DOLK 'VANDAL' AND 'IDEA PAINTER' NEXT WEEK!, by tommyb on Apr 30, 2014 13:12:34 GMT 1, I think Vandal is abit too Norway for me, wouldn't mind either on my wall though but prefer Idea Painter. I sadly think a fair few of the Vandal prints will end up being sold resold to the Norwegian fans and a much higher price

Advice on an artist missing deadline on a commission, by tommyb on Apr 28, 2014 14:11:34 GMT 1, I recieved an email from them so one assumes they must have been looking at this forum, turns out they had a very notable reason for the delay so now I feel like abit of a dick. On the plus side the post man brought me a nice tube so I am heading out to the framers. Thanks for the advice folks and I hope you all have a pleasant day.

Advice on an artist missing deadline on a commission, by tommyb on Apr 28, 2014 12:06:32 GMT 1, Yeah, I'm in no rush to get it and it's an artist I really like so it seems like it will be worth the wait, also I have a rather large purchase arriving next week so a delay might work in my favour, the art police will be angry enough about one turning up never mind two. Also 3 years! This sounds like a pretty impressive piece, must be rather special. Gongrats on getting that one sorted whoever it is, I don't really want to know, will probably have too much art envy.

Advice on an artist missing deadline on a commission, by tommyb on Apr 28, 2014 11:14:09 GMT 1, I'd stop messaging and pick up the phone. But "just to check in." I think part of being an artist is missing deadlines, poor scheduling, last minute overnighters and such. Yeah good call, they did say they were squeezing to a packed schedule so I am quite sympathetic towards the delay. I am in their area over the weekend anyway so suppose I'll just pop in to their studio and ask then. Cheers for the adivce, seems the best way to go about things.
I am pretty envious of anyone with a job where it is okay to be 7 weeks over schedule

Advice on an artist missing deadline on a commission, by tommyb on Apr 28, 2014 10:56:32 GMT 1, So I had arranged for a commission from an artist (don't want to name and shame) and it was agreed they would start the piece in early march, they messaged to say they had alot on and it would be delayed once the date came, they still have not made a start as far as I'm aware. They messaged at the start of April to say they would be in touch soon about the piece but have heard nothing since, I have already paid in full so was wondering how would go about this situation, would you just wait it out as they you know they are a busy artist so kind of expected it to take awhile or would you reguard this as taking the piss and ask to be refunded?

New Hush Original and Print Release, by tommyb on Apr 27, 2014 7:15:54 GMT 1, I find all recent Hush releases have sold well, his prices have steadily grown as he has grown as an artist, think this will remain the same, will be affordable but not cheap, his stuff is always very high quality and that is reflected in the price. The whole making the price up as they go along thing is surely rubbish. I don't think either party would agree to working with each other without talking about prices and percentages.

New pobel soon ?, by tommyb on Apr 27, 2014 7:02:18 GMT 1, I really like it, I think it would be good with or without the text. Not sure I have a place for it though, suppose I could hang it above my fridge if it isn't too expensive.

Nick Walker TMA Bristol, by tommyb on Apr 23, 2014 23:36:20 GMT 1, Have wanted one of these for awhile, don't have the cash to back up the interest at the moment though, have already spent more then I wanted to on art this year. Seems a realistic price though, sure it will find a new home.

New Hush Original and Print Release, by tommyb on Apr 23, 2014 23:31:12 GMT 1, Quite annoying how it is released in 17 hours and still they have not shown the final image, the price or the edition size, this would be an insane way to go about selling anything else, sort of like buying a house without knowing the number of bedrooms, the location or what it looks like. Given how much people spend on art it seems alittle disrespectful to the buyer that they are not given the chance to think over making a purchase. I don't know about everyone else but I am getting abit fed up of these types of releases.

Banksy - Untitled (F*ck The Police) - Christies NYC 14th May, by tommyb on Apr 23, 2014 11:48:07 GMT 1, Fantastic piece, shame I'd have to sell my house to buy it, atleast it would put another banksy on the streets if that did happen though...

New Hush Original and Print Release, by tommyb on Apr 18, 2014 5:24:41 GMT 1, If you have to ask you can't afford it. I really don't think that saying applies to urban art, or art as a whole. I think most people on this board could afford most releases if they really wanted too, it's more about prioritising which releases are going to compliment your collection or make it on to the wall, I really like this print but I'm not really willing to pay a huge price for it as I already have two 100 x 70 pieces by Hush on display and another will be over doing it but then again if it was a good price I am sure I could make room for it. I picked up the rouge 1 print but let it go for cost, not because I needed the money, after seeing it in person I didn't think it was going to find a place in my collection.

Eelus after the rain printers proof, by tommyb on Apr 8, 2014 18:22:10 GMT 1, He was saying he gets hundreds of emails asking for this print, can't blame him for trying to please a few of these people. PP's are meant to have been made prior to the AP's and main edition. What are the chances these were printed afterwards? Just don't like it when they use the name "PP" when it's not a "PP" .... would have been better off making an unsigned open edition then. I hope I am proven wrong. Either way, nice image, and good on those who picked one up .... until the next PP's are made available ... I suppose your are right, it does sort of take the piss when you think you are buying an edition of so much and it turns out to be far greater. I think he totally misjudged the demand for this print, was flipped all over the place, seems like he tried to sort the situation out and seems to have made abit of a joke of the run

1 RUN, by tommyb on Apr 3, 2014 8:11:40 GMT 1, I have bought a few bits from them, I have never had an issue with them at all. Some of the releases do take months to arrive though, this can be rather irksome but always seems good value for what you paid once it arrives. I have just bought one of those Derek Hess small originals, will let you know how the handle sending a framed piece to the UK.

F*ck you, f*ck this forum and the clique that resides in it... Grow up

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by tommyb on Mar 15, 2014 11:45:22 GMT 1, Is anyone else collecting these soup tins that are out again. I notices them a while ago but managed to pick a couple up this week. I don't know what to do with them looking for ideas really and before you say it I don't eat soup. I had mine cast in clear resin to use as bookends, they look pretty cool, I'll try and get a picture up in the near future.

Ben Frost 🇭🇲 Print Release • Australia • Pop Art, by tommyb on Mar 7, 2014 18:43:21 GMT 1, Not really a fan of this print, would prefer a classic fries package any day. Yeah, I only noticed those on 1xRun after they'd sold out! Ah, yeah those ones did sell out pretty quickly, he does release new ones quite frequently though, sure you can get your hands on one if you keep an eye out.
