blek le rat & shepard fairey prints, by rodgro on Jul 10, 2019 21:52:52 GMT 1, I just did a quick search and it looks like these are part of set of 4 prints that are based from pictures Blek’s wife took. The prints are signed by her, Blek and Shepard. Any chance you have the other 2?

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by rodgro on Jul 10, 2019 21:42:31 GMT 1, I 100% believe you but it seems insane and counterproductive the Warhol foundation refuses to authenticate his pieces. I wonder if this means that anything that predates their refusal to do so and comes with that authentication holds a higher value. I’ve always been interested in a piece of his but price range varies so much and it sounds like there is simply no way to know if it’s real or not so I think I’ll continue to admire from a far. Best. R

Selling my Sandra Chevrier canvas , by rodgro on Jun 22, 2019 17:01:21 GMT 1, Who cares who he is (gallery or individual) or why he's selling it. It's a beautiful piece of art. I don't love many of her pieces but loved the triptych (however you spell that) and own that set. I love this one. Personally I don't think it's worth $37k. I think it's worth $20-25k but that's my own estimate and everyone will have their own. One of a kind art is worth whatever the buyer and seller agree too. If I was going to buy this piece I would email Sandra and ask what she would charge to do one for me exactly as requested. She might or might not take commissions. I've done this before and some artists do and some don't. If she was willing I'd find out what these cost and offer that. (first to her and then that minus 10% here).
You might not care but with all due respect the majority of the members here DO CARE and would appreciate the common courtesy of knowing if they are buying from a private seller or a gallery. Just curious, is that always your strategy before buying something on the secondary market...contacting the artist to see if they will commission the exact piece and if so offer 10% less to seller?

For sale: Ryan Hewett and Ian Francis, by rodgro on Jun 22, 2019 16:48:19 GMT 1, Also open to trades, offers, and good ideas about how to move these nice paintings on. In terms of trades i am interested in Shepard Fairey HPMs or something other a bit more special than the usual editions.
Shep’s HPM’s are priced well beyond $1-2K paintings and/or $300 prints. What other trades are you considering on the “Airship” ? Thanks.

Etam Cru 🇵🇱 Sainer & Bezt • Street Art • Print Release , by rodgro on Jun 13, 2019 22:22:04 GMT 1, Hi all. I just heard back from Sainer. The “Flying Circus” print was actually released two different ways. There is a two color edition of 15 and a one color edition of 5. Both editions were identical as far as containing five 70 x 100 screen prints. The edition the seller has for sale is the one color edition of 5. Hope this helps.

Etam Cru 🇵🇱 Sainer & Bezt • Street Art • Print Release , by rodgro on Jun 13, 2019 2:01:23 GMT 1, Sorry all! Info above is calling into question my recollection of the print and my conversations with S about it. I just looked into my flat file and see that my set is actually an AP so there is at least one AP. Not sure anymore about the edition size so I just wrote to S to ask. I’ll post as soon as I hear back. Thanks all.

Etam Cru 🇵🇱 Sainer & Bezt • Street Art • Print Release , by rodgro on Jun 12, 2019 19:52:07 GMT 1, Hi, I hope you don’t mind me asking but how do you know that the other two have been destroyed? Do you know if any APs/PPs were produced? Plus damn, I always thought it’s edition of 15. If it’s only 3 then I guess I won’t be getting one.
Hi. I let the seller know this was the case which is what Sainer told me when I purchased mine directly from him. Seller is correct that it’s an edition of only 5. I’m not aware of any APs, PP’s, etc. This seller has 1, I have 1, and Shane (Art Whino) has the 3rd. Mine and Shane’s are likely in our collections for good so the sellers is the only one that will ever change hands. It’s a grail piece to me as it’s likely the largest piece that will ever come from Etam (Sainer) unless you want to pay them to do a mural for you Congrats to whoever ends up with it.

Blek le Rat Violinist (2014), by rodgro on May 28, 2019 9:39:59 GMT 1, There are several things that make it amazing to me, but before I answer your question it’s important to remember that my post is what I THINK. I am not saying it’s a fact that it’s amazing or that you or anyone else should think it’s amazing. It’s simply my opinion. With that said, I think it’s amazing because I love not only the content and detail of the image but also the white space. I also love that it was created by arguably one of the first and best and one of the most genuinely nice as is his wife. Unless you’re an artist I find it interesting that you say that it’s a “simple block stencil”. Personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable claiming that someone’s work is simple, easy or complex as I’m not qualified to say such a thing, but apparently you are. That’s the beauty of this forum and dialogue in general. Best. R Bit touchy , I only asked what's makes it amazing and of course is set to you so it's your opinion only and not counted as general consensus hence I asked. Contradict yourself as not qualified to comment work is simple or complex but amazing is usually perceived as of high standard?!🙈 I've studied a level and a btech advanced in art but as you said it doesn't matter as it's a forum and everyone has a part to play in dialog to understand and progress further. Was intrigued to see what sets it out to be amazing to maybe see your point of view?. Nice but fairly facile
Lol! How did I know this was exactly the response I would get. Literally text book passive aggressive. Actually aggressive passive aggressive as you say “bit touchy”, then you tell me how nice you are and you were only inquiring, and then back again with “contradicting myself”, telling me what amazing is and with the added touch of an insulting icon and then drumroll....you tell me how smart you are with advanced degrees in art. Classic stuff! I’m getting a vibe that your walls may be covered in art that you may not particularly like or connect with but someone at a gallery or point of sale convinced you how great they were with a host of important sounding words. If that’s the case might I suggest you simplify things and buy, hang and live with things you love. It’s all good though mate, regarding the passive aggressive stuff as I do appreciate the dialogue. Best to you and your family. R

