For Sale. IAN FRANCIS 2007 Mint condition edition25/50, by rodgro on Dec 19, 2019 6:38:17 GMT 1,
Assuming price listed $750) is per piece but not sure at that seems overly optimistic but $750 for all seems too low so I’m not sure. Could you please clarify. Thanks.

Martin Whatson - Passé, by rodgro on Dec 2, 2019 6:08:53 GMT 1, Why do people get so upset with flippers? I have not flipped anything but flippers serve two purposes - they let people buy things they miss like me and they help artists. Trust me if artists didn't benefit from flippers and concert holders didn't benefit from scalpers they would eliminate them! If you don't like a flipper just ignore him and dont buy from him. Calling him scum really doesn't do anything productive.
I don’t agree with calling flippers derogatory names, etc., but with all due respect you’re mistaken if you think flippers serve two purposes as both things you included are without merit; 1st if flippers weren’t buying the prints than you wouldn’t have missed out on the primary sale...they quite literally take art out of true collectors hands. 2nd how do you think flippers help artists? Do you believe they contact artists and offer to split the profits with them 😉? Anyway, best to you.

FS: Emin No Surrender, by rodgro on Oct 7, 2019 9:49:34 GMT 1, Crazy good deal as I think this sold primary price of 7000. Best of luck Anyone seriously interested would have picked it up from Counter Editions at launch for 2800 (inclusive of the members’ discount). And whilst the print is beautiful, there is a better way to spend that sort of money on Tracey’s work, including lower numbered editions of 50 which, although not in colour and slightly smaller, can be had to closer to 100p-1500 if you know where to look. The precise reason I didn’t buy this piece is because Counter’s pricing structure plays exactly into the hands of flippers such as OP, who then think their print has some intrinsic value of £2k beyond what they paid for it less than 3-4 months ago.
Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was 7K at release. Honestly I shouldn’t have commented as I’m not that familiar with her work and/or prices.

Michael Kagan 🇺🇸 Helmeted Astronaut Paintings • Brooklyn, by rodgro on Oct 7, 2019 1:29:31 GMT 1, He has been picked up by OTI and has a couple of shows on the horizon. His originals are rising to $20k upwards and from my understanding sell through pretty quickly.. and, really hard to come by.. so i guess anyone liking his work may be willing to purchase a print as a way to have something on the wall by him.. For ref, i do have the print and its really high quality - but thats just as much to do with Avante Arte as well.. This isn't a hype attempt.. ive been trying to get on the originals list for some time with no joy.. hence buying the print.. and so doing exactly what ive said other people may be doing.. One auction sale obviously doesn't make a market.. but gallery support and restricted supply i guess is helping G $740 plus shipping. I think it was right under $800. Link with those details. avantarte.com/works/we-leave-as-we-came/?currency=USDI'm curious myself. I can't tell if his secondary market is slow because no one wants to sell, no one wants to buy, he does minimal print releases? Open to thoughts on his market and pricing.
I was at his show at Joshua Liner a few years back and the last I looked they still have 3 of his paintings so you may want to give that a try. Love his work and super nice guy as we emailed a few times. First saw his work when he did an album cover for White Lies. Best of luck.

For SALE: Signed Shepard Fairey Andre Giant Original, by rodgro on Sept 23, 2019 0:53:39 GMT 1, Seen this before in a very extensive thread. Has rhe seller checked authenticity since then directly with the OG team? I'll try and answer your question but if I understand it correctly. Your asking if the piece has been authenticated. Photos were sent to Shepards team in CA, he asked if the piece could be sent to him as he would love to see it. It was duly sent via FedEx to Shepard who was happy to see old piece, he recalled making it as the paper is pretty memorable. He was kind enough to date and sign it and return to the original owner who has kept it for over 26 years and now is contemplating a sale. There can't be many out there, it would look fantastic in his upcoming touring exhibition "Facing the Giant".
Amazing piece! If you/your friend have emails, letter, etc documenting communications you mentioned with Shep. Either that or a letter or something from Shep or his people authenticating the piece would make all the difference in a sale. I’m interested but not without some type of provenance. Thanks. R

Fairey, Faile, Dface, Miss Van, Alex Face, Blek Le Rat +++ , by rodgro on Sept 14, 2019 13:31:36 GMT 1, Thanks for the clarification coach...Hilarious! So you prefer posts that say “I have something for sale. Message me for who, what, where, how much”?? There’s no need for sarcasm. It’s up to sellers to decide how they want to sell. If you are interested in the works I suggest you ask for pictures and prices. If you aren’t, well, perhaps move on.
So let me get this straight...we should add “don’t make comments on pics, titles and prices as part of what I consider an excellent post” of rules/things not to do?? Unlike your post to me, NEVER once did I suggest that the seller has to or should do anything. It was really just a cheeky but friendly post in response to the “excellent post” comment. It all just seems a bit much and too serious that you feel the need to suggest that I or anyone shouldn’t comment and either buy or move on. I think you’re forgetting the point a member based forum for discussion. Anyway, maybe it’s time for me to take a break. Best. R

