Richie Culver 🇬🇧 Print Release • Show News • Art For Sale, by Nuart Gallery on May 3, 2018 13:17:35 GMT 1,
We are delighted to announce 'I Could Have Gone Pro', a solo show by British artist Richie Culver who will be joining us early May for a very special exhibition and residency.
Born in Withernsea, a town on the outskirts of Hull in Yorkshire, artist Richie Culver moved to London in 2000, when the 17-year-old followed his girlfriend to the city with only £8 in his pocket. Ten years later, Richie set the foundations for his career in art by creating his first artistic work: a magazine cut-out of a Jesse Owens photo with the words ‘Have you ever really loved anyone?’ stuck onto it.
Despite having not had any formal training, his first artwork was immediately featured in a group exhibition at Tate Modern and his demand for new work is growing exponentially together with his list of collectors.
His work is heavily autobiographical and since his first production, Richie has been working with photography, mixed-media installations, paintings, collages and the matching of words with images has become his strength.
"Provocateur, bearded mystic raconteur, tattooed romantic, enigmatic rising contemporary British artist, Culver falls in line with some of the great rebels of creative expression that have made the United Kingdom a landscape of artistic rebellion for the past 40 years in contrast to its powdered wig, high tea, keep calm and carry on reputation. From the social dissatisfaction that gave birth to the punk movement, Vivienne Westwood, to the gothic angst of new wave, to Damien Hirst, to Tracey Emin, Culver is part of a cultural evolution of artists with extremely unique and inspiring ideas." - Autre magazine
We very much look forward to see what he has in store for the show!
STAY TUNED - MORE INFO COMING SHORTLY!

“B-SIDES”, a celebration of the album cover format , by Nuart Gallery on Apr 20, 2018 12:36:25 GMT 1,
We are delighted to announce our upcoming exhibition, "B-SIDES vol. III"! As a part of it, Norwegian band TØFL will be joining us for an acoustic concert in the Gallery.
Big opening & TØFL concert: April the 28th at 13:00 Exhibition dates: 18.04 – 06.05 Nuart Gallery - Salvågergata 10, Stavanger (NO)
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
2018 marks the return of our celebration or, if you like, love affair with the 12” album cover format! After two successful editions of the B-Sides exhibition and the Revolution Per Minute show at the Saatchi Gallery, we are proud to present B-Sides, volume III.
Bringing together regional, national and international leading names in Street Art and Urban Contemporary, B-Sides refers to those hidden gems found on the backside of mainstream “hits” pressed on vinyl.
The exhibition follows the format of the 12” x 12” album cover, a format and genre regarded as an art form in and of itself, though neglected since the onset of digital file sharing and MP3’s and promises to be a show of affordable art where those ‘Hidden Gems’ await discovery.
LINE UP OF ARTISTS:
Aiko (JP), Alice Pasquini (IT), Andreco (IT), Bortusk Leer (UK), Carrie Reichardt (UK), Chris Stain (US), Denial (CA), Dotmasters (UK), Ernest Zacharevic (LT) & Sheena Liam (MY), Eron (IT), Hama Woods (NO), Herakut (DE), ICY&SOT (IR), Jan Olav Forberg (NO), Julien De Casabianca (FR), Kennardphillipps (UK), Know Hope (IL), Leon Reid (US), Maismenos (PT), M-City (PL), Mobstr (UK), Nafir (IR), Nina Ghafari (IR/NO), NIMI (UK/NO), Ricky Lee Gordon (ZA), SKEWILLE (US), Spazuk (CA), Sten&Lex (IT), Tellas (IT), Tilt (FR), Wan Ho (CH/NO), Zeus (UK) & more
Showcasing a selection of originals and prints from our archives and featuring twelve years of 'art in the streets', B-SIDES will be on rotation as people are encouraged to 'buy off the wall'.
Come find that 'hidden gem' which is waiting for you!

About TØFL
We couldn’t select another show for hosting Norwegian band TØFL, who will be joining us on a date of their tour in Norway for an acoustic gig at the Gallery!
TØFL is a young indie pop band who will release their new EP “Eg ska” in April 2018. After opening concerts for Dagny, Sløtface and Silja Sol over the last two years, their first song finally saw the light last year. TØFL´s music received good criticism from Aftenbladet and their song, after being played regularly on several radio bands, held the 1st place on Spotify's "Norway Viral 50" list for days.
Originally from Stavanger, TØFL composed their music while living in a loft in Bergen and are currently based in Trondheim - and of course are stopping by their hometown while on their tour!
We very much look forward to welcome them in the Gallery!
Join TØFL and us on April, the 28th at 13:00!

