Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by bullysonzx10r on Apr 26, 2014 2:34:45 GMT 1, If it's the version of 85, the last I've seen sold was for $25K (US) from a Gallery. Several are available here in the states for $35K, again, at galleries. There is a private sale through Phillips of this piece on the 28th with an estimate of $25K-$35K.
Do note that if this is the same as what I'm referring to, it was pressed in 2001, and has never been touched by Basquiat, unlike some litho's that have hand finishing.
Regardless, this is an AMAZING piece, on of my favorite pieces ever, and if I had the $25K in hand, I'd be making a serious cash offer.

New Swoon print, by bullysonzx10r on Apr 24, 2014 20:34:59 GMT 1, If anyone is on the fence about the Monica print, I purchased one (The price was right, and I can't afford some of her more expensive pieces) and was pleasantly surprised that it came from Swoon's studio in Brooklyn, was numbered (I was 203 out of 250, so there have to be some more left) had the swoon imprint/ watermark on it, and on the back it had "Swoon" in pencil.
FWIW, I liked the image, and for it to come directly from Swoon's studio, be a limited numbered print, this was an awesome pick up. I'm going to frame it, so if she was the one who signed it, or an assistant just wrote her name, that's not really important to me because I don't plan to flip.
Hope this helps anyone who is possibly on the fence.

Swoon Limited Print up now Nee Nee In Braddock, by bullysonzx10r on Apr 22, 2014 19:53:47 GMT 1, Price looks to be too high for the flippers. Nearly 3 hours in and it's still available. I'm in the market for a swoon, but would rather hold off and spend a little more on a hand finished piece. Might be shooting myself in the foot as I'm sure future releases will be outrageous with her Brooklyn Museum installment.

I've heard people are just putting these artists work on the streets recently.

Banksy+BNE for World Water Day, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 30, 2014 20:19:34 GMT 1, OK, I now have a question for all of you. I always assumed this forum was an authority on all things Banksy. How come none of you contacted Pest Control or Jo Brooks for confirmation? a) It's a t-shirt, who cares b) see a Listen... While I do agree with you to a point... If this was real, and if it was a limited edition COA verified Banksy piece, regardless of the medium, on a Banksy forum, that's pretty damn exciting.
Think about it, if someone gave you a cloth napkin from a restaurant that Banksy had sprayed on, you'd frame it and hang it on the wall.
If Banksy decided from here on out that he was only going to release prints on Wax paper, we'd all figure out the best way to keep wax paper from being damaged for years to come, frame that wax paper, and put it on the wall.
So, sure -- It is just a T-shirt. But -- the hope, however far fetched that hope was, was that it was a limited edition Banksy piece. And, that makes it incredibly important to a forum that has the name "Banksyforum"

Who is the next big thing?, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 29, 2014 4:35:10 GMT 1, I would of said daleast but as he doesnt sell alot of artwork and when some does come available, the galleries sell to their rich important customers(not bitter at all lol) before the shows start. I think he will sadly just fade away. I would love to see roa get more recognition but sorry guys I think it will be dolk if your talking mega bucks.he sells his canvases at a less cost than swoon as well. Long term Dave white will in my opinion be worth more than all of them though. Dal East and Roa are amazing. Would love to see more of their work available to the buying public.

Banksy+BNE for World Water Day, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 23:53:57 GMT 1, If I saw something in the FS section of this site that I knew was fake because I confirmed with the artist, and I waited till there was a purchase to tell everyone that the item was fake... Would you think I did the right thing because I waited till there was a fake item sold before I helped?
Sure, I'm not a horrible person because I did EVENTUALLY help, but I knew that someone was going to get taken by a fake product well before they purchased it, and I chilled out and waited for the "Crime" to take place.
But again, at least something was said, because if Bucky didn't say anything ever, we'd all be expecting our Banksy Tee's and speculating about what the "art" would be.

Banksy+BNE for World Water Day, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 22:16:30 GMT 1, But if you did not now BNE was doing something with Banksy why did you contact PEST asking if Banksy was involved with BNE? Because we didn't believe the flyer that was getting posted everywhere. We assumed that BNE was doing was using the legitimacy of Faile, Invader and Shepard to make it seem like a release with Banksy was possible. But again, we were shocked -- SHOCKED -- that he actually went ahead with his ridiculous scam. We assumed that he would have maybe posted an image of a tee of his BNE sticker over a Banksy image as some sort of unsanctioned collaboration. But again and for the last time, so really try and soak this in: We had no idea what BNE was planning. We had to wait to see because we are not soothsayers. Dude -- You're getting a little worked up over this. I think everyone is just wondering -- Why not stop something from happening and help out, keep the charity from suffering, and keep people from being exposed to a scam, as opposed to waiting for it to happen, and blowing the entire show up after it happens...
Once PC replied to you, you could have easily saved everyone a lot of stress. Artists4water looks like assholes, Charity Water looks like assholes. BNE is an asshole. It just could have been a lot easier.
With that said, it's a free world. Some people want to stop shit from happening, others like to watch the ashes smolder and tell everyone "I knew that shit was going to happen." You're a smoldering ash guy. It doesn't make you wrong, it just is what it is.

