TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Oct 15, 2020 22:49:21 GMT 1, I’d like to thank everyone who’s commented on this thread good bad or indifferent. We are committed to growing and improving at every opportunity and any criticism is an opportunity for myself and the team to improve the service we offer buyers and sellers.
A few facts that hopefully shed some light on the actual realities of this sale:
Total Hammer £1.2m (A record for us and brings the Q3 total to over £2m) Sell through rate 83% highest figure for any of our sales Our first sale Apr19 had 521 lots and hammered 750k This one had 223 and hammered £1.2m so a significant improvement in the average lot value.
I’d welcome any mails wanting to discuss refinements to the service and thoughts for the future Danny@tateward.com
A note on our auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, he consults to all the major houses and trains most of their auctioneers. He also trained Oliver Barker at Sotheby’s and Jussi Pylkkänen at Christie’s. We’re hugely proud to have him as part of our team and I can speak personally to his professionalism and ability to get the best prices for works he’s tasked with selling. In a 35-year career as a Christie’s auctioneer, he conducted more than 2,500 auctions, selling over 310,000 lots for a sum in excess of £2.7 billion.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Sept 29, 2020 14:23:06 GMT 1, I cannot believe there’s a thrower in there! What a fantastic opportunity for someone with deep pockets to get one. The edition size is big though so wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more next year. Looking forward to seeing how the turf war tee does, first outing for this one I think?
We are delighted to be bringing another first to the market. This is a lottery winner for whom the money will be life changing.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Sept 29, 2020 14:20:28 GMT 1, The Harland miller who cares wins in tate ward Just read the notes and the money raised is going back to NHS That’s a very nice thing to do as most that own them probably want 3 or 4 times what they paid straight in there sky rocket 🚀 Would be interesting to know if TW handle the donation or if it's just the buyers word.
We will be donating 100% of our BP (After any platform charges) from this sale it will go directly from us to the same charities the print benefited.
To maximise the amount donated please bid directly with us not via any bidding platform. I’ll happily post proof of the donation once it’s been made.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Sept 15, 2020 11:09:36 GMT 1, The original thread seems to have disappeared (not at my request), I wanted to update members here on the outcome of the situation.
Following discussions with our legal team and consigner the following offer was made to the winning bidder yesterday.
“We will complete the sale if we receive cleared funds by 5pm on Wednesday”
The buyer has decided not to proceed. This closes the matter from our side if there are any further questions I’ll be happy to answer them here or via mail Danny@tateward.com.
We have thousands of satisfied customers, inevitably there will be the a small number of times when issues occur. We will always work to resolve these amicably and to the satisfaction of both sides and if that requires us to make a profit over reputation choice we’ll choose reputation every time.
Consignments for our next sale (Oct 14th) close 23rd September so please send any works you’d like to consign to Harry@tateward.com

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Aug 27, 2020 1:38:44 GMT 1, Handles are not hand finished. I enquired with PC last time and was informed as such.
The sale was extended 2 days due to a number of buyers struggling with the new Identity checks Artsy have put in place. If you’re trying to register and cannot please contact us and we’ll help you through the process.
A note on the Banksquist, as with all Coa pending works we fully assume the risk on behalf of the buyer. In the very unlikely event of a issue the buyer will receive a full refund. Hopefully that puts any potential bidders mind at rest. If anyone has any further questions on this or any lot please contact me and I’ll help you personally.
The sale finishes tomorrow at 4pm BST. It isn’t a staggered finish and there are no extensions to bidding so get your bids in early and only what is needed to win will be used on any bid you leave.

Banksy Print, Canvas, WANTED, by daniel3886 on Aug 21, 2020 21:34:04 GMT 1, We do not publish edition numbers on some works when requested by consigners. They were however viewable during our live viewings when they were possible.
The ability to discreetly sell work is often of importance to our consigners who wish to protect their primary relationships.
We owe it to our consigners to facilitate as many condition report requests as we can. But priority has to be given to those buyers who who show their intent to buy over others who refuse to make a commitment.
Would you like to see a specific print? We have de framed a number of items so may be able to assist you if you’re thinking of buying something.

Banksy Print, Canvas, WANTED, by daniel3886 on Aug 21, 2020 8:46:23 GMT 1, Just thought I’d let all perspective buyers know works can be viewed in person by appointment Pre sale. We are also happy to examine works out of the frame for serious buyers. You will he asked to place a bid before the works are examined and if there are no new issues after examination you will be expected to honour and complete the purchase. Hope that helps put peoples minds at rest with regard to condition issues on framed works. So you will only give a condition report of a print out of its frame if someone places a bid? That seems to be pretty shady to me or I have I got this totally wrong?! Hi welcome to the forum,
report’s are available for all works weather framed or unframed. As Kernow mentioned it isn’t feasible to de-frame every piece in the auction so we have to deal with each request as it arrives and if time allows. Asking a client to commit to a piece on that basis show’s us they are a serious and committed buyer. Giving them the right to cancel the bid in case of unforeseen condition issues allows them to bid with confidence. As with any work at auction the buyer must satisfy themselves on condition and provenance. We will send additional images and video as requested on any lot.
Is there a work you’re interested in? I’d be happy to help you personally just drop me a mail danny@tateward.com

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Aug 21, 2020 8:14:32 GMT 1, Total added fees to a uk buyer on a lot where ARR applies (European artist selling above 1000 euros) 34%
25% BP 5% VAT (charged on the premium only) 4% ARR
UK registered companies can reclaim the VAT element Buyers outside the EU can request the VAT is removed from their invoice.
Hope that clarifies. Results are recorded at most auction houses as Hammer + BP = Realised Price Local taxes and ARR vary from location to location so recording in the manor above creates a level playing field for comparison.
Artsy have implemented some more rigorous identity checks to comply with AML legislation which is meaning registrations can take slightly longer. If you intend to bid please register early to allow for this, also if you have having trouble with the process please contact specialist@artsymail.com for assistance. I’m told it works much better from a phone as opposed to the desktop site.

