Os Gemeos @99prints, by saint on Feb 3, 2014 9:53:38 GMT 1, Things seem to have calmed down on this thread.. Was the price point too high for Os Gemeos fans ? yes, without a doubt, it's a few months wages for most Brazillians and far in excess of any other print release EVER released and discussed on here. Was the edition size too little for a first release ? From a fans perspective, again, yes, without a doubt, a thousand at โฌ400 would have made more sense. Was this targeted at the fine and contemporary art set ? yes, without a doubt. Does that piss off a few/many of their street level fans ? yes, should it ? Not sure. Do I really give a s**t ? No, not anymore. The scene has developed this way. Good luck to them. Would I have given a s**t 6 or 7 years ago ? absolutely. Power to the People. Italians, Greeks, Spaniards, Central Europeans.. all coming at street art from a much more anarchistic background and history to the UK and US scenes. From a "street" "leftist" "keeping it real" perspective, the release sucked. I think that's Petrusino's point. And from that perspective, he's absolutely right. There are still more than a few anti capitalist street art fans on this board who are as likely to don a bandana or balaclava of a weekend as they are their weekends finest for some swanky sponsored art opening. peace
I reckon the last time anyone on here put on a balaclava it was during a ski trip to Verbier.

Os Gemeos @99prints, by saint on Jan 31, 2014 14:18:11 GMT 1, Have you spoken with you bank @rottenredrooster? Often banks can put a ghost payment on your account, so it will look like the money has gone, but it is really just earmarked to go if the retailer then accepts the payment. The retailer can decline the payment (due to for example something being out of stock) and they will not recieve any money, but it may take longer for your bank to then take the payment off hold. Did you pay via debit card? if so, should 99prints have accepted the money you would also have a fee for a foreign currency transaction (i think). If you don't have this it is is likely to be a ghost payment. Fingers crossed for you. Yes, bank confirmed it has left the account and was accepted. Can see it myself online. Yep, 90euro fee was added to the transaction. Should get sorted today hopefully. Cheers Weird.
Hope it gets sorted.

Os Gemeos @99prints, by saint on Jan 31, 2014 14:17:17 GMT 1, Didn't love the image. I mean, I liked it, but I didn't $5K like it. To me, a big part of their work is the beautiful colour, and I just thought this piece looked a touch drab with the grey background. Pondered buying the print for what it is, but didn't really feel like spending $5K for the wrong reasons. Ended up buying the Inti print produced by the same studio at a tenth of the cost. It may not be worth $15K, but I like the image more, and my collection is not about investment/speculation. I love Inti's work, great pick up on that.
As for the Os Gemeos print, i've said it before and will say so again. I love the look of the print. I like the fact that they stepped away from the work they do at gallery shows, colourful backgrounds etc, and tried to keep it in a similar line to their street work. I really look forward to seeing better images of the print, as I think the way the background is done will look like a wall thats been buffed. The colour and patterns coming through on the characters top, and knee, will i'm sure really pop, and the shadow effect will also i'm sure work very well.
All in all, i think its a great print. I also think Os Gemeos would not put their name to something and sign it unless they were very happy with it. You don't wait 20 years to drop a print and then drop something you don't think shows your current work off IMO.
Just my 2c on the art itself rather than the price

sandra chevrier geisha screen print , by saint on Jan 30, 2014 20:36:50 GMT 1, Saint, i just can tell you that i'm the happy owner of another Chevrier and once framed and on my wall it's changed the whole atmosfear of the place. So today i was awaiting this release so badly and i can say that i'm really happy having got a blue one as i found it was the most beautifull with the color used with the silk screen. There is many different taste with art. With Sandra, and for the first time, my wife and myself were on the same point of view !! We love it both, and it has never happend before The cage serie is just awesome mate So now if you're gonna take another drink, cheers it on us :happy and proud owner of her work. And thanks Sandra Chevrier we love your work and keep it that way...i can't wait to see the Star Wars serie !!!
Thanks for the reply, and cheers to you both!
It's always good when you find something you both agree on, for us it was our hush pair, we both love them, but for different reasons.
As I said I wasn't tying to annoy anyone, I just see nothing I like in the style she uses and wanted to hear from someone about who did see something.

sandra chevrier geisha screen print , by saint on Jan 30, 2014 17:37:31 GMT 1, Without meaning to upset anyone... What is it you see in this that makes you want to buy it and have it on your wall? I could possibly look through 8 pages to see if anyone had answered that already but i've been at the pub today so am being lazy.... Chicks and comics dude, what else do you need to know? Nothing, i think you just about summed it up right there.

sandra chevrier geisha screen print , by saint on Jan 30, 2014 17:36:29 GMT 1, I tried, i got 3 pages in, but then realised all anyone was saying was 'give me it for free' so i gave up.
Anyone have any interest in discussing the art? or should i just take it that they'll all end up on the virtual ebay wall and so who fucking cares about the art?

The OS Gemeos Effect, by saint on Jan 30, 2014 12:09:16 GMT 1, Do we really need two threads where people who have no knowledge of street art pretend to have knowledge of street art? Its embarassing.
You don't like the print, you don't like the price, you don't like the marketing aspect of the release. We know, you're entitled to your view, its your view, and clearly not others, they are also entitled to their view. Move along, stop trying to change peoples minds, go and buy something else and forget all about it.
Dolk is twice as famous as Os Gem? i've not lol'd that much in ages, cheers.

WTB OS GEMEOS The Other Side, by saint on Jan 29, 2014 16:02:33 GMT 1, Thats very nice of you to offer cost price to people for a print you think will soon be worth under cost, and also one you said you would pay 10k for, then that you wouldnt even pay 1k.
By the way, how's Dave? Trig's passing must have been hard for you and uncle albert

Os Gemeos @99prints, by saint on Jan 29, 2014 14:34:33 GMT 1, I thought it was an OK print, I see Os G as more illustrators than artists, there's no idea there, they paint a yellow character in different scenarios. I'm not sure how this will be important in 10 years time but sure its worth money now as they did a collaboration with Banksy 3 months ago.
really? I have been trying not to comment on this thread, as said my piece already, but REALLY??