Original Paintings For Sale! Faile, BAST, Pokras Lampas,SEEN, by rodgro on Sept 9, 2019 20:40:09 GMT 1, This is my favorite new thread...you want offers backed up by recent gallery sales??? Ahhh, if it were that easy to buy something for X dollars and have a guarantee that it’s going to sell for either that much or that artists current primary market sales. Unfortunately that’s make believe unless you’re talking about Banksy. You do realize this is a member based forum for discussion, secondary market sales, etc. and not a gallery right?? Jokes aside, you have some lovely pieces so I wish you the best of luck. Just my 2 cents but you may be better off just posting either a price or range you’re hoping to get. R "...a comparable sale to back it up from a gallery or ebay or another reliable source."This place is bananas
Bananas is right if you expect someone to “back up an offer”. Anytime I’ve made an offer on something it’s based on what I’m willing to pay/can afford and has nothing to do with what a gallery, eBay or elsewhere is selling for. I think you’re confusing art with stocks or a commodity like gold or silver. Honestly wasn’t trying to be difficult, but rather a friendly post to set reasonable expectations. Who knows, maybe I’m wrong and your description and expectations are in line with most collectors. Best. R

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by rodgro on Aug 28, 2019 14:42:04 GMT 1, Surpass Warhol?...Let’s not get carried away. To the OP: Good luck with your sale! Why do you think Warhol is so far above Banksy?
Where to start as TODAY there is simply NO comparison. Sales aside (we will come back to that), Warhol is attributed for the vast majority of styles and mediums used today by so many of his contemporaries, including Banksy, that it's fair/safe to say that none of them may exist without his influence. Longevity wise, he has only been gone for slightly more than three decades, but is considered as one of the greatest of all time and has had more retrospective museum shows than nearly anyone in history after such a short period of time. Sales wise, his work has broken the $100M ceiling which puts him in the company of DaVinci, Klimt, Picasso...you get the picture and if his iconic soup can set owned by the MoMa was ever to hit the auction block it may very well set an all time record, or so the experts suggest. All of that being said, I’m not suggesting Banksy isn’t brilliant as I 100% love his work and agree that he is, but to compare him to or ask “why do you think Warhol is above Banksy” is silly and uninformed, however we are all entitled to our opinions. He very well may be “above him” as you put it at some point in history, but he’s not today...time will determine that. It’s important to remember that just because an art collector in one of the scene’s of Banksy’s movie says “he’s better than all of the rest” doesn’t make it so 😉. Apologies to the seller as I’m not a fan of high jacking threads, but a question was asked so I felt inclined to answer.

*SOLD* Shepard Fairey Obey Lotus 2019 AT COST, by rodgro on Aug 15, 2019 3:27:29 GMT 1, I don’t get it...literally everything the guy makes sells out in seconds but someone asking original cost and not a cent more and it sits for several days without a sale or even comment. Not sure what to make of the difference between the primary and secondary markets. I get that his reach from his site for primary sales is much larger than the UAA forum but it seems odd that a collector hasn’t grabbed it. I suppose there is a big difference between the demand for a $55 print of 450 edition and a $900 print edition of 89 as some simply may not have the means to buy it. You may want to consider reaching out to the Obey team as they may have a waiting list of people waiting to see if any were returned. It’s a gorgeous piece. Best of luck. R

FAILE - Happens Everyday ORIGINAL, 2009, by rodgro on Aug 1, 2019 13:46:13 GMT 1, terrible example of the artists' worst work. you should just sell to me for tree fiddy. In fact, you should pay me to take it off your hands Love it! Given the release yesterday being priced at 6500 for a larger work, on a square inch basis it would be ~3783. Although it's a sought after image and a strong example, Faile's after market sucks. I think ballpark would be 4k. Didn’t know they had a release yesterday. That image isn’t at all iconic for them, and is also brand new. anyone who knows knows that HED is as FAILE as FAILE gets. This is a work for a true collector that believes in the longevity of the street art movement. A work like this will go down as an important work. The release yesterday will not.
Yes sir, yesterday they released an edition of 24 for $1450 and a couple of OG’s for $6500. They of course sold out in seconds, but I agree with the other member regarding their current secondary market being very soft so despite and regardless of how “Faile as Faile gets” you think your image is I wouldn’t expect to get the same or more than the recent $6500. That said, my comments, your comments and anyone else are simply opinions...the piece will sell for what the market dictates. I hope I’m mistaken and you get $6500+ as it’s a beautiful piece. Best. R

Oli Epp 🇬🇧 Post-Digital Pop • New Painting • Art For Sale, by rodgro on Jul 30, 2019 21:03:46 GMT 1, You may want to direct message the seller if you’re a serious buyer as that’s typically how it’s done. If you’re being cynical, you might wonder if he is the seller.
Thanks, wasn’t being cynical at all. Thought he/she may be new to the forum and wasn’t sure how to make offers, etc. I’m not familiar with this artist (before googling him after seeing the post and now like his work) so I have no idea if the amounts being thrown around are realistic or not as I don’t know the price range of his work. Based on reading (again google search) it sounds like there is quite a buzz about him and his work sells immediately. Anyway, was genuinely trying to be helpful. Best to all. R

For Sale Micallef Insect Ian Francis Faile Neate, by rodgro on Jul 30, 2019 14:01:01 GMT 1, Seller doesn’t seem to be responding to post questions so maybe I can help. I emailed him/her and got a quick response so I would suggest going that route if you would like pricing. Also, all are listed on the Bay so you can take a quick look to get an idea on asking prices. Best.

Murakami Flowerball Prints, by rodgro on Jul 21, 2019 14:43:48 GMT 1, Welcome to the forum. Always good to have new members. As others suggested, you will have much better luck selling something if you include prices, dimensions, etc. and your location is always a plus as most buyers will consider shipping costs, etc.