Banksy Print, Canvas, WANTED, by daniel3886 on Aug 20, 2020 11:20:40 GMT 1, Thanks, yes I saw that one and requested a condition report. I was a bit put off with: "Not examined out of the frame or under the mount". Is the price range still around £60-65k for these? I've no idea what the price range for these is as one hasn't come up for auction/sale for a long time. It seems to be one of the few prints which has either been sucked up into private collections or have disappeared in the 17 years since release and as such is rarely seen. Good luck with your hunt. Ah ok, that's for the information!

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Jun 25, 2020 19:43:48 GMT 1, Sorry, maybe the wrong forum to ask - but what are shipping companies you are usually using to send your art from London's auction houses to US? We normally use Flight Logistics we do have a second option, Evora Logisitcs if you wanted to get 2 quotes and see how the quotes compare.
We are also considering bringing shipping/packing in house to streamline the process and give our clients an end to end service. Watch this space.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Jun 25, 2020 12:12:41 GMT 1, Results are on our website they inc BP but not VAT and ARR (where applicable).
www.tateward.com/auction/search/?au=30&sd=2&pp=96&so=0&pn=1
If there is an unsold lot you’re interested in please contact nick@tateward.com for after sale requests. Equally if you own a work and would like to sell to an underbidder we will do our best to facilitate that.
Great set of results, pleasing to be increasing the average lot value. Sold rate isn’t our most important metric but that’s also higher.
Our next sale is in Aug with ARTSY, these sales have a limited number of lots and are always over subscribed so if you wish to consign please contact Danny@tateward.com cc’ing Harry@tateward.com
Consignment deadline is 1st Aug
Thanks to all our buyers and sellers your continued support is valued and appreciated.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Jun 24, 2020 17:48:03 GMT 1, Live video/audio is available via our website www.tateward.com Bids placed directly with us, commission or live online bidding take priority over any bid placed on a bidding platform. So an added incentive to come direct to us. Some user on here is looking to know what way you charge VAT Also how the shipping works thanks Vat is charged on the Buyers Premium so 5% of hammer (works are sold under the margin scheme) If the buyer is outside the EU we can remove it from the invoice. Shipping can be arranged with the buyers preferred courier or we can recommend a few options.
Live video/audio is available via our website www.tateward.com Bids placed directly with us, commission or live online bidding take priority over any bid placed on a bidding platform. So an added incentive to come direct to us. TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Jun 10, 2020 22:58:20 GMT 1, We are happy to stand by all pieces we list as I said. In 8 sales we’ve not been asked for a single refund but are ready to if the situation presents itself.
Sellers of prints that don’t have coa’s may have proceeds held pending coa approval. I’ve known many of our consigners for years so each individual case is viewed on its merits. If we pay the consigner we are assuming the risk in that situation.
Hope that helps.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Jun 10, 2020 21:22:04 GMT 1, Don't you think Daniel knows this already? What would you like them to be named as? Tat, Souvenirs, keepsakes, I wonder if he gets ARR for them? ARR is applicable on any work attributed to Banksy over 1000 euros. This includes Monkey Parliament posters, Soup Can posters and anything else that breaks that threshold.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Jun 10, 2020 18:09:12 GMT 1, If anyone has any questions regarding provenance or condition please get in touch with Harry@tateward.com We will send additional pictures/video to prospective buyers. On the issue of the correct attribution of Banksy Ephemera this is currently under discussion. Artsy have been contacted via Pest Control in a wider effort to address the large number of fakes that feature on their platform. They have asked that all non COA works are designated “After Banksy”. Pieces such as Boxset’s, Wall Sections which come with receipts which are officially sold by Pest Control/Walled of Hotel are clearly not “After” so how they’re attributed in the long term needs to be decided. In the interim we may change all ephemera to “After Banksy” on Artsy to comply with their request. All of the ephemera is checked and examined by us pre sale. We value our reputation and the trust buyers place in us so if we’ve listed a work we are confident in its authenticity. Further to that if any work is proven to be fake or counterfeit we will issue a full refund. I hope this reassures any buyers to bid with confidence. How can you possibly attribute art pieces from the walled off hotel that are sold for a couple hundreds to be Banksy? Other artists are involved with the hotel and the art sold.
The works are constructed to his design and specification. In the same way most other artists use assistants for large scale production of studio work and other officially sanctioned work.
If you buy a piece of work from a shop that Banksy himself has opened and is selling products should they then be classified as “after banksy”?
What is your view of products from the GDP shop? Some do not come with coa’s and are almost certainly not by Banksy’s hand should they also be classified in the same way as a sticker or poster?
We aim to be as open an transparent as possible with cataloguing of each work. Each buyer must do their own due diligence on any piece they’re considering buying. We are here to help with that process.
