Large Blek Le Rat Christ Canvas For Sale, by Peter Bengtsen on Apr 23, 2024 11:15:53 GMT 1, It's an interesting time for Blek, prices for originals have steadily grown since signing on with Woodbury House and their Mayfair client base. I imagine he'll follow Hambleton & Invader with prices that are commensurate with his place in the culture and legacy. There's obviously the danger the recent Phillips result is a "pump and dump" but I doubt someone of Blek's standing could really be "dumped" as such. I doubt the secondary print market will change, there's so much out there, but the amount of originals are quite limited and quality works scarce.
Ain't that the truth.

Michael Jordan, Banksy and How a Collectibles Watchdog Turne, by Peter Bengtsen on Sept 7, 2023 9:59:25 GMT 1, Somewhat tangentially Banksy related. For starters, when I saw a sports card auction house auctioning two works with very questionable provenance it gave me pause. Now it seems rightfully so, Heritage Auctions might have some explaining to do.... Michael Jordan, Banksy and How a Collectibles Watchdog Turned Into a Fraud www.actionnetwork.com/nba/how-a-scammer-who-sold-fake-michael-jordan-collectibles-banksy-artwork-was-caughtSnippet from article related to Banksy: As part of his consignment to Goldin, Garcia gave him two pieces of Banksy art. One was called โWarning Sign,โ which featured a plane about to hit the Twin Towers. When Goldin saw it, he told Garcia he couldnโt sell it. A second Banksy was also pulled. Sources said Garcia first tried to sell the Banksys privately for $1.25 million each. When he couldnโt, he went to Goldin with reserves of past $800,000. When Goldin passed, Garcia took them to Heritage Auctions in Dallas, where he took a further haircut. They sold for just $362,500 each. Pest Control, Banksyโs official authentication group, was reviewing the pieces and certs sold in Heritage, which was doing its own work. "In light of your initial inquiry, our Urban Art experts and leadership team have been working diligently to access and reevaluate our cataloging and attributions of these pieces," said Heritage's Chris Ivy. But this is more cause for concern. Garcia owns a company called artFido, which at one point purported to be the go-to auction site for independent artists. The company claims that "when Banksy wanted to break his infamous shredded painting footage, he went to artFido. True story, trust us. (The real Banksy.)โ When asked about the story, a member of the Pest Control team replied, "not true."
Are the B anksy works the same ones discussed here?

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Apr 26, 2023 18:35:30 GMT 1, Thank you for your input, Jboy. All things considered, I do understand if transparency is not really your thing.
Thank you for bringing the ongoing war in Ukraine to my attention.
This was a timely reminder, as I had completely forgotten how russia's invasion in 2014 caused my family in Ukraine to become internally displaced. I had also forgotten how they had to flee again, this time from their temporary home, when russia's attempted full-scale invasion began last year. Further, it had escaped me that they are now living outside of Ukraine not because they want to but because they are refugees who have had to leave everything behind - twice. Thanks to you, Jboy, I see now how truly shameful it is that I have spent a small amount of time looking into and discussing the release of these stamps, rather than spending virtually every waking moment since 24 February 2022 worrying about the impact of the war on my family and friends, including those who remain in Ukraine. How dare I engage in such frivolous diversion!
Fyi half my family is Ukrainian. i homed 11 of them in the UK in the last year. I even moved out my flat to let some have it for this year. i dont need you telling me anything. just stop being a moany monty Why dont you go check the threads on here about the russian warship go fuck yourself stamps or the paul insect ukraine release. Enough. You forgot to say that you're not Jboy.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Apr 26, 2023 17:58:58 GMT 1, No, to be clear, I am not sure if the frames offered for sale directly by the framer are part of the run of 1000.
If they are, I find it odd that the framer would not clearly state that only 1000 were made. Although when I asked about the number of frames made, the information about the edition of 1000 had not yet been made public on the Ukrposhta website. This could be why the framer would not divulge the total number at the time. Perhaps their answer would be different if someone enquired today.
EDIT: I have just written to the framer again. Will post here if I get any additional information.
Christ. this was sold as a charity fund raiser. give it a rest. Ikea do these frames.
Thank you for your input, Jboy. All things considered, I do understand if transparency is not really your thing.
No-one is allowed to like or care about anything now unless it is pre-approved by the UAA guardians. New rules, sorry. The Ukraine and people there have more to worry about than mr miggins researching into quantities of frames produced. It says there was 1000. what is not clear? Thank you for bringing the ongoing war in Ukraine to my attention.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Apr 25, 2023 8:25:58 GMT 1, Has anyone who purchased one of these framed stamps from "Moskoua" asked them how they had access to hundreds of them? And if so, could you please share the response? I'm sure there is a story there. Hopefully not one that involves fraud.
This makes sense.
When I first asked the framer about the number of frames made, they would not give a specific number. They then proceeded to offer to sell frames directly to me. I suspect they created the 1000 frames for Ukrposhta and then continued to make more for direct sale.
To my mind, while probably exactly the same as the frames sold by Ukrposhta, the frames sold directly by the framer would then be akin to backdoor prints.
Since the frames are not signed or numbered, there is no real way to verify if a frame came from Ukrposhta or from the framer directly. Even if a seller has a receipt from Ukrposhta, there is no guarantee the receipt relates to the frame being sold.

