MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by chaserawr on Apr 20, 2011 0:49:43 GMT 1, Was it just me or was Banksy's display not all that great? I think Rammellzee's room and Espo's display was the best, also enjoyed ROA's display.

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by Sally on Apr 20, 2011 9:26:01 GMT 1, From Melrose and Fairfax:
"Here is a brilliant installation piece placed at MOCA.
It is one of the the best that we have seen which continues the commentary concerning the buffing of Blu, and whether street art in a museum is truly art in the streets.
This new piece from Subtle features the 'Art In The Streets' logo, but the 'Streets' looks as if it is being buff. And on the left side of the picture is Blu's wall, in the process of being buffed.
Actually, the pic of the guy buffing in this piece is a real pic of the guy buffing Blu's mural.
Really brilliant commentary, and expertly placed right at the entrance to MOCA's exhibit."

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by jamesreeve5 on Apr 20, 2011 21:52:30 GMT 1, Ha, what a story. A nice cap to yet another really funny forum thread. And so diametrically opposed to this gem It's been a long while since i posted anything on here but felt compelled to do so now....I have had the pleasure of seeing what has been going on inside the MOCA walls for the past many days and I gladly will go on record and say that this show is 100% HISTORIC!....As far as anything Graffiti or Street Art related there has never been such a collection of talent under one roof...EVER! .... ...in two days history will be made!! and i urge anyone that was born between 1965 and 1995 to make a pilgrimage to this ART MECCA!!!! So much hyperbole/puffery. You would get flagged in nanoseconds if you tried to write a wikipedia article. The overstated sense of importance from advocates of this genre is astounding. But back to that ridiculous article by Heather Macdonald. While I agree with a fair amount (but hardly all) of the general sentiment in her rant. It's so brimming with hatred and anger, it's obvious she's been seething at the chance to write something to 'crush' the genre. But it really comes off as whiny and pathetic and so painfully academic it hurts. Keep writing for the prestigious City Journal babe. Hope you don't wind up just another journalist / critic manquรฉ.
I felt the same way. She wrote another article (I didn't post it) about graffiti that came off very similarly. She obviously has an agenda, but her article only feeds the fire of those diametrically opposed to her position (but I guess its the symbiotic relationship between the academics and populists that keeps "art" alive).

the truth is that she is sublimating her hidden desire to bed a naughty anarchist vandal.

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by des77 on Apr 22, 2011 11:18:06 GMT 1, You're not the first person to say this. Some of you are obviously not looking at the pieces for more than a second. Maybe you should think about why it's about to roll over a red heart shaped balloon!! Apparently there is an image of Yogi Bear under the Banksy steamroller.
ah... he should have had 'world poverty' written underneath. Although that may be a bit bob geldoff.
