It's the little things...., by simona on Mar 10, 2017 21:06:44 GMT 1, That's excellent!
I got this little thing from RAE after there was a delay in posting out one of his prints. To be fair, I'd missed on getting a print when they were first released, so I emailed him to see if any payments had been declined. He then emailed me back offering me an A/P. Then a few days later he sent an apology in getting it posted on time and said he'd make it up to me. I certainly wasn't expecting it, and was really blown away by it all. Top guy!

Graffiti exhibition at Snape Maltings, Suffolk, by simona on Mar 5, 2017 14:16:48 GMT 1, Compared with other places, not much happens in the world of street art or graffiti in Suffolk, but I'm looking forward to seeing this...
snapemaltings.co.uk/whats-on/masters-of-invention/
It's at the Snape Maltings, which is a odd place to hold an event like this, (being in the middle of the countryside and is a venue more known for classical music and arts) but I'm all for it!

Guard with Balloon Dog [Toronto, Canada], by simona on Feb 20, 2017 21:57:21 GMT 1, If Banksy could cover the rainforests with stencil art, all the trees would be saved. Or chopped down even quicker than they are now.
I really like that this Banksy is on public display.

Forum member trying to scam me through paypal, by simona on Feb 17, 2017 20:23:14 GMT 1, PayPal does sometime rule in favour of the seller. They ruled in my favour when I sold a pair of sunglasses, that the buyer claimed had been damaged before I sent them (not damaged in the post).
It isn't clear if the buyer sent you the money as payment for goods, or if it was a transfer between friends or family. If it was for goods, then you might be lucky if you can prove that you packaged it correctly and the damage wasn't there before you sent it. If the payment was sent as a transfer between friends and family, then I don't think you'll have a case.
In this case, it looks as though the buyer is only trying the Paypal refund route as there is no shipping insurance. Make that clear to Paypal.
As the shipping has been done through a 3rd party, I don't think Paypal can use that against you. All they can do is look at the facts of the transaction, and they may rule in your favour.
Make sure you reply promptly, clearly and politely to all correspondence with the buyer and Paypal. Also try and negotiate some more and send Paypal all evidence.
Good luck.

Stik book poster, by simona on Feb 17, 2017 19:01:48 GMT 1, They look good. I don't see much a of problem in recreating art, so long as you don't sell or pass them off as the real thing. Lots of people have recreated Invaders on this forum.
Obviously the West Country Prince sells copies of Banksy prints...

Dismaland Gift Print, by simona on Feb 5, 2017 21:08:53 GMT 1, Either way, 25k is silly money for a non-authenticated poster dedicated to someone else. I still think the 6/7k these were selling for straight after was a lot. 25k is silly money, but the buyer could change their name to suit the dedication.

Cleon Peterson - Victory at Agnes B. du Jour , by simona on Jan 30, 2017 23:13:27 GMT 1, Cleon is certainly on a massive upward trajectory right now, and this show looks amazing. Thanks for posting the pictures. It'll be interesting to see where Cleon is in a few years time. His work is instantly recognisable, is challenging to understand but like all good art it incites an opinion.
His popularity is on the rise. I can't think of many other artists recently who has released as many prints as he has over the last 12 months, and all instantly sell out. I just wonder is his recent Trump 2017 print, his Shepard Fairey's Obama Hope moment?
I have a big Cleon print from Laz, and whilst its not an easy picture, it is bold, brave and so very stylish.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by simona on Jan 29, 2017 19:42:45 GMT 1, He has a unique style and has worked hard for many years to become established. So many artists on here have come and gone over the years but he has gone on to be one of the most popular and collected. I actually think his prints are undervalued at the moment and his prices will head towards ยฃ3-5k this year. I do think Banksy will become the most remembered but Invader will be in there somewhere. When the Invader original sold for $273k in October that was a significant moment. If I had to choose between artists like Pejac, Borondo or Invader I know where I would put my money. In my opinion of course. And if you do get tired of his work, then it can be put to good use in the bathroom!

