FS: HF Unique Martin Whatson prints, by Acme Thunderer on May 21, 2023 7:05:41 GMT 1, It's all bullshit, I was singled out and continuously harassed by the douche bags that run the Fans of Martin Whatson Facebook group. I have been buying, selling, and trading different art for 5 years. I would love to have a single person come forward and say that I have done them wrong. We had one print smashed by USPS... we came to an agreement with that buyer who chose to keep the "damaged" print and sent 2 others that more than compensated them. Another who just had buyers remorse and made a huge deal about a scuff, that was not really there. He was fully refunded once he shipped the print back. I stand behind my sales 110%. I have sold literally hundreds of art prints, panels, and Acrylic pieces across the globe. I plenty of references and encourage PayPal Goods and Services or any other way you wish to protect your purchase. So ridiculous. Haters gonna hate. Even those bad situations I outlined above, we offered refunds or different prints to remedy the situation. Would love 1 person.... 1.... to show proof of having a had a bad transaction with me. Fuck you Doug Heck, David Shows, and any other haters from that Whatson group who have been riding my ass for years. They put a magnifying glass to every post or comment I have ever made. Again, my track record of positive transactions should speak for itself. Well that didnโt take long for someone to come forward.
BTW, you sound absolutely charming. ๐

Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by Acme Thunderer on May 20, 2023 16:00:10 GMT 1, Yโall are coming down way too hard on FairArt imo. They openly discussed and debated the topic here, and ultimately decided to remove the listing. I think that is very mature for a budding company. The art world and all its nuances contains a great deal of complexity, and I donโt think itโs fair to pass judgment on a new company in this space so quickly. Especially since they mean well and are welcome to open dialogue with forum members. While I didnโt necessarily agree with their original stance, I am happy they came to the conclusion to remove the listing. I am confident that long term, these actions will be a step forward in their business and I wish them success going forward. I definitely didnโt see anyone being โtoo hardโ on them, but it was actually quite โFairโ.
If it wasnโt raised so eloquently by met and calmly discussed then it would not have been resolved.
I would only give them credit for listening quickly, but that is all.
I wouldnโt be surprised to see them go back on their word in the future and they only done it this time as they realised they looked bad (and as gus mentioned, it was probably listed by someone they know). Previously, they said they would stop contacting sellers on eBay and that ugly duckling has reared its ugly head again!
I know there are people on this forum who have works listed on the platform, so they will be supportive as having a vested interest, but like others have eluded to, I certainly wouldnโt trust buying or selling on this platform until I see them play โFairโ and not just paying lip-service.

Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by Acme Thunderer on May 20, 2023 13:02:36 GMT 1, Hi Acme Thunderer , Not at all, I think this was covered in my my previous response: โLet me be clear. This does not mean that we encourage the prevalence of โflippingโ in the market, and as we said in our response, we support the work primary galleries do to ensure the works they allocate end up in the hands of people who actually want them. Non-resale agreements are one of a number of obstacles galleries put in place to prevent flipping. Unfortunately, as Iโm sure you know, they tend to be ignored altogether.
The conclusion we came to was that reselling, whether the โgoodโ or the โbadโ kind, is always going to be a reality of the secondary art market. Currently, the only beneficiaries of private collector-to-collector sales are marketplaces such as Ebay / StockX and resellers; meanwhile, the artist sees none of the short-term profit they create by making their works more accessible and affordable.
So, if itโs going to happen, why should artists not at the very least receive a cut to minimise the harm done by short-term reselling and share in the value they create for others through their work?โWeโd really appreciate any thoughts and suggestions you might have on how to address this wider issue. We actively seek feedback from collectors in this forum, and we are grateful when we receive it, but we believe simply ignoring the issue and allowing for artists to continue to be excluded cannot be the answer. We have reached out directly to Avant Arte to discuss this further and find a solution. Have a great weekend. โจโจ Thanks, Nick An artist places trust in a gallery to release their work and the artist requests the no resale agreement.
If the artist wanted resale commission / ARR from auction houses (or online platforms that hide the sellers identity), they would not stipulate the no resale agreement.
Please do not dress up that you are helping the artist, as the artist never needed your help in the first place otherwise they would never have requested the agreement in the first place.
At the end of the day, you are going against the artists wishes and you are encouraging flipping.
Have a great weekend. ๐

Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by Acme Thunderer on May 20, 2023 12:17:05 GMT 1, Hi met , Thank you for this in-depth analysis of what is a controversial topic. Before getting into it, I wanted to note that we have great admiration for the work you do in this forum. Your posts are always clear, insightful and help collectors get to the truth. We appreciate that discussions around the reselling of works can be highly charged, and there is rarely a consensus. Someone from AA approached us a little while on this topic and in the interest of complete transparency, please see our response below: "We have had a few other galleries get in touch for similar reasons, but after having spoken through our mission with them, they have decided to let things lie.
Galleries on the whole have been receptive due to our focus on artist royalties. FairArt seeks to erode the profits of resellers on the secondary market, and share them back with artists who have previously been excluded from the value they create through their hard work. โจ We know how much time galleries such as yourselves spend on trying to place works in the right hands and away from flippers, and we fully support this. However, FairArt seeks to minimise the damage heavy speculation can cause an artistโs long term career prospects through artist royalties. Our ultimate hope is that we are the start of a much wider industry shift towards fairer compensation on both primary and secondary markets, for each and every artist. You can learn more about FairArt royalties here.
At the end of the day, if we remove this listing from the platform the seller will simply seek to sell it on another marketplace, and the artist will be completely excluded from any royalties being paid (in this case the royalties would go back to the Design Museum). Please refer to a simple search on Artsy for Roby Dwi Antonoโs work and you will find a number of your editions are being resold within a two-year period โ unfortunately, in these cases the artist will receive no compensation.
As mentioned, we fully support your efforts in seeking to prevent speculators from receiving your work, but reselling is an undeniable reality of the industry and if itโs going to happen, why not ensure that it does some good in further helping artists?
We hope that you share in our vision for a fairer secondary market and greater support for artists. After all, none of us would be here without them."Let me be clear. This does not mean that we encourage the prevalence of โflippingโ in the market, and as we said in our response, we support the work primary galleries do to ensure the works they allocate end up in the hands of people who actually want them. So, if itโs going to happen, why should artists not at the very least receive a cut to minimise the harm done by short-term reselling and share in the value they create for others through their work? Please know that we have given this an immense amount of thought. Weโre not claiming that FairArt is a silver bullet that will solve all of these issues, but we do want FairArt to push collectors to have these sorts of discussions around reselling and the value of royalties. Ultimately, we believe they are crucial to the future of the industry and pushing us towards more sustainable models for artists in the secondary market. As I said above, we know this is a highly charged topic with little consensus, but I think the majority would agree that the current state of affairs does little good for the wider art community โ and that change needs to happen. Thanks, Nick โฆso the short version of this is that โyou donโt care about resale agreements and you only care about yourselvesโ ๐ค
Interesting that you admit Avant Arte did contact you as they were obviously concerned with how you operate in the first place.

Kawa TIME OFF, FAMILY, and SHELTER, by Acme Thunderer on May 19, 2023 20:18:29 GMT 1, Is Kaws deliberately trying to sabotage his career? These images are so bland! Gotta be close to saturation for people who want a Kaws print. Probably doesn't care anymore about his rep. All editions are sold out on Kawsone. The guy has 4.3M followers on IG - as an artist that is a huge number- over 4 times that of Hirst. The guys knows what he is doing- very astute - a businessman who uses all the financial and analytical tools for assessing his market base. He is not interested in feeding the flippers. Like Koons he knows both marketing and human psychology. Just as well he isnโt taking advice from a bunch of folks on UAA - or heโd be living in his mumโs spare room and no one would know him. Having said all that - these are terrible ๐คฃ. Two of the editions are still available and not sold out. ๐

PEZ, by Acme Thunderer on May 18, 2023 19:17:39 GMT 1, I was surprised to see that 6 people paid ยฃ2,222.22 + 20% vat (ยฃ2,666.66) for a hand finished print of this release. I appreciate that the hand finishing was nicely done on these, but that does seem high as a release price. Always a possibility of a vault sale. I thought that was vault sale prices when I saw them. ๐ Apparently another 4 will be sold at some point, so probably ยฃ4995 each by then.

FS: HF Unique Martin Whatson prints, by Acme Thunderer on May 18, 2023 18:32:13 GMT 1, Thanks met - we all need to look out for each other. ๐
I know 100% it is the same person and was kind of expecting them to pop up at some point on UAA once their other options were closed off. Anyone else on the Whatson Facebook group can read the other comments made about this seller.

I donโt know the circumstances, but those in this group normally know what they are talking about.

Hope you donโt mind me using your photo Morfx as Iโve used it to show the ones I would like.