Who is the next big thing?, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 20:07:32 GMT 1, I can see your point bullysonzx10r he has a lot of the things you look for in an artists, but I personally think he put a roof on his career when he made his artist name Hanksy. I've seen that he is putting on shows with other artists and to me it looks a bit like he's doing kind of the thing Pure Evil is doing in London. He's getting people together and being a great guy. Can you post some pictures of good Hanksy pieces? I think you're right about putting a roof on his career with naming himself "Hanksy" -- But who knows.
I don't want to slam this thread with a bunch of pics, so here is an Imgur link: imgur.com/a/DeVvz#0
Again, his work isn't for everyone, but some of it makes me chuckle, and some of it is pretty solid. Plus the guy doesn't take himself too seriously, and has been featured in a lot of media, so there is a chance...

Who is the next big thing?, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 19:45:38 GMT 1, Yeah, I know these posts appear like once a month and I can't be bothered to find the old ones. But who do you believe is the new next big thing? And when I say the next big thing I'm talking about who will be in big demand and have his or her prices rise. It may not be the best way of measuring it, but it's something we can actually see. Also lets keep it to the "bigger" artists. Compared to the contemporary art world, most of the artist talked about here are small fish in in the contemporary world I have a few in mind but will start with Swoon. Her big museum quality pieces aren't that expensive today especially for an artist that's going to have a big solo show at the Brooklyn museum. One problem I can see with her is that she doesn't have any gallery representation at the moment, but after the museum show I'm sure she will be picked up by someone she feels can bring her to the next level. One thing I've heard a lot of people say about her is that they are not the biggest fans of her art but they all think they should buy something. I've heard that Moma bought something by her anyone know if Moma used their own money or if it was donated? It makes a huge difference. I already know about Outis and Bambi so please don't mention them here. Tbh, I would say that swoon is already a "big" artist (for want of a better word/phrase). Her originals sell for serious money. I think her prints sell out. Has been on this scene for many years and has lots of respect. THIS/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
I recently inquired about a Swoon Kamayura print, with hand finishes, and it was $8,500. a 30in x 21in piece... That's some serious cash for a screen print with hand finishing.

Who is the next big thing?, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 19:40:24 GMT 1, So I'll get bashed for this, but I have seen some of the behind the scenes plans so I feel like I could be right.
Hanksy
I know, Fuck me and his corny art, right?
Here's the thing, the guy has a good niche, and has a fairly strong following on IG -- 16K-17K depending on when you look. For comparison sake, Swoon is at 22K. Beyond this, he has been working on several projects that could potentially launch him into a larger audience based on his "My art is topical, not serious." mindset. This includes opportunities at Webisodes and even potential TV opportunities. He also has put together a sick show -- Surplus Candy, and is planning to do more of that type of organization in the near future.
Beyond all of that, I bought an original of his back in the summer (42 inch x 32 inch Ferrell Cats) for around $1,700 and just recently when he was being shown at the Katz Deli gallery, he had a smaller less complex piece than that sell for over $5,000... This was before he even had the NYTimes piece about him published.
Again, I see some of his stuff and giggle, I see some of it and like it, and I see some of it and think... Ehhh not for me. But I have a feeling that he has the chance to blow up, and with the art scene in NYC, and especially the way he's been trying to connect a lot of artists and get them publicity, I see people really liking what he does.
Who knows, but I'd keep an eye on him.
Flame away if you wish!

Banksy+BNE for World Water Day, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 16:53:22 GMT 1, Banksys just got to hand spray each one then he's personally delivering them to anyone who didnt cancel their original order apparently, and he's said he'll probs have a can and a stencil or two with him if anyone wants a quick canvas done, so cash in time. Seems generous.

Banksy+BNE for World Water Day, by bullysonzx10r on Mar 28, 2014 16:13:10 GMT 1, I want to know if the IG and FB winners will get the T3 shirt. That would be super awesome. theres no difference in the shirts. It's just based on what you would like to donate. Like if you want to donate but don't have much $ you go for t1. If your feeling genius then t2 etc as he said. The image on all versions is the same Well, it looks like there will be unique holograms...? I'm guessing this is almost as is an artist was dropping 3 different colored prints. One an edition of 100, one an edition of 50, one and edition of 10 (Even though it's open edition, I'm just using comparison to make a point.)
Basically the edition of 10 will always carry a larger value because less are available to the public.