For Sale: Original FAILE, by Peter Bengtsen on Apr 10, 2023 10:21:05 GMT 1, My 5p Peter Bengtsen It is obvious it is on the paper. morleys You should probably get a more sound provenance than you have stated. I don't doubt the authenticity of the work. Stating that you might find that most buyers prefer to have some kind of physical confirmation from the gallery or the artist which in this case should not be a problem as Faile guys are known for validating these kind of works and also issuing COAs. Peter Bengtsen There were 9 similar pieces like this (with the silver spray paint backgrounds and pink and black silkscreens) made for the Fifty 24 PDX Portland show. I pretty sure there were all 9 shown just a bit unfortunate for the seller that it is not shown in that clip here is link to the piece on web archive page web.archive.org/web/20071213160347/http://www.faile.net/store/soldout.php?page=6Also you can find the piece in the book Faile Prints and Originals page 188 I'd just assume the seller was quoting the price he purchased it for which would be much later than 2006. The original price of these in 2006 was $1250 or $1500 ( I'm not 100% sure here which). morleys Also, I can see that it is stamped (red 2006) as it should be. Some were also blind stamped (faint stamp of Faile Dog in that corner). Is it? Lastly, good luck with the sale.
Hi motor , Yes, it is obvious that the images depict a work on paper. It is not clear, however, why Faile would ostensibly refer to it as a work on canvas. If I owned a work on paper, which I had paid 6000 USD for, and I then heard from Faile that it is a work on canvas, I would seek to clarify the discrepancy. Especially before trying to sell the work on. Rather than suggest that the depicted work is inauthentic, my questions and comments were meant to encourage morleys to seek out more information about the piece they seemingly possess and are looking to sell.

For Sale: Original FAILE, by Peter Bengtsen on Apr 9, 2023 9:06:02 GMT 1, Hello, I have an original Faile artwork on paper from the 2006 Portland show (91cm x 61cm). The artwork is very nice with just a line on the top darker (see picture) I'm from France and I can ship it flat and worldwide with a custom case. Faile did an exhibition in Paris at the Magda Gallery in May 2017, and I took the opportunity to ask the organizer of the exhibition to ask them what they thought about it and here is their answer: "Yes it is am original work on canvas from 2006 from a show we did in Portland." I put a link from the Portland 2006 Faile Show. The link comes from failforum where Iron, the moderator, helped me to find more informations about this artwork (lot of thanks ! ) : faileforum.proboards.com/thread/1771/faile-prints-fifty24-gallery-portlandThe original sale price was 6000$. I'm open to offer !
Hello morleys , A couple of questions and comments regarding this piece. First, is the work you are selling on paper or canvas?
I ask because you state that it is on paper, but in the feedback you ostensibly got from Faile through a third party it is described as a canvas.
Second, are you sure the work you are selling was shown at Fifty 24PDX Gallery in Portland?
When looking through a video of Faile's 2006 exhibition, as well as photographic documentation on Faile's website, this work is claimed to have been a part of, I do not see it hanging on the wall:
Perhaps the work you are selling was created at the same time as the displayed works, but not actually exhibited?
[Note: there seems to be a part of the gallery space that is not shown in the video or photographs. It is possible the work was hung there. I find it a bit odd, however, that the documentation of the exhibition would not include all the works that were on display].
Third, are you claiming that the original price of this work from either Fifty 24PDX Gallery or Faile was 6000 USD?
I ask because, provided that this work is actually on paper, from memory these works were sold at a significantly lower price.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Mar 28, 2023 10:54:15 GMT 1, Easier with a picture the stamp circled in green is the one from official release, done by Ukrainian post on the original frames the postal stamp circled in blue is an additional one, done probably by the seller
While this illustration is helpful, it should be noted that the stamp circled in green is that of the frame maker, not Ukrposhta.
Is there any evidence to back up that it was "done by [the] Ukrainian post"? I find it much more likely it was placed there by the frame maker.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Mar 24, 2023 18:09:26 GMT 1, Those are odd - assuming they did it at the time of purchase as they were not on the original images. The second stamp is here from the beginning, on all items on sale on eBay or on the Ukrainian post website
This is not correct. The first frames to appear on e Bay do not have a second postal stamp on the back. The only stamp on the back is the stamp of the frame maker. Also, the description on the Ukrposhta website makes no mention of a second postal stamp being placed on the back of the frame. EDIT: below are images from an e Bay listing by moskoua (who was one of the first to start selling these on that platform):

