Daniel Silk - Pottery, by speebe on Jan 28, 2012 18:45:25 GMT 1, I assume these are coiled and worked on using a plaster mold to to support you in achieving the forms... They look somewhere between sea urchins and the 'Alien' eggs.
Is it a grogged craft crank style clay you use, it's obviously easier to coil with a course bodied clay and less problematic during firing... although the smooth finish might suggest that you're using a white earthenware body?

Daniel Silk - Pottery, by speebe on Jan 28, 2012 19:24:17 GMT 1, I see.... Throwing closed forms is a bit tricky, I find throwing like a form of therapy, just wish I had more time at the wheel.
A white stoneware is quite similar in a lot of respects to a white earthenware.
I'll show some of my ceramic work and you can take a punt at working how mine were made.
