LAZ, KOFLER & KOMPANIE–THE MINOTAUR & PRET A DINER, by Ruggs on Sept 13, 2011 22:38:59 GMT 1, After a resounding success with 2010's Hell's Half Acre and over 10,000 visitors, Lazarides Gallery are delighted to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with Kofler & Kompanie, pioneers of PRET A DINER (Europe's most celebrated pop up restaurant), who will be redefining the dining experience in the form of a Michelin Star pop-up restaurant, during their two-week residence at The Old Vic Tunnels. During Frieze and London Restaurant Festival, from 10 October until 25 October, the underground venue will transform into an alternative cultural space featuring a labyrinth gallery of cutting-edge artwork and film, offering a world-class restaurant and lounge-bar. PRET A DINER is the official "pop-up" restaurant partner of the London Restaurant Festival.
Within the maze of artwork, KP Kofler, Founder and CEO of Germany's most well known caterers, will bring together some of the best chefs in the world to demonstrate their technical expertise and unique form of creative cuisine. By refashioning one of the Tunnels, KP Kofler will introduce PRET A DINER to the London stage for the very first time, with top Michelin-starred chefs Nuno Mendes (Viajante, London), Matthias Schmidt (Villa Merton, Frankfurt) and Juan Amador, (Amador, Mannheim).
Lazarides' return to the Tunnels this year takes inspiration from the ancient Greek legend of The Minotaur. Steve Lazarides will commission artists from his international stable to each create their own interpretation of the classical myth within a stunning Labyrinth installation. Artists so far confirmed to contribute include: Stanley Donwood, Jonathan Yeo, Antony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Doug Foster, 3D, Ian Francis, ATMA, Michael Najjar and Lucy McLauchlan .
Simon Davis, London Restaurant Festival Director, commented, "Having visited Berlin earlier this year to experience PRET A DINER I thought it would be a fantastic addition to the London Restaurant Festival's growing schedule of events. With the irrepressible Lazarides curating an exhibition and the fabulous Old Vic Tunnels as a backdrop to some of the world's most inventive chefs this is just the sort of ingenious event that the capital should be hosting during the country's leading food and restaurant festival."
A three course meal at PRET A DINER including entrance to the exhibition will be priced at £75. Bookings will be available from 7pm and 9pm. Tickets will be on sale from 10 September 2011.
Tickets to The Minotaur: £5. A portion of the fee will be donated to The Old Vic Theatre Trust. Free entry to under 16s. For future revelations follow @lazarides_Art on Twitter for real-time updates or check the official Minotaur website.

LAZ, KOFLER & KOMPANIE–THE MINOTAUR & PRET A DINER, by craigf on Sept 14, 2011 15:03:17 GMT 1, Suprised there haven't been any responses to this thread, either flamming the cost of the food compared to a happy meal or excitement re the art....
Anyway I decided I am rather partial to a bit of classy food and if I can see some top notch art in a great venue at the same time it would be rude not to go ;D
I'm not convinced the better half will necessary be a fan of the artwork, but it's worth a try and at the very least I'll be in the good books re dinner

LAZ, KOFLER & KOMPANIE–THE MINOTAUR & PRET A DINER, by mylilly on Sept 14, 2011 18:56:06 GMT 1, Mark Rothko would be spinning in his grave! It was him who said about creating work for the Four Seasons Restaurant - "I hope to paint something that will ruin the appetite of every son of a bitch who ever eats in that room"
These michelin star street/ artist don't seem to have the same edge or morals! Preferring to be seen as celebrities whilst high dining... Where did the excitement go?

LAZ, KOFLER & KOMPANIE–THE MINOTAUR & PRET A DINER, by Deux Spin on Oct 11, 2011 9:44:13 GMT 1, Agreed, its an incredible event. Get yourself a ticket!
Better than Hells Half Acre in my opinion, the Maze, Cinema and Michelin Star Restaurant are really nice touches. Plus there's a secret "Green Room" where you can enjoy a glass of champagne whilst checking out BAST's new pieces from the Outsiders Show, plus some amazing Ron English, Banksy, Faile, Jonathan Yeo, Sage Vaughn originals just to mention a few.
A small preview by Vhils:

LAZ, KOFLER & KOMPANIE–THE MINOTAUR & PRET A DINER, by gozgoz on Oct 12, 2011 16:35:11 GMT 1, So a friend went and said dinner was overpriced... two chefs pulled out apparently (thats what he heard)? And the venue was too warm...
That being said. the show itself was very very good. That Vermin Deathstar one. GOOD GOD!
and Doug Foster nailed it again! (i think i preferred last years one though)
And that CONOR HARRINGTON and IAN FRANCIS! OMG! GORGEOUS!

to charge £75 for the food and then extra for show entry would have been slightly cheeky