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Mar 20, 2023 15:54:04 GMT 1, I bought one off Ebay and also asked the company Bagetnaya.com.ua I received the following reply: "Yes, we made these framed Banksy editions for Ukraine Post office. Sorry but I canโt answer, how many were created frames. This information is confidential Thanks for communication Best regards Jury"
I have also been back in touch with the framer. They have now confirmed that they made the "framed Banksy editions" for the Ukraine Post office. They did not state how many were made.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Mar 20, 2023 12:55:09 GMT 1,
Thank you for clarifying. So your confirmation that this is an edition of 1500 that was made for/published by Ukrposhta comes from the eBay seller "moskoua"?
I ask because I got in touch with the company that has made framed editions of other stamps for Ukrposhta. I sent them a link to an eBay auction by "moskoua" for one of these frames and asked them the following:
---
"I was wondering if you can confirm whether you created these frames for Ukrposhta? If you made them, I would also be interested to know how many frames were made. I could not find any information on your website or on your Instagram about this."
--
Their response was simply: "This information is confidential".
Obviously this doesn't mean that the framed edition on eBay was not made by the frame shop. Indeed, if it was not, the frame shop would have every incentive to clearly say so.
However, it also does not confirm that the framed edition sold on eBay was actually made by the frame shop for Ukrposhta.
EDIT: Since first posting this, I have been in touch with the framer again. They have now confirmed that they made the "framed Banksy editions" for the Ukraine Post office. They did not state how many were made.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by Peter Bengtsen on Mar 20, 2023 11:43:02 GMT 1, I know everyone is mad for the Booklets, which were limited to 1,500. But, has anyone bought or followed the Framed First-Day Stamp / Maxi Cards, which look very cool and were obviously more limited in quantity. The postage stamp & mount actually have the first-day mark. I recall briefly seeing it on the Urposhta website, already sold out - can't find the link to it now. Anyone any idea what quantity they showed / did? I checked with the company in the Ukraine I bought this from, and apparently there were only 1500 made/released - same as the Booklets. Funny how everyone has latched onto the Booklets, but missed these, when they are made to display! They were made up by Bagetnaya for Ukrposhta, who make all their framed specials. I also know they are 100% genuine, because I saw them on the Ukrposhta site, but sold out.
Which company did you contact/buy from?

Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, by Peter Bengtsen on Mar 17, 2023 18:20:16 GMT 1, ICC judges issue arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin over alleged war crimes linkPretty pointless in reality, but the message it sends is quite something.
My understanding is that Putin's ability to travel is now severely limited.
He may not have wanted to travel currently. But now it isn't up to him. In principle, if he travels to one of the 123 states that have ratified or acceded to the Rome Statute, he will be arrested.
This is another clear indication that things are not just going to go back to normal for him. As such, I think it is anything but pointless.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Peter Bengtsen on Feb 28, 2023 13:11:45 GMT 1, Some one taking sense on this forum ๐ Not really a joke, a necessity for Banksy to fight back a few companies who copyrighted merchandising using Banksy's image. Judge's verdict was clear, a stupid verdict but it is the reality; the only protection for artist is to sell merchandising. Banksy tried that but still he lost the case, mainly on the ground that Bansky always claimed that he didn't care about copryight and people are free to do whatever they want with his image (as long as not sold as Banksy original)... so yeah, for sure the judge thought exactly the same, big narrative fail indeed.

FS: Banksy, JR, KAWS, Brainwash, Beejoir, BAST, Bearbrick ++, by Peter Bengtsen on Feb 10, 2023 20:26:07 GMT 1, I genuinely thought that the edition of 40 was the Glitter. My bad! Original post now updated. Thanks klyde! Very easy mistake to make. Each are so heavily hand finished it really makes little difference. The glitter ones have glitter on the tongue (I've got one at home) That and the edition size its basically it. Good luck with the sale.
Are you sure the glitter is on the tongue?
I have only seen photos of this print edition, but in the images I have seen, the glitter was always on the tooth (where the dollar sign is).

VERMIN Authentication for Banksy Street Art, by Peter Bengtsen on Jan 26, 2023 23:34:37 GMT 1, The premise of your answer is wrong. Either you dont understand, or choose not to understand the meaning of authenticity. For reasons more or less unknown.
I didn't comment on authenticity. I commented on the value of Vermin's so-called "certifications".
