FS: FAILE ORIGINAL *FINAL PRICE DROP*, by artylang on Apr 5, 2011 13:03:48 GMT 1, nice shiny paragraph of nonsense sales pitch. You got a weak painting there buddy. I dont think youll get 2kusd for it, let alone 4. The one on ebay was far stronger than yours. It had two overlapping full images. I dont really think it's debatable. Yours is a poor collection starter for someone into faile, and no one who has a large faile collection would even touch this.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by artylang on Mar 31, 2011 18:41:29 GMT 1, no you idiots. If people are so lazy they cant be bothered to find information or sign up for mailing lists on their own, why help them. If they were really into an artist they would seek out the info themselves.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by artylang on Mar 30, 2011 17:24:30 GMT 1, you know how much art is bought because people are ABLE to flip Banksy. So many artists benefit indirectly from flippers like me being able to support artists I love with Banksy profits.

Ron English Print 🇺🇸 Popaganda • Pop Culture • Toys, by artylang on Mar 25, 2011 15:41:20 GMT 1, Guy obviously hasn't learned a thing from his past actions based on this weeks temper tantrum. The guy beat the HELL out of a woman he was dating. Beating up a woman is inexcusable. Id classify him with rapists and child molesters or anyone else who makes their victim feel powerless.
To be honest Im far more disappointed in Ron English.

Ron English Print 🇺🇸 Popaganda • Pop Culture • Toys, by artylang on Mar 25, 2011 11:54:10 GMT 1, So Ron English did the cover art for the new Chris Brown album. What do you think?
Ready? Go:
I understand it is difficult to make a living as an artist, but you have to draw the line at someone who beats women. Ill never support him again. He always struck me an artist with a stronger moral backbone. I guess I was wrong. What a pathetic, soul killing cash grab.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by artylang on Mar 23, 2011 1:56:37 GMT 1, Haha, just like Damien Hirst's market, right? Dude has a retro at the Tate coming up and, like him or not, is and will be one of the most important artists of the last 20 years and the next 100. Doesn't mean jack who backs you. Slow and steady always wins the race, always.
Economic & financial cycles apart (the art market being highly correlated to the financial market moves), I don't see Banksy prices go down anytime soon. He entered the major league and he's also now supported by important collectors. Those collectors don't play the same game than most of us. I'm not speaking directly moneywise but they won't let Banksy prices getting totally cut (I'm speaking major devaluation here). As a mugrabi who basically sustain any Warhol painting prices, big collectors are going to sustain Banksy's prices not to devaluate the value of their collection. I'm mostly talking about OG prices, I don't think those collectors are really invested in prints.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by artylang on Mar 17, 2011 13:29:35 GMT 1, It isn't just the contemporary art market that it perhaps overpriced though. The prices on Modern British art has gone through the roof in the last 5 years as well. There is no doubt that people are seeing art as an investment. It may well end in tears.
interesting point Perry. One could also argue that with the volatility within the financial markets makes art a very attractive shelter to hedge against inflation and other such beasts.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by artylang on Mar 16, 2011 23:18:00 GMT 1, artylang, i would be very interested to know what you have to back that up...
I love easy questions!
Without a doubt Banksy brought worldwide attention to a flourishing scene, but 3-8kusd for a large editioned screen print that is less than a year old! Non-sense.
One lesson I never forgot in my economics course was "opportunity cost". What else could you buy for that same money. Now since the way the original poster phrased the question leads one to think strictly in terms of investment, it is very hard to justify the prices for most of his editions. You cant turn around without tripping over another artist which you could buy for similar money that will have exponentially greater growth over the long term (strictly talking Banksy prints vs other artist originals. Banksy originals are another conversation). Im not going to start naming artists, but let's say that the only reason I have been able to afford an art collection is because of people over paying for signed Banksy prints I was fortunate enough to buy at source. While I love the works I have on my walls and get a ton of non-monetary fulfillment from them on a daily basis, there is no doubt in my mind that selling those prints to buy what I collect was a no brainer investment wise.
Time will tell of course, but I am very confident that investment wise I made very wise decisions. More so, the enjoyment I get living with the unique works or art I was able to buy, is, without trying to sound corny, f**king priceless.
would love to hear others chime in on this. Seems it could be an interesting debate. Furthermore, I think Banksy would approve of what Ive done. After all, his work turned me into a life long art appreciator and collector. It has allowed me to support other artists' careers and watch the flourish. Ill also add, these stupid POW lotteries have made it very difficult for me to add to my collection in the recent past...Bring back the old school bun fight where I had a chance.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by artylang on Mar 16, 2011 13:01:39 GMT 1, at this moment in time. WAY over priced. Look at what people are paying for CYW. Oooof. I hope they love them, because in 5-10 years time, they will not be holding their value.