For Sale Banksy, Faile, Fairey, Donwood, by rodgro on May 27, 2019 7:40:56 GMT 1, Shep piece is very interesting but it seems odd that he “would have left it to be “trashed” as you mention if he took the time to hand spray it. I’m interested but am having a bit of a hard time with a couple of things; 1st if the guy you bought it from actually saved it from the trash opposed to knicking it before it was collected and 2nd did Shep actually spray it. It would be helpful for me to know a bit more before I’m comfortable making an offer. Thanks. R

Beejoir LV Child Canvas $5500, by rodgro on May 17, 2019 3:15:41 GMT 1, I think the only point WOOF was trying to make is an artist signing a piece on the stretcher bar is unusual as the stretcher is simply not part of the artwork. I’m not suggesting Beejoir did anything wrong as Chris is truly a great guy, but it is odd and I’m not sure I would be okay with it or would purchase something that comes that way. I wouldn’t be happy is he numbered one of his sculptures on the display box or one of his prints on the frame, but I know he doesn’t do that as I’ve known him for years and own several pieces that are signed, numbered, etc on the actual artwork. I think it’s just something to consider. I get what you are trying to say but your examples are not relative to this piece. A display box is certainly completely different. This is a complete artwork. The stretcher bars are part of the work as made and sold directly by Chris. Not something added later by someone else. I’m a bit dumbfounded why this would concern anyone who has collected artwork for a long time. It’s not exactly an unusual practice, less common for sure but not unusual. Hell even prints recently like Hirsts and Julian Opie’s are signed on a sticker applied to the back of the print. Doesn’t seem to concern anyone. 🤷🏻♂️ If it is a concern just don’t reach out. No worries here. Lol.
My examples of a display box and framed print are IDENTICAL to stretchers if they were provided by the artist as part of the print or sculpture. That said, I was just giving my opinion of what I thought WOOF was trying to say and what would and wouldn’t work for me as a collector. As far as my comment about it being unusual to sign a stretcher bar rather than the canvas I stand by that as I’ve never seen seen a stretcher bar signed before but that doesn’t mean some artists don’t do it...no need for anyone to post saying my “insert name here” is signed on the stretcher bar as I’m NOT suggesting it doesn’t happen...I’ve just never seen it. Also not sure it makes sense to make a comparison between Chris and D. Hirst as the last I checked Chris doesn't have a factory and countless assistants. I do hope the piece sells/finds a great new home as it’s a classic image that will always be relevant in his body of work. Best. R

Martin Whatson Tiger AP, by rodgro on May 17, 2019 0:48:15 GMT 1, Welcome to the forum. A printers proof (PP) was £900 on the Graffiti Prints vault sale the other week which should give you a better idea of price. one ended on eBay at $1300 via auction. The right buyer will pay more for an instant sale. Maybe that buyer is here. GLWS op, don't let the price police beat you down.
You’re RIGHT in saying “good luck with the sale”, but WRONG in suggesting that anyone is trying to “beat him down”. These are friendly comments, that included a welcome, giving a new member some advice. ALL comments aside...if it’s priced right it will sell, if it’s not it won’t. Maybe you’re right about one other thing too...put it on eBay for that buy it now “instant” price.

Must Go: Shepard Fairey - Obey Offset from 2009, by rodgro on May 16, 2019 14:42:44 GMT 1,
B-I-N-G-O! This is exactly the problem with open editions. In theory they could potentially be worth more at some point but in reality the only way for that to happen is the artist would have to stop producing them. My opinion is that due to its iconic nature this particular image will never stop being produced while the artist is alive and can sign so unless you find a buyer that values a “09” next to his name instead of a “insert current year” next to his name it will only ever be worth what the artist is selling them for ($30 in this case) currently. Interesting question though...do collectors put a higher value on an older open edition?

