Banksy โข Wrong War โข Pax Britannica , by hnkpnk on Mar 14, 2014 22:59:00 GMT 1, The chopper stencil used on the fakes are taken from the screen print. And it's not the same stencil as the real placards, so it's easy to tell if you know what to look for. No I won't tell the difference.
There has been a lot of these fakes on Ebay since ca 2006 and even Vermin had a fake they gave a COA they had to revoke after a discussion here. I haven't seen one real on Ebay ever. I don't know about the Artnet one, so please post a link.

Banksy GWB, by hnkpnk on Mar 12, 2014 12:48:50 GMT 1, "ยฃ5-ยฃ5.5k I would guess" "Closer to $10k these days." "Yeah I wouldn't consider getting rid of mine for 5.5k, would definitely need to be closer to $10k for me to want to part ways with it."
ยฃ5.5' = $9.1' so you're pretty much in agreement.

Banksy's on eBay โข Real or Fake?, by hnkpnk on Mar 10, 2014 22:03:25 GMT 1, Thought I'd seen it before and found it in a pic I downloaded in 2008. No idea from where unfortunately. Pretty sure it's real, but at that price it's expensive even for an authenticated, pretty bad and early Banksy.

Banksy's on eBay โข Real or Fake?, by hnkpnk on Mar 10, 2014 15:05:13 GMT 1, Looks like it could be an early one, but what's the reason for it being unauthenticated? And why is there no info?

bargain of the century, by hnkpnk on Mar 9, 2014 0:38:37 GMT 1, Well.... i asked for provenonce for the piece....... This is what i got back.... hahaha Dear hanley*123, Hi mate, Yes well all i know is that banksy did it for someone as a gift i was told was actually in return for a illegal substance haha that's what he told me and he lived in Bath just outside Bristol. He took me into his cellar and it was like a art museum he had assorts. he was called Andrew Parkinson and he looked about late 40s. He had the pest control certificate and i thought he was plausible i payed 10000 in 2006 so i wont be letting it go for no less than the 15000. thanks Could it really be that the seller believed his own story? From 2010:
"A conman art dealer who swindled ยฃ1million out of wealthy clients by selling them famous paintings he didnโt own has been jailed for two and a half years.
Andrew Parkinson, 49, used his respected gallery in Street, Somerset, to broker sales of original works by leading artists including Damien Hirst, Rolf Harris and Jack Vettriano."

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by hnkpnk on Feb 28, 2014 11:30:12 GMT 1, But each COA is numbered uniquely, so i for example if one is lost they can issue another, and cancel the first. If the first is found then it no longer would be the valid COA..... Do you know if this is how PC do it?
In that case the COA is not "good enough" on it's own. You have to check with PC that the print hasn't two or more COAs attached to it. Even though you're experienced enough to see that it's a real COA.
If more than one COA exist for a print it would be possible to attach the extra COA to a backdoor print with added numbering.
Edit: I realize the forged print with the extra COA wouldn't check out with PCs records, but it would be a pretty good forgery which would fool even an experienced collector.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by hnkpnk on Feb 28, 2014 11:09:28 GMT 1, yes saint is 100% bang on iv done it myself a few times and i know a friend has done it a few times as well. its an easy process and in my experience it only takes a few days for them to get back to you if everything is sweet. But you won't get a new COA if it already has one, surely?

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by hnkpnk on Feb 28, 2014 10:58:59 GMT 1, Yes you will need to do a new enquiry, send photos etc, they will authenticate it again, change it to your name, and then ask if you want the COA.... Are you sure this is correct as the print already has a COA?
The owners name doesn't appear on the COA and they can't (shouldn't) issue two COAs for the same print. That would open a new door for fakes surely?

Banksy ยฃ10 โข Di-Faced Tenner, by hnkpnk on Feb 28, 2014 10:30:43 GMT 1, The easiest way to know if your Di-faced tenner is real is to buy a (real) Banksy print, apply for and receive a COA from Pest Control and then compare the half of a note on the COA to your Ebay-bought tenner.

Kissing Coppers Street Piece Sold, by hnkpnk on Feb 19, 2014 17:37:29 GMT 1, Sweet. I know how to make a stencil. Now I can start making and selling 80% real Banksys. I guess what they mean is that the stencil on the pub wall is 80% Banksy.
Despite all the restorations and "transfer [of] the image onto a canvas" (and then aluminium?) they still consider that as the original. I don't.

