ADVICE PLEASE, by Trevorm on Jan 17, 2012 17:32:52 GMT 1, ^ Shocked me too - I keep coming back to this - can't believe that there's somebody on here that would do this.
'Back in the day' I used to know an amateur debt collector who was referred to as 'Hairy Bill'. Sounds like a job for old HB (probably no longer with us tho')

new artwork advice please, by Trevorm on Jan 17, 2012 16:33:03 GMT 1, I had a similar problem with a couple of mahoosive canvas's that my eldest son did whilst at Ravensbourne. Ashamed to say that I got round the problem by sitting the top rail of the frame, which is also about 2 x 1 in section on 3 masonry nails (Oh the shame!) that were set level about 450mm apart
A better job would be to cap off a similar number of drilled and plugged screws, at least you're not invading the frame or canvas. One canvas is still in place, in the lounge, with no ill effects. The other replaced with an old Banksy that was kicking around.

SECRET SANTA 2011, by Trevorm on Jan 3, 2012 10:16:24 GMT 1, My Secret Santa visited me at the office and I've just returned to work after the holiday to a treasure trove of goodies.
I'll have a punt at posting pics - but as a true aging technophobe/dinosaur this may take a little while.
In the interim, thank you so much clio for your really generous gifts, there's all sorts here: fully framed snub nose; multi VNA's; Kid30 print; 57m 'Polite Line' tape + loads of stickers
Speechless here

How you cooking your turkey thread?, by Trevorm on Dec 21, 2011 17:51:23 GMT 1, Not brining this year - didn't have a great deal of success with Nigella's recipe a couple of years ago. Nor her take on ginger bread stuffing. Don't bother with that either!

Don't be tempted to lower the price or even accept something special as a small(ish) addition to cash in a part trade!

Question to banksy morons owners, by Trevorm on Dec 19, 2011 16:59:51 GMT 1, You've got a point.
Not a problem for me as mine's on the wall round at my daughter's flat - I haven't seen it for about a year (it's in her bedroom)

N. WALKER LTS FOR £850 OR U/S BANKSY MQ!, by Trevorm on Dec 16, 2011 15:23:47 GMT 1, Can't believe this hasn't gone yet (or has it)
I'm kind of tempted but don't have quite that amount of pocket money. Also, I'm wondering is it bedroom friendly?
Mo is a great guy, v approachable, perhaps he'd take a bit of a hit to help facilitate a series of trades in the art world.

Banksy • Napalm Print, by Trevorm on Dec 13, 2011 12:37:13 GMT 1, I reckon Nola as well.
MrsM has allowed me to hang 'ours' in the Living Room - not sure I'd be putting up the Napalm, though, even if was lucky enough to acquire one.
A personal choice that you'll have to manage, whatever message you read into them.

Getting fold lines out Forgive Us Our Trespassers , by Trevorm on Nov 21, 2011 9:14:56 GMT 1, There was a tip for this on another thread recently and I've just had some success using brown paper, ionised (distilled) water and the iron. After a couple of trial efforts I found that using an atomiser with a fine mist spray worked a treat on a lightly damaged (dinks on one edge) Dan Baldwin print I'd picked up fairly recently.

WLTB BAST CANVAS OR…, by Trevorm on Nov 19, 2011 19:42:00 GMT 1, There you go Mike - back to the top.
I think I've got a Trash & Royale somewhere here. You'll have to pop round for a look and a coffee and check out the size (so to speak) of my Bvlgari - the frame is nearly 6 foot x 4 feet wide much too big for this house. We might have to move.

Urban Art in Recession?, by Trevorm on Nov 18, 2011 12:14:42 GMT 1, I've worked through all of the recessions from the 70's and this one's the absolute worst. The boom and bust recessions of yore seemed to be managed by borrowing and buying the economy into the next upward phase. We can't do that now what with selling most of our gold reserves off; the Euro; the state of the global economy etc. High end (really, really high) art appears to be a safe investment. Otherwise there's no such thing. If you want to take a chance buying and selling it's all down to luck. The only advice is to buy, if you've got the money when people are selling (now seems to be a good time, but I thought that was true last year and stuff still keeps settling down). + as everybody knows, only buy pieces you like. Presumably you sell, if you are an investor, when everybody is buying. Oh and by the way......... anybody desperate to sell an Empire State, I've read elsewhere that Nick Walker is a spent force. I'd prefer a coloured one to the black and white, please