Blek le Rat - Homeless in Paris Canvas , by rodgro on May 16, 2019 14:33:07 GMT 1, i genuinely don't know what the price should be! i've tried looking for recent sales but come up with nothing so thinking it will just find it's price if people make sensible offers. there's one up for auction somewhere with an estimate of 4-6K Euros but that's all i can find and an estimate is just a guesstimate, as anyone who's bought at auction knows (to their joy/dismay!) Sorry if I seem vague but I just don't know what number to stick on it - "I'm noo here" so not au fait with best practice. Would people prefer i put a big number on it and try to beat me down? I can if that's the protocol, but it seems unnecessarily complicated ...?
I could be wrong but I would say that “auction somewhere” reference you made with an estimate of 4-6K is wildly optimistic. My guess, again I could be wrong, is that a piece that size would be primary market priced with 2 or 3 in front of it and who knows on secondary. Blek is 100% the real deal and arguably one of if not the best but his market is not crazy. Gorgeous piece though. Hope it finds a great new home. R
i genuinely don't know what the price should be! i've tried looking for recent sales but come up with nothing so thinking it will just find it's price if people make sensible offers. there's one up for auction somewhere with an estimate of 4-6K Euros but that's all i can find and an estimate is just a guesstimate, as anyone who's bought at auction knows (to their joy/dismay!) Sorry if I seem vague but I just don't know what number to stick on it - "I'm noo here" so not au fait with best practice. Would people prefer i put a big number on it and try to beat me down? I can if that's the protocol, but it seems unnecessarily complicated ...? I could be wrong but I would say that “auction somewhere” reference you made with an estimate of 4-6K is wildly optimistic. Blek le Rat - Homeless in Paris Canvas , by rodgro on May 16, 2019 14:24:17 GMT 1, i genuinely don't know what the price should be! i've tried looking for recent sales but come up with nothing so thinking it will just find it's price if people make sensible offers. there's one up for auction somewhere with an estimate of 4-6K Euros but that's all i can find and an estimate is just a guesstimate, as anyone who's bought at auction knows (to their joy/dismay!) As you have already researched and found nothing of recent to compare , you are most likely to get lowball offers as to the buyers advantage , you know what you bought it for , put a rough figure you would like so you can get offers around that figure otherwise offers will be wildly random , blek has a following but nothing excitable in high prices in the secondary market. This canvas of yours is one of the better examples of his work and instantly recognisable as blek and would say a future classic ,the artist is getting old😉
Totally agree with Tab1. What’s “unnecessarily complicated” is to say you have no idea. At least give potential buyers something to work with such as “offers above x” or something on those lines. Best with the sale. R

James Cauty. Portslade Massiff ORIGINAL collage, by rodgro on May 4, 2019 12:25:44 GMT 1, A rare opportunity to purchase a James Cauty Original collage. The Star of the Portslade Massiff exhibition. I have receipt as proof of purchase. The Frame is in overall very good condition. A few flecks of paint, varnish have come off over time, but could be easily touched up.
Dimensions 38 x 50 inches
I recently had it valued at £6000.00, but will be happy to accept the best offer.
You may want to consider replacing that piece of string that looks to be in several pieces with an actual proper wire considering it’s value. Best. R

Such a great piece and as always MFM killed it with the framing. If only you were in the US and that was $800US instead of BP.

Nick Walker - Vandal Airways, by rodgro on May 4, 2019 12:17:20 GMT 1, I really like the framing on this, who did that job? Looks awesome!
Posting says “framed by MFM”. That’s Mr. Frameman if you’re not familiar. Arguably one of the best in the bus. He is on the forum as well. R

sold, by rodgro on May 4, 2019 11:48:58 GMT 1, Nice post! Much more direct on the Pomet post than your previous attempts. Even if folks decide not to discuss openly, I think you’ll know soon enough if your suggested difference of 750 BP between mint and damaged is correct. If buyers agree it will sell, if not it won’t. What I’ve seen from the forum is that many serious collectors simply wont touch a print with damage and others are happy to buy at a discount. Best with the sale. R Yeah i decided to stick a number on it, I have been upfront regarding the dent so why not stick a number on it i feel comfortable selling at. I've had some DM's about other owners who also experienced some faint dents in on or two corners while buying from source. So I figured when there are more out there with slight dents a discount would be in place, but not slashing prices in half
I think that’s a wise move as it seems the forum isn’t big on “make me an offer” posts. At least with a number you will only likely hear from serious buyers who have the means to pay in the range you posted. It’s a great piece. Wish you the best. R

Originals Sale- Monsta, Marco Mazzoni, Wes21-Remo Lienhard, by rodgro on May 4, 2019 11:45:00 GMT 1, Amazing Etam Cru paintings. In "Poisonous" I think I can see the guy with the bird in his head is by Sainer and the background is by Bezt, and in "The Journey" the woman is by Sainer and the tortoise is by Bezt... is that right? I am in love with Sainer and Aryz deep and nostalgic paintings, they truly have something to say (no just lots of empty production and 800 shows per year). GLWTS!!!
Good question. I will ask them the next time we speak as I’m curious as well. If you’re right these are worth even more than other Etam (Sainer or Betz) paints as it’s very rare for them to paint anything, other than murals, together. I only know of one other painting. I have two Etam paintings from this era but they are both Sainer. I think Poisonous was the stronger of the two, but seems it’s long since sold...but both are gorgeous. Best. R
