Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by avec art on Jul 26, 2023 14:18:24 GMT 1, After two years: "I have a buyer for €30k. please buy back for that much " A very curious clause in a contract ... If there are no sales prior to you offering it to Avant Arte, how do you even establish a market value? I imagine it's something along the lines of this. You have a buyer, and tell AA the value of the proposed sale, and they will get back to you with an offer of their own near to the price you're being offered. But this could be open to corruption, as the buyer and/or price could be invented.

Orange Order Rat - Fake or Real Banksy?, by avec art on Jun 28, 2023 14:18:30 GMT 1, The consequence of disingenuous and poorly considered words, are the persons’ (avatar/profile) reputation. Accountability a post writer faces is held in memory, either in the minds of its readers, or digitally. The quote button works well in such matters.
This is contrary to the premise where Met states that there is ‘nothing really at stake’. I think the value of a person’s word, doesn’t need qualifying with a monetary or financial backing. To suggest that, is to trivialise the value of words and/or reputation, and therein I see an inherent contradiction to some aspects of the argument presented by Met.
Whether the ‘bet’ should be satisfied is subjective. Anybody who has observed Mets output would not be in any doubt the casual agreement will be honoured. Ultimately, it is down to the recipients to defuse the bet, but I can’t see that happening now, which is a pity. We all get carried away at times, and I think that’s a good thing. Open expression should be encouraged, and that is roughly where my comment on free speech is coming from.
Well considered thoughts and ideas are pleasure to read, but first impressions (and kneejerk reactions) are also. It’s why staking a position early was taking a risk, the potential adverse consequences were already inherently in place.

Orange Order Rat - Fake or Real Banksy?, by avec art on Jun 26, 2023 22:58:52 GMT 1, It shows courage of conviction to express your thoughts early on. Up until only recently the poll showed that the majority involved (in the poll at least) thought the rat was genuine. Yet only one person was brave enough to stake their position. As an incentive to free speech I believe the bet should be annulled.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by avec art on Jun 24, 2023 10:17:40 GMT 1, Apologies if I've misunderstood your post here and made a false inference.
That's ok no false inference has been made, and your points are valid. I'm aware of misregistration made especially when speed is required. I'm trying to pinpoint why this particular piece didn't initially grab be as being authentic.
The example posted of the mini mouse bow is the sort of similarity I was looking for. The last Banksy piece I saw in person was the Reading Gaol one, of which the execution is extraordinary. However with that I think there was time to create it behind a scaffold, albeit mostly during the night.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by avec art on Jun 23, 2023 22:59:14 GMT 1, The quality of the stencil is high, and use of sponge and colours are all pretty consistent with techniques used in previous Banksy work. But these effects can also be imitated.
The misregistration of the stencils is fairly striking especially around the hat. It would be pretty difficult to avoid that with so much detail. But I'm not sure you see this so much elsewhere in his work.

Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by avec art on Jun 22, 2023 0:09:40 GMT 1, Haha - I had the same thing… but it wasn’t crushed or anything. I’m thinking it wasn’t actually from someone stepping on it, but I dunno. Say what? Footprints like these are from a delivery person standing on the package (a regular Sherlock here). It's testament to the good packaging that there's no damage.

There's a cost of living crisis, but sellers are still expecting to receive last years prices or more. So nothing moves

Banksy Welcome Mat, by avec art on May 25, 2023 0:35:15 GMT 1, nothing to be confused about nex. Atelier piggy backed on your sale thread to try and sell his own welcome mat, which we all know is bad etiquette.
Pistol told him such, and Atelier subsequently (reasonably) deleted his sale post.
Hope this is making more sense now, and that I've not further added to the confusion.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by avec art on May 24, 2023 20:06:09 GMT 1, The heni frames have a window on the back so you can see the title, Hirsts signature, watermarks, stamp, microdot and so on. The ultimate would be to have it framed like this but with a window on the reverse. That's no small feat as the titles and signature are on the edge of the paper.

Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by avec art on May 20, 2023 13:07:19 GMT 1, Is that not like saying you're ok with selling say 'stolen goods' because the thief is going to find a way to sell them anyway, and it's better that they sell them to me because I'm more moral than other sellers of stolen goods.
I appreciate it's a little more nuanced than that, as there is the royalties thing, but it feels as though this is being used to justify more business, and here in a way which undermines AA. Feels very cynical indeed.