URBAN ART NORWAY - Group Show at Nuart Gallery , by Nuart Gallery on Mar 6, 2018 16:32:44 GMT 1,
Skurk (NO) paid us a little visit yesterday and dropped a new strong series of works from their ongoing project 'The Observer' to be included in the URBAN ART Norway show. Here is a couple of in progress shots along with a brief description for the project.
"Every single print in The Observer series has been hand pressed from the original woodcut. It’s a highly manual process: chop, plane, sand, burn, ink, press, conceal & sign. No computers involved. These trees have all lived through (observed) a significant event in human history. The prints seek to capture these unique moments in time. A hand written quote has been concealed within each print, at the actual point in time the event took place. Count the rings. It will help you find your place in the larger historical context. Due to the hand-printed nature of each piece, no two are exactly alike"
Come take a closer look next week or mail sales@nuartgallery.no for interest

URBAN ART NORWAY - Group Show at Nuart Gallery , by Nuart Gallery on Feb 22, 2018 17:22:04 GMT 1, We are happy to kick off the 2018 program at the Gallery announcing 'Urban Art Norway', a group show of prints and originals from Norway's leading names in contemporary urban art as well as emerging talents.
URBAN ART NORWAY - Group show
Opening night: 15.03 at 19:00 Exhibition dates: 16.03 - 15.04
[EVENT PAGE](https://www.facebook.com/events/742012762660338/)
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Our newest exhibition, includes a roster of Norwegian artists who have a direct relationship to graffiti, street art and related urban cultures and whose work, with intent or not, challenges the traditional relationship between citizens and the city, art and commerce, insiders and outsiders.
The show seeks in many ways to explore the variety of styles and techniques the work of these artists have to offer, ranging from the stencils of Martin Whatson, AFK, Argus and Hama Woods to Nipper's Mission Directives, DOTDOTDOT's recent detailed works, NIMI and Sinnsykshit's intricate paintings to Skurk's newest project 'The Observer'.
Whether it is a sticker, wheat-paste, tag, piece, mural, stencil or urban intervention, whether it is produced for a festival, sanctioned or unsanctioned, funded or not, it is an act of appropriate citizenship at a time of political, environmental and economic crises. So, yes, Urban Art Norway! Come check it out!
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Featured artists:
AFK (NO), Argus (NO), Atle Østrem (NO), DOTDOTDOT (NO), Fru Bugge (NO), Hama Woods (NO), Jan Olav Forberg (NO), Martin Whatson (NO), NIMI (UK/NO), Nina Ghafari (IR/NO), Nipper (UK/NO), Sinnsykshit (NO), Skurk (NO), Wan Ho (CH/NO) & more

Home - Winter Group show , by Nuart Gallery on Dec 13, 2017 10:13:54 GMT 1,
Showcasing 5 years of Nuart Gallery history, our last show of the year, Home introduces a host of all the names and talents we worked with over these 5 years of Nuart Gallery.
From the internationally acclaimed Sandra Chevrier, to local artists Nina Ghafari, Line Osmundsen, Wan Ho and TREF. We debut some exciting new originals and prints by Add Fuel, Carrie Reichardt, Bortusk Leer, Dotmasters, Hama Woods, Hyuro, M-City, Nafir, Skurk, Sinnsykshit and many more.
As usual, the show fits between the serious and sublime to playful and fun, a sort of bipolar exploration of that thing we call Home.
Thursday’s opening will feature the usual shenanigans with DJ’s, drinks and Nuart Gallery’s 5th anniversary celebrations party, while each Saturday daytime opening will be a more sedate though no less exciting affair of mulled wine and gingerbread. There will be a series of affordable originals and prints as well as special offers on books and works from the backroom.
Please note that as everyone is encouraged to buy from the wall, the show will be constantly rotating. We will regularly change the set up including both new works and works from our backroom.
Home is where the ART is. Be Home at the Nuart Gallery for Xmas :wink:
Exhibition dates: 09.12 - mid January 2017 Opening night & Nuart Gallery 5th anniversary party: 14.12 at 19:00
Please, contact sales@nuartgallery.no for interest!

TRAGIC/MAGIC - Solo show by Wan Ho (CH/NO), by Nuart Gallery on Oct 26, 2017 15:41:24 GMT 1, We are delighted to announce 'TRAGIC/MAGIC', a solo show by one of the Region's most exciting and progressive talents Wan Ho (CH/NO)
Opening night and preview: 09.11 at 19:00 Exhibition dates: 10.11 - 02.12 Nuart Gallery, Salvågergata 10 - Stavanger
Wan is a Chinese born graffiti artist based in Stavanger, Norway. His work consists of intricately detailed pen and ink, acrylic on canvas and his own hand pulled artist produced screen-prints as well as objects and installations.
His work explores a rich tapestry of influences from Manga to Graffiti, fantasy and reality, politics, both personal and social to dreams and reality. Rich in symbolism, Wan Ho’s work focuses on the dichotomy of his own experiences and draws influence from both China’s rich cultural heritage and the West’s constant search for the “new”.
Embracing tagging and graffiti culture at an early age, Wan Ho’s work often contains references to these seemingly polar opposites, the ephemeral (West) and the eternal (East). Clinging to the past whilst attempting to liberate oneself from it creates a constant contradiction that sets up a tension in his work and life that his work explore to the full.
His characters, like the artist himself, escape the clutches of the past and set out on journeys of discovery, both inner and outer.
Wan has been part of NUART FESTIVAL and NMNP PROJECT SPACE for several years and since his debut in 2014 at the Gallery, his work has been featured in several important exhibitions.
We are looking forward to see what he has in store for his 'TRAGIC/MAGIC' show!
Join Wan and us on November the 9th at 19:00 for a night of art, music and fun!
