New Nick Walker, by delano on Oct 19, 2014 18:43:15 GMT 1, & after all that, someone went to the show & asked to buy the "Ray Man" piece.
it has been brought from the studio to the show for collection.
so, now everyone is correct.

New Nick Walker, by delano on Oct 18, 2014 3:29:25 GMT 1, The piece with the "rays" coming out of his chest is not even part of the show... The book tells a very different story of the artist, to that portrayed on here. Perhaps some of the forum "experts" should take a look. *& for the record, I do not own any Nick Walker work x Gothamist has 2 pictures of the image on their article on the show. is it an older piece?
Just to clarify what I wrote earlier - The piece with the "rays" coming out of his chest is not even part of the show.
Don't believe everything you read or see on Gothamist. I was there.
In fact, 7 of the photos in the Gothamist article do not relate to pieces in the current show. & I don't believe Gothamist ever said they were.

New Nick Walker, by delano on Oct 17, 2014 2:08:40 GMT 1, Wow, I guess people see what they want to see.
I was also at the opening tonight, & I encountered a packed venue with a great crowd, saw 15 new canvases, 3 new prints, a book.
There was also a free bar & a dandy selection of tunes.
Yes, the Royal Doulton pieces were there, but they were hardly prevalent.

Whatson, by delano on Oct 12, 2014 21:58:48 GMT 1, I hope that both Nick Walker and Martin Whatson read this and stop making stencils.
Why on earth would two stencil artists cease working & give up their careers on the back of a bunch of negative comments in this thread?

The Connor Brothers 🇬🇧 Mike Snelle & James Golding, by delano on Oct 11, 2014 19:14:04 GMT 1, CONnor Brothers, the name says it all really. Oh, how they must have laughed & high fives each other when they settled on that moniker.
But this whole episode does raise another question - when is an artist actually an artist?
In the first instance you have the Connor Brother clowns. They created a devious back story about the so called artists, & then came up with the ideas for the pieces for others to paint. So, what is their role - are they art directors, creative directors or artists?
You then have the likes of Mr Brainwash & his ilk. Again, these guys come up with ideas for others to paint. So, apart from the fake back story, how do they differ from the above?
There are then the high profile "street artists" who get people like Colossal Media to paint walls on their behalf. Maybe they don't want to get their hands dirty, maybe they no longer want to paint on illegal spaces. But as these artists are not painting the pieces, then are they not themselves undermining their own work.
& finally turning the whole thing on its head - what about when artists are painting the ideas of others. So, in this instance, they are producing the work, but the idea/ concept for the piece is not theirs. But as the artist, they take the credit.
I think I may just go back to collecting sneakers...

From what I hear, there will be a print release, as well as plenty of canvases.

The Connor Brothers 🇬🇧 Mike Snelle & James Golding, by delano on Oct 11, 2014 16:31:37 GMT 1, I also bought one of these, & like Gard, this article does not change the way I feel about the work. It looks good & is perhaps now a more interesting piece in my collection than it was yesterday.
I liked it & bought on the strength of the image & not the backstory of the artists.
However, what I don't like is the way these guys seem smug & happy with what they have done. They set out to deliberately con people, & have raked in thousands along the way.
But in the long run, the consequences of what they have done will effect them & their lifestyle more than it ever will me & mine...

Popped in to see the show last week & most of the pieces were very strong in the flesh. The sketches also worked really well.

Dale Marshall 🇬🇧 Vermin • New Paintings • Exhibition News, by delano on Aug 29, 2014 21:43:38 GMT 1, What was the pricing like on the canvas pieces? Despite several emails, the gallery never got back to me. I am not going to chase them up, especially with Dal, Conor & Ludo shows over the next month. Shame as I wanted to add to the pieces I bought from Walls With Wounds.

Having said that, I think the image is ok.