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by simona on Jan 29, 2017 19:41:42 GMT 1, I really like Invader, and particularly his street work. But, will he be relevant or remembered in 40/50 years time? I'd say he won't be and at best he'll be a footnote on the paragraph about Banksy. Which will probably be pretty much the only artist from this genre still remembered. I'd say he will certainly be in the same paragraph. The guy is in the premier league of urban art. Banksy will only be remembered because he has gained an audience through the knocked off calendars and mugs his work is currently gracing. Invader will be remembered because of his prolific street output; thousands of mosaics in hundreds of locations across the globe.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by simona on Jan 29, 2017 19:25:11 GMT 1, Hey Urban Art folks of the world. I'm a keen buyer / collector / lover of urban art and have a very varied collection of pieces to date. I buy my art because I love the pieces and not because of investment potential. However in these days of every penny being a prisoner I need to be sure that what I buy isn't going to lose money. So my question to you al is this. Invader : buy Yes or No. I love his work and know that it appears to be hard to find. Do you reckon that he is an artist that will hold his value? Look forward to your views, and thanks in advance..... If you love his work, then easy, you've answered your own question.
Invader over the last few years, has been a very interesting artist. He is putting on big shows, selling works for big money, but is still staying true to his name by continuing to invade spaces by putting up illegal street pieces. His work, like all great artists, is instantly recognisable. For me, the whole concept of his work, puts it beyond being just a bunch of tiles.
The guy has been doing this for 20 years, so he is not a flash in the pan/here today gone tomorrow artist. Will his works retain their value...? Who knows, I would say so and its a very legitimate question if you are planning on spending thousands on his work. I'll say they will do, so long as he continues to invade and his work remains on the street. If he starts to disappear completely from our streets, and retires then that could be bad. I don't think his studio work works that well if the street pieces stop.

Invader Miami Map, by simona on Jan 27, 2017 18:42:43 GMT 1, Hi, I was in Miami in November and there are a fair few left to see (although some prove very difficult to Flash!)
This map is the most up-to-date map I could find and a few have gone since. www.wynwoodmap.com/artists/map.php?id=12 www.wynwoodmap.com/artists/single.php?id=12
This whole website is great. It is a little out of date, but I imagine walls change so quick, it is difficult to keep up to date.
The whole Wynwood district is great. Check out All Day or Panther for Coffee.
Have a great time!

Invaderoma book and Catalogues, by simona on Jan 9, 2017 21:18:02 GMT 1, Ha, you tease! I'd be happy without the stickers.
I'm sure I'll find them, its a matter of patience! I got a copy of Invaderoma last year, and I'm just missing out on the three catalogues.

Space invader chat - PHOTOS AND VIDEOS WELCOME, by simona on Oct 25, 2016 20:46:02 GMT 1, I was thinking the same. It sure would be a lot of work for someone to make 500 or so rubik invaders. I'd happily help though if needed!

Art tourism advice. Budapest, Vienna, Prague , by simona on Jul 3, 2016 17:59:12 GMT 1, Hi, I've been to Vienna and Prague, but not Budapest yet.
For Vienna, there are some Invaders dotted around the city and there is a commissioned Invader bridge in the Street Art Passage at the back of the Mumok Gallery. There are also some decent murals down by the river, and also a ROA near to the market place. There is a 'urban guide map' here, it is a few years old , but maybe worth printing. 0717.at/2011/06/inoperable-urban-guide-vienna-2011/
Prague, is very different, there isn't much street art, although it does have some cool districts and galleries, like the Meet Factory, and some sculptures by David Cerny dotted around the place. If you are on a tight schedule then this tour takes you to some interesting spots alternative-prague.com.
These maps are very handy www.use-it.travel/cities
Enjoy your trip!

Invader Artwork, VALUATION, by simona on Jun 15, 2016 20:07:59 GMT 1, Thanks for that. I've managed to pick up a new unread copy (it was still in its shrink wrap) of Invaderoma, from the Amazon.fr marketplace for ยฃ150.
If anyone is on the look out for one, Amazon.fr seems the place to check regularly. Since December I've seen one other Invaderoma on Amazon.fr for the same price. However, that didn't hang around for long.
Delivery was a bit of a hassle, as the seller wouldn't ship to the UK, so I used a parcel forwarding company that subsequently had to close for a week, because of flooding. Needless to say I was a bit worried that it may have been swept away!

Space Invader STREET ART, by simona on Jun 15, 2016 19:31:30 GMT 1, I was in London today, so took the opportunity to search out the LDN_99 reactivation. It's very good and looks very authentic - well done!
Also I was able to flash LDN_98. I had previously looked for it but as it is up quite high, and behind some building work hoardings I couldn't see it and assumed it had been lost. But today the sun was shining right and I could just about make it out. Its a tough one to flash, but it is possible! It has been tucked behind the hoardings for a few years now, and hopefully it will remain once the hoardings come down, in another year or more (although in the slick, sparkling city, I sadly don't fancy its chances)
