2nd Cans Festival โข 2008, by stillborncrisps on Aug 21, 2008 0:26:08 GMT 1, Hey Carlo, you said what I was thinking.....but was too afraid to say..!
As much as I want to believe it, I don't think it is. In all the pieces I've just nosed through with sprayed freehand writing, a few of the letters look too different - the Y especially.
eg...
but who knows...... ;D

WANTED: Linksys Wireless Broadband Router, by stillborncrisps on Aug 18, 2008 23:46:37 GMT 1, dogant.
Only bcuz Jboy it's the model I've got, so I know how to set it up and can test the shit old PC laptop I should hopefully be getting against my model (which I know is configured ok) if there's problems. I hate Windowz soooo much, and this emergency setup is gonna really test my patience!
Hopefully should be worth it though.
On a side note - my mate wants me to stencil/spray something on her leg cast, but I can't think of anything cool - so if anyone has any ideas, throw them in. I've been restricted to the back of the leg (people have signed the front) and the cast goes from her toes right up to her hoo-hoo.

Dreweatts Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by stillborncrisps on Aug 16, 2008 1:25:05 GMT 1, Dont really understand this, as the auctioneer at the beginning did state that if he missed any bidders he would continue the sale...
Is that a usual thing to do at a professional auction house though? Continue bids after the hammer has fallen?
I've not heard of it before, but then I've only been to a handful of auctions.

Dreweatts Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by stillborncrisps on Aug 14, 2008 22:44:42 GMT 1, There was a guy on here who was selling a DFace in the last auction, and felt he got shafted by Dreweatts who accepted a bid /after/ the hammer had gone down coz the auctioneer 'hadn't seen the bidder'.
Will have a rootle round for the thread.

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by stillborncrisps on Aug 14, 2008 22:37:35 GMT 1, I see - I didn't realise it worked like that.
I thought if BRP did the print run then they'd all go out with BRP stamps and prov, as the other galleries were in effect 'resellers'.
Live and learn......

Original Barcode Painting Anyone?, by stillborncrisps on Aug 7, 2008 23:20:44 GMT 1, Replace the 3 with a zero and you have the STD code for Chipping Sodbury (just outside Bristol).
Yeah, but that doesn't leave enough digits to make a real number....
I really like the idea of the 'breaking free from a relationship' theory... maybe the set of 5 digits on the right, beneath the bent bars, represents Banksy in some way - and the set on the left represent the ex-girlfriend?
I'm starting to feel like a conspiracy theorist.

Original Barcode Painting Anyone?, by stillborncrisps on Aug 7, 2008 19:36:31 GMT 1, i heard the print was after a relationship had split up and on the barcode is her phone number with the Leopard happy to have broken free!!
Hmmm... curious.
The numbers in the Leopard Barcode [31454 31762] don't appear to be any sort of UK or mobile number.
You'd need to put an 01 or an 07 in front to make it a real number, and then there would be too many digits in the number.
I thought perhaps they could be two dates/date of births, but of course there is no 31st April 1954.
However, the Shark Barcode [0 95417 04-0-7] would work as a phone number if you put a 1 or 7 where the barcode lines intrude into the number sequence (after the first 0): 07954 170407 or 01954 170407 (Cambridge number)
Who's gonna try them out?? ;-)
Also, just found this Banksy record sleeve of a Sinking Tank, which contains another barcode:
The number is 5 016557 971668 - again, too many digits to be a phone number.
What does it all mean???!

SNAKES HAS EGGS !!!!! EGG WATCH !!!, by stillborncrisps on Aug 6, 2008 22:52:19 GMT 1, Ah... my mistake - in my ignorance, when I said the mum was 'normal', I just meant 'not albino'.
The dad is white (snow), but the mum is actually the same colour as the dark babies in the photo. Didn't realise that the darker colour was a variety of albino too.

SNAKES HAS EGGS !!!!! EGG WATCH !!!, by stillborncrisps on Aug 6, 2008 20:25:34 GMT 1, The father is visually albino, the mother is normal but I guess she must be het for albino seeing as there are visual albinos in their offspring. Have I got that right?
There's 9 babies now, not sure what colour the extra one is.
Will all the normal coloured babies be carrying the albino gene?

SNAKES HAS EGGS !!!!! EGG WATCH !!!, by stillborncrisps on Aug 6, 2008 17:44:12 GMT 1,
Well here's a few pics of the corn snake babies from the weekend.
Flip knows how he's gonna get rid of them. The local pet shop said they might have a few, and I think he wants to keep an albino.
Are they worth much, or do people tend to give them away, like cats and dogs?

SNAKES HAS EGGS !!!!! EGG WATCH !!!, by stillborncrisps on Aug 4, 2008 20:14:08 GMT 1, Hey Snakes!!
Went round my mates at the weekend and for the first time in all his years of having them, one of his cornsnakes eggs had hatched - with a little albino popping out. Few hours later a regular coloured one was breaking out. (The dad was albino)
By the end of the weekend he'd got 4 albino and 4 regular coloured snakes - with 3 more eggs unhatched! that was from 2 initial lays totalling 32 eggs.
Very exciting - will try and post a pic later.

Hirst at Sotheby's (Sotheby's Private View), by stillborncrisps on Aug 4, 2008 10:07:09 GMT 1, he stole quite a bit hadn't he? pierced heart with wings (isn't that a cliche tattoo?)
I think that's the point with that piece - a real life representation of a well known/clichรฉd image.
It was on display at the White Cube for his show last year. I really, really like it - though not enough to have in my lounge. ;-)

wanted original Banksy street pieces, by stillborncrisps on Jul 28, 2008 0:15:00 GMT 1, .....If its recovered when the property is demolished its not stolen.
Technically this would be theft, as it still belongs to the land owner, whether he's about to put a wrecking ball through it or not.

Jubooboo - can you get John to post his pics from that preview night in London? Maybe stick them up on his blog?
Inkie, TLP, Blek and Sickboy did a mural, but it was gone the next day when I went to take pics.
