locate in the holes (press fit). So the board is suspended in air with only the inner walls of four holes touching the rubber studs.

I don't like the way you have framed that Hirst but oh my I do like that deck. Very nice example.

Why do you go to all the trouble of buying a quality item like a Hirst, then put it in a spare frame that makes it look tatty is beyond me, but then...
I'm not an expert and maybe I'm missing a joke but I think the framing looks amazing. I love it.

Well it a ยฃ300+ frame of the highest quality and whilst you might question the proportion its hardly tatty. IMO. I think it just about works but I will live with it for a while and decide whether it needs changed. No fixings used so no harm done.
