Interview with Sasha Bogojev / Sharing tips to collectors, by sal on Jan 3, 2021 11:52:55 GMT 1, "Karen is a pejorative term for women seeming to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal."
I guess Lisa should have added a context note/explanation in the video, because it's not you as the subject that has to make these indications but the video maker. And the lack of such will often lead to misunderstanding as it did here. You seriously donโt see it still, do you?!
You should just stop as there was no misunderstanding here to begin with. You just made bunch of assumptions cause your head is poisoned and no one but yourself should or could help you with that.
Best of luck!
One question for Sasha would be with time are you keeping to the same methods of discovering art or do you find the art is now coming to you as people get to know you more ?
The art is definitely coming to me more these days but its VERY rarely something I can work with (either feature or include in my shows). Instagram is still #1 place to discover and connect with people and I cant wait for the art fairs to start again as I love discovering the work in person like that.
And Coach, thank you for the kind words mate!

Interview with Sasha Bogojev / Sharing tips to collectors, by sal on Jan 2, 2021 20:24:27 GMT 1, Thank you for your answers "in all seriousness", as you say. It actually reveals a part of your profile that I guess was missing in this interview here: a) you really don't know what "a Karen" is, or you wouldn't use it to attack someone that points out to a fair question in a time where the action of wearing or not a mask has become a political/propaganda symbol (with life/death implications). b) you ignore that there are political implications and messaging with such visuals in other parts of the world, especially in the US. c) you are thin-skinned and don't know how to take criticism. It's ok to say you made a mistake, we really like your work and are very forgiving. So take some perspective, look back at the video without focusing on yourself but on the context, and maybe you will realize that for a fair number of viewers it actually sheds some serious concerns.
I'm not sure about the "fair number of viewers" but I do get what you're trying to say and that but is exactly what I find saddening - you're watching footage of a stranger talking at the gallery in Antwerp, Belgium, back in September, and are instantly fuming cause he might be "trump supporter anti masker". You don't see how messed up that is from another perspective?
I want to think that I'm all ok with criticism but you just threw assumptions which I then broke down - I did wear the mask in the gallery besides those few mins; I wasn't traveling all over the world; I'm certainly not what you implied.
Oh, and Google says "Karen is a pejorative term for women seeming to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal." I could be wrong but calling out someone on the other side of the world to answer why he is not wearing a mask during an interview or why he is traveling the world (which he is not), sounds "beyond the scope of what is normal" to me.

Interview with Sasha Bogojev / Sharing tips to collectors, by sal on Jan 2, 2021 15:54:52 GMT 1, Thank you AGAIN Lisa for being interested in what I do and putting so much effort in adding all the reference shots and witty cartoon clips in order to make this video so easy to watch!
Thank you Lisa! Was great, but the end scene really made me upset with Sasha: why wasn't he wearing a mask in the gallery with people visiting+ why is he travelling all over the world during this pandemic...? Is he a pro trump anti-masker?
As trax51 mentioned, my mustache is basically kryptonite to COVID-19 so everyone in the same room with me is over 100% safe from infection.
In all seriousness, I really don't feel like answering these Karen-like questions but just so you understand how wrong you are about letting your assumptions upset you:
Of course I wore the mask at the gallery, but I removed it while we were recording for those few minutes cause without an external microphone the audio would be useless (also, this was Sept in Europe so a different ballgame in terms of the epidemiological situation). I wasn't traveling all over the globe but I did take a 2hr train to Antwerp for this particular opening (I live in The Netherlands). Nope.
See!? No need to start lighting up torches and projecting your nemeses on me right away.
I do hope that besides leaving you upset at the end, you did enjoy what Lisa put together and you'll find a way to curb your frustration and anger in 2021!
S.B.

"Universes" group show - curated by Sasha Bogojev, by sal on Nov 4, 2018 21:33:07 GMT 1, I just realized I never posted on this thread, but I guess I was too excited about it all at the time.
First off, thank you all for the positive feedback about the show! It is definitely one of the highlights in my not that long run in the art world, and I'm over the moon with the quality of work in there.
I was fortunate so many great artists accepted the invitation AND produced some fantastic pieces. And then there is the gallery that trusted in me and them from a very early stage and gave us free hands to do whatever we felt like. Being there on the install day and opening day felt super special and the feedback that we were getting both from local "nonas" and artists, gallerists and collectors worldwide, was just a confirmation we did something right.
The show is up for another few weeks so if you're in the region, I strongly suggest you to check it out in person. Thanks again everyone!

Beautiful Disasters - Jose Luis Ceรฑa and ศtefan Botiศ, by sal on Jun 8, 2018 11:02:15 GMT 1, Nice to see the show I curated being posted on the forum I โgrew upโ at..
After shows I curated with Sean Norvet and Mike Lee in Tokyo, its great to have an opportunity to introduce more great talents through another gallery. Thanks Tales of Art!
Im super happy with how show turned out as a whole and the quality of each individual piece. They are all very intense works, clearly showing the amount of work that was put into them, not to mention the indisputable talents of both painters. Im personally mind blown with the textures, which in Joseโs case go from thick oil lumps all the way to deep carvings of the wood panel.
Hope you guys like em too!

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by sal on Oct 26, 2017 14:07:12 GMT 1, Question for those that were @ WOH and picked up the boxset - can you take it in your carry on luggage? ... off topic ... you may wish to have a look at the Dali items in the gift shop at the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) ... a couple of items maybe of interest Mustache related perhaps?...
