Banksy Current Market Value Pricing, by b1470 on Sept 7, 2011 2:08:25 GMT 1, Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong area to post. What is your opinions about current Banksy pricing? I think the market right now is way overpriced. I think you could buy other artists works for better pricing and better return( if your trying to profit). Before the "movie' prices were much lower then current amounts. For instance I was looking for a Grannies unsigned print and could easily find pricing from U.S $750-$1000. Currently it is in the $2000-$2500 range which I find ridiculous from an unsigned art print. Even though Banksy is a once in a life time talent, I believe the market will readjust after the hype goes down and prices become realistic again. What is your opinions? Thanks

Banksy Current Market Value Pricing, by sohohoho on Sept 7, 2011 4:20:46 GMT 1, Banksy's print market is pretty strong at the moment but it has been stronger. U/S Grannies = $1,100-$1,600. Anything more is ludicrous, even in today's market.

Banksy Current Market Value Pricing, by Deleted on Sept 7, 2011 7:19:07 GMT 1, Sorry to break this to you but there were periods prior to 'exit' where print prices were as high or even higher. The market continually shifts, but prices first starting going north post the la show in '06, with dome big names making purchases and Banksy doing well at auction. If you can predict where prices go next, you've a better understanding of the Market than I.

Banksy Current Market Value Pricing, by achtungbono on Sept 7, 2011 10:12:22 GMT 1, what is overpriced ?
seller and buyer have to agree on a value based on any number of driving factors, so maybe there isnt such a think as overpriced art ?
DD nailed it - we have seen higher prices than this - although grannies isnt his best IMO, The Barely legal show output is pretty much head and shoulders above the majority of recent releases that are a bit meh
Predicting markets is great when you base projections on maths and precedent - sadly people get involved and things get a bit chaotic and unpredictable.
if you can afford it and want it, then buy it - as long as you can do it without overstetching yourself - then mentally write off the money you have just spent, otherwise rather than looking at a nice pic on a wall, all you will see is ยฃยฃยฃ signs
good luck

Banksy Current Market Value Pricing, by Retired Mafia on Sept 8, 2011 4:14:23 GMT 1, I don't know if this has been mentioned but the falling UK pound (it has depreciated by a third in the last year compared to US, Asian currencies) is also driving the prices up.
I recall seeing morons and grannies going for tops ยฃ700 a year or so ago. Now they are starting at ยฃ1,000. It can still represent a bargain though for those who reside outside the EU/UK.
