OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 11, 2014 21:07:29 GMT 1, Im also guessing this is JPS up to idiocy again. But even if thats wrong, the whole thing of if you remove the brand etc, is clearly just a devious attempt to make sales by trying to align it to Banksy!! Whom if he were to want to release a sneaky print, would probably not play such a stupid game with his fan base!! Nothing against you GP, always seemed a good guy! But i think this release was a misjudgement. But i accept you most likely didn't realise the stupidity the artist was entering into. He has never aligned himself to banksy though apart from the rat in the picture the other guy posted that stuff, I can see why you take the quote as something to do with banksy but it could apply to the clothing trade whatever. It's only after the guy posting new banksy that it got taken in that context! Think he probably just meant it about the world of brands in general which applies to art as well. I will always take a risk on unknown artists if I like there pictures that's what we set out to do in the first place. OK, let's break this down:
www.facebook.com/banksyny.co.uk, a well-made, but fake Banksy page suddenly posts pictures and links to Outis webpage with the comment "If you took away the brand name, what would you have left?" as if it's a new Banksy project without the Banksy name.
The Outis web page has borrowed everything in style from the BOTI web, again hinting at Banksy. First with pictures of a stencil piece behind blue tarp and a picture of a stack of prints, and then the revealed wall with a a Banksy rat, an elephant and a flower bouquet. Not Banksy enough for you?
The name "Outis": From Wikipedia: "Artists, writers and others in public life use this pseudonym in order to hide their identity." This hinting at an anonymous, famous artist under pseudonym.
At the same time you start this thread about the print release: "mysterious artist", "we don't know jack s**t about the artist" etc.
Are you really saying that you had no idea about what your "mysterious" artist was up to with the Facebook page, the look of the Outis page and you didn't see any resemblance with Banksy except the rat? Either you are stupid, have no or very little contact with your artist (as you say) or you're trying to sell a lot of prints by associating it with Banksy. I know what I believe.
I don't think the print is too bad, but I really hate when artists and galleries try to earn fame and money through Banksys name. That's why I'm angry.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 11, 2014 18:12:28 GMT 1, You didn't see the Banksy rat when you received the sprayed version? no i seen it when he first sent me a picture of the piece, you posted thread linking to banksy then u tell me off for it WTF For reference:
www.facebook.com/banksyny.co.uk www.artofoutis.com/ www.facebook.com/pages/Art-of-Outis/211998715667758 urbanartassociation.com/thread/113583/new-banksy-print-doubt
So you received a sprayed artwork from an artist you didn't know anything about and decided you'd release it. You didn't know anything about the links above? You didn't think about Banksy when you saw the rat in the corner? You're not 100% sure it's not Banksy?
Edit: you didn't see any resemblance between Outis web page and the BOTI web page?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 11, 2014 17:29:19 GMT 1, i never thought about banksy, its stencil art not banksy art and i was super disappointed when the guy posted up as banksy (i doubt it) as i never wanted it to be associated with banksy. You didn't see the Banksy rat when you received the sprayed version?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 11, 2014 17:22:10 GMT 1, I for one trust GP on this, as Graffiti Prints have done some excellent work over the past few months and reputationaly wouldn't want to sell there customers a pup. Come to think of it I can't think of one GP release that hasn't been well received on here, so why damage that for a quick profit? thanks - we did just like the image and took the risk, the image is a nice valentines type image with the twist in the flowers i thought the image itself raised questions but no one has mentioned that. i never thought about banksy, its stencil art not banksy art and i was super disappointed when the guy posted up as banksy (i doubt it) as i never wanted it to be associated with banksy. Then why are you talking about "taking away the brand name" for a completely unknown artist? If not to try to associate him with someone famous?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by hnkpnk on Feb 11, 2014 16:49:02 GMT 1, From wikipedia: "Outis is an often used pseudonym. Artists, writers and others in public life use this pseudonym in order to hide their identity."
So this "mysterious" artist registered banksyny on Facebook with a link to banksy.co.uk on the first day of BOTI. Then only posted exactly what was on Banksys BOTI-page. Nothing since until yesterday with a link to a page with all the trademark signs of the Banksy web page.
And now you know nothing about this "artist"? And the "taking away the brand name"?
You're just trying to sell a bad Banksy copycat as if it was Banksy under pseudonym. Nice try, but no thanks. But a pretty good scam.
Edit: forgot to mention the rat. Edit2: I realize you can read the above as if i believe it's Banksy. No I don't, but I admire the work that's gone into the hoax.

New Banksy print? (doubt it), by hnkpnk on Feb 10, 2014 20:51:21 GMT 1, Yes definitely. But pretty well done.
The Facebook page started oct 1st, the same day as BOTI, and has only posted pics from the official web page up till now.

Banksy • Monkey Parliament Poster, by hnkpnk on Feb 9, 2014 21:12:07 GMT 1, Wasnt it an unlimited run of these posters?. The poster wasn't limited, but that doesn't mean it was unlimited.
Of the Bristol Museum posters this was the most popular and definitely the hardest to get. I don't think it ever was sold at POW or elsewhere and at the museum it was only available off and on.

Jean-Michel Basquiat 🇺🇸 Brooklyn, New York • Graffiti Art , by hnkpnk on Feb 3, 2014 9:16:14 GMT 1, Second, I do not see anything wrong being a new member of this forum. You all started this membership thing by having your first thread here weeks, months or years ago. It is absolutely normal to be new here. My first post wasn't trying to sell a six figure Basquiat without provenance.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by hnkpnk on Dec 23, 2013 13:09:32 GMT 1, This is a "backdoor Banksy" but it's from the Modern Multiples batch of prints and it's the first backdoor print I've seen from MM.
The story behind this one is that it was taped to the top of the box containing the original batch of prints, hence the blue circle and the slightly battered appearance. Printed on Arches 88.
Off to be framed shortly

Banksy Pulp Fiction Print, by hnkpnk on Dec 21, 2013 12:05:48 GMT 1, I agree the price will be reduced, but to say 10-30% of mint price is ridiculous. More like ~30% off the mint price for dry mount. If in good condition otherwise. You think someone will pay close to 10,000 gbp for a dry mounted print? Could be wrong but I think when you get to those levels few will pay that much for dry mounted. My reaction was to your "10-30% of mint price" for the dry mounting. I think the asking price here (12') is much too high on the private market. My guess would be somewhere between 6' and 10' for mint and then 20-30% off for the dry mount.
But I would gladly buy these at 10%= £1200 or even 30% =£3600 of the asked price.
(Edit: you meant 10-30% of (not off) the mint price, didn't you?)

Banksy Pulp Fiction Print, by hnkpnk on Dec 20, 2013 23:58:45 GMT 1, Has anyone had one successfully reversed? I wouldn't risk it. I'd say just live with it. You won't be able to sell them for much (maybe 10 to 30% of mint price) but at least you still have the image in one piece. I would remove them from the frames to get the glass off. Make sure they are not stuff to the glass already. I agree the price will be reduced, but to say 10-30% of mint price is ridiculous. More like ~30% off the mint price for dry mount.