Kissing Coppers Street Piece Sold, by hnkpnk on Feb 19, 2014 16:27:32 GMT 1, I don't understand this... the original piece was damaged a couple of times, and then repainted. This piece that's been repainted is still in situ on the pub, and looking much like this: bit.ly/1jbUVxqI don't get what it is they've sold, or how or when it was removed from the pub without anyone noticing. Even if they somehow removed the original piece of wall, it would have been repainted to such a degree that I would just consider it a replica of the original piece. It's all very odd. It was even worse than that:

OUTIS โข Print Release โข Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 14, 2014 19:19:01 GMT 1, Are people are really disgusted by gp? I doubt it. There are more things to be disgusted by than a gallery releasing a print. All he said was a mystery artist and all because a thread by another member mentioned banksy and maybe a bit of cute marketing by the artist gp are now duping everyone ! People put your underpants back on and move away from the keyboard... I wonder if people will be disgusted enough not to put their name down on his next print giveaway! Sent from my C5303 using proboards Hnkpnk, I believe you started the thread regarding the Banksy link? Are you Outis? No, and not Banksy either unfortunately. My involvement in this sure back fired.
I found a link to the fake Facebook page via swedish street art blog gatukonst.se (link doesn't seem to work: www.facebook.com/gatukonst.se ) on Facebook. They also thought it was an official Banksy page and was intrigued. I convinced them it was fake and they deleted their post and made a new one where they explained that.
My curiosity made me look into it (I'm pretty good at finding out things on the web, if I may say so myself) and post here on this thread as I supposed someone should know something. And soon afterward Graffiti Prints posted that they were behind the release first on my thread and then started this. The rest you know.
Read my posts and you'll see I've been very critical to the way this was released. I think GP has tried to play dumb and they didn't reply to any of the questions I asked. They sure know more than what they say.
I couldn't believe the reaction this had. And not in a good way.
I haven't had time to read all posts on the thread and I won't be able to follow much in the next few days if there are any more questions to me. Read the first few pages and I think you'll see where I stand.
Edit : link

OUTIS โข Print Release โข Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 12, 2014 21:31:00 GMT 1, I have not been a member of this forum for very long but have followed it with great interest for sometime It seemed to me that the common advice of the majority of members here was that a piece of art was only worth the value of the person buying it. E.g. If you like a piece of art and happy with the cost, buy it!! After reading this thread it seems to me that the whole fiasco surrounding the sale of this print has been caused by the people complaining about it!!!! Complaining about the Gallery, about the speed of sale, if people who purchased the print like it or not and about the artist and his talent/method. If you liked it and bought it - Congrats If you don't like it - Ignore it Simple No it never was that simple: Does it matter, an artist's attitude

OUTIS โข Print Release โข Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 12, 2014 0:20:20 GMT 1, i am honestly stunned by this thread in all sorts of ways. i repeat im 99.9% sure its not banksy and i never linked it to him. i know it sounds hard to understand working with a artist you have never met and dont know who they are but you do get a feel for people in emails and i go on gut instinct right or wrong but i do. i have worked with artists before i dont know what there first name is never mind who they are and a classic example is dot all i had seen was the work online which i loved so asked and asked to print till he finally gave in. i feel s**t calling him dot when we talk via facebook under his dot account but i do. we are a print house and never wanted to be a gallery, we do like to have show's and have two coming this year all going to plan. we are trying our best to bring what we said we would at the start quality prints from up and coming artists and some well known names. i love the fact we can make a amazing well printed product for someone who could never afford to do it and go the extra mile with colours and processes. fact is we loving printing full stop i am addicted to the process, i took my os gemeos print into my printers today and got a 1 hour lesson on how it was made, the machines, the process and he pointed out lots of fine details we were looking through a magnifying glass. the point is its all based on passion, his lesson, me listening the hour lasted 5 mins for me as does my days doing this sometimes i love it. to be fair to this print its a beautiful 6 colour screen print, i am bummed no one noticed the flash of gold metallic in the yellow of the flowers thats the geek i am... Care to answer the questions I've asked?

OUTIS โข Print Release โข Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 11, 2014 21:29:58 GMT 1, The Facebook page looks in every way as if it's an official Banksy-BOTI page. The only thing posted there except copied BOTI stuff is the Outis picture and link.
The page has been liked by 16 050 people, most of which I believe think it's an official Banksy page and wouldn't mind a print. Do the maths.

The page has been liked by 16 050 people, most of which I believe think it's an official Banksy page and wouldn't mind a print. Do the maths.