Heni x Invader 'Rubikcubism', by Acme Thunderer on May 17, 2023 9:49:20 GMT 1, I got caught in two minds on whether to buy Marilyn or Camouflage, and missed the deadline - and HENI wouldn't take a late order - which is fair enough. For laughs, I took the suggestion of one of the members here, and got the artwork from the HENI site printed on a 1m x 1m Dibond for about โฌ70, and it came today. Might be a bit darker, but I am very happy with the end-product. Just need to figure out a hanging solution now! Think I'll get Camouflage done too, but brighten it up a tad. I am sorry but doing this in the exact same dimensions is something you should never do. The is illegal copy, it is forbidden, you just canโt do this pal! Heni should nโy have given hd images allowing to do this but even of they did, it grives no authorisation to any body. by the way, I donโt understand what pleasure you get from this. Blimey - calm down and get over it - itโs not being passed as a fake and very noticeably different materials. You only be upset the Matt version actually looks better.
Iโm sure it wonโt affect Heniโs balance sheet either.
Iโm also sure Marilyn Monroe gets no credit for her face being repeatedly used without her (or estate) permission by different artists.

Heni x Invader 'Rubikcubism', by Acme Thunderer on May 16, 2023 23:55:14 GMT 1, Acme Thunderer - Yep. It was your idea! So, thanks for that. I got an Irish printer to print it. I wasn't sure the resolution was actually high enough for 1m x 1m, but it looks good. I'll brighten the next image a bit for Camouflage. It has a scratch-proof coat (or it was ordered), but it is matt - not glossy, which was my preference. So, I won't have to worry about shine. ๐ I think Heni should take the credit for supplying the high res images. ๐
Matt is definitely the way to go and yours has inspired me. Iโve got a supplier who could create texture on the dibond to give an embossing effect so I might try that.

I feel partly responsible ๐ for sharing high res image links and dibond supplier details.

I am also impressed that your version isnโt shiny and reflective. Good work. ๐

Nick Smith ๐ฌ๐ง Pixelated Art โข Colour Swatches โข New Print, by Acme Thunderer on May 16, 2023 18:11:28 GMT 1, When you look at this release it is very large edition of 750 prints + 30 AP prints (in box set) + 23 XL Air Jordan prints as well as 8 originals.
I really like them, but didnโt love them enough to buy one. If I did want to buy one, I would have only gone tonight if I had one reserved to pick up (and I expect this is what others might have done).
If anyone finds out more about the art talk that Nick is doing on Saturday, let me know as I might pop to the exhibition for that. ๐๐๐

Various items for sale, by Acme Thunderer on May 14, 2023 16:15:45 GMT 1, I've not sold anything on the forum for a while (as been buying far too much instead over the last few years), so time to clear out a few things no longer on the wall as run out of space, impulse purchases that won't make the wall and sell some items where I've got spares so I won't hoard. It will also help me clear out some packaging and tubes I have stored away.
Prices for everything listed on this thread is already kept very keen so no lower offers please. The only trades I will consider are listed below. I will update this thread when items are sold and fully paid for.
Will charge postage at cost and can send UK or overseas. Everything will be VERY WELL packaged. I can send unframed prints in a tube or flat (postage at your cost). The large framed prints will be meet up only and I'm happy to drive and meet in most areas of the UK as I'm fairly central. Let me know where you are located if interested.
You can buy with confidence from a long-standing forum member for a smooth deal.
I can provide more details/photos if needed, but hopefully I've given you everything you need already. Have kept all sales on the thread but in different posts to keep it clearer.

Signed Limited Edition of 100 from Rashid Johnson, Kaws, by Acme Thunderer on May 13, 2023 13:42:08 GMT 1, Snoop Dogg / Kaws already sold out. Not bad selling 900 records for $100 in less than 24 hours. Guess the Snoop is now celebrating.

Nick Smith ๐ฌ๐ง Pixelated Art โข Colour Swatches โข New Print, by Acme Thunderer on May 12, 2023 20:47:35 GMT 1, These are the prints that will be released and are in the box set. I really like the Superstars print (as thatโs what I mainly wear). Ian Brown and Run DMC would be proud of you. I used to have a pair of the Ian Brown 35th anniversary trainers and wore them out. If only I kept them mint in the box. Actually, Iโm glad I wore them instead.

Signed Limited Edition of 100 from Rashid Johnson, Kaws, by Acme Thunderer on May 11, 2023 22:02:26 GMT 1, I think the first 100 that were signed/numbered were already released earlier this year, then the 900 unsigned versions are just about to be released.

'Banksy' piece at The Greatest Auction , by Acme Thunderer on May 11, 2023 9:23:49 GMT 1, I watched this last night and it seemed obvious to me that Bank robber was the seller and buyer, looking to legitimise the piece and his reputation by sticking it on TV. Why channel four would have accepted this as an auction piece when antiques road show dealt with a street piece as they should (its worthless), is blatantly a publicity stunt for bank robber to try and paint himself as an expert in the field so ha can start to self certify authentic works. Or I just overthink things like normal. โฆand he was also responsible for the telephone shill bidding from Dubai to bump up the price.
Was very cringe worthy.
