Framing Nightmare, by dwight on Mar 23, 2007 3:40:22 GMT 1, I use 100% rag mounting and archival backing. It costs dearly from 200-300 USD, but I think it's worth it for my Banksy prints... I don't use UV glass though, is it really worth it if I don't have the prints in sunlight?

Prints in Bathrooms..., by dwight on Mar 23, 2007 3:28:34 GMT 1, I'd say don't do it. I am putting a reproduction warhol in my bathroom in a nice frame, but as for valuable prints...I'd avoid it. I explored the same issue and was told they can seal the frame if the print is framed to archival standards, but there's no guarantee. Moisture can cause a lot of damage and some of it you won't see like foxing on the corners and edges from expansion of mold and moisture exchange...

Kinsey/Choe/Insect, by dwight on Nov 30, 2007 22:41:44 GMT 1, own a similar one of these myself... He used watercolor, marker, paint on a heavy paper. Good looking.
Also anybody see the Kinsey canvas on ebay about to end soon? Looks nice, but doesn't have any paperwork, although I bet it wouldn't be too much trouble to get them to validate it

Banksy • Festival, Destroy Capitalism, by dwight on Nov 18, 2007 22:02:10 GMT 1, Do they often change or add colors?... Does it affect the "value" (I mean financial one ;-) , for instance, will B&W trolleys will get more value than color ones). Good luck with your sale, it really is a nice print. Original signed will always be sold for more, hence Black and White Trolleys V's Colour. IMO The Colour version is just a way of trying to get more prints "out there" to the fans, whilst making a bit more money for them selves. Now if they Only made a small run, say 25/50 then yes a Coloured version may be worth more. With all Banksy prints its all about the image and not so much the edition size.
In any case, the color series is excellent because it provides a chance for others to own a signed banksy. I'm glad there are more available. These larger signed editions should hold a great value in my opinion, given their value won't exceed the smaller editions of signed. If your in it for the money, buy canvases...significantly more growth potential there..

Barcode goes crazy...., by dwight on May 2, 2007 0:28:39 GMT 1, Although I don't predict a drop anytime soon, I will say that as Banksy prices rise to the 5 and 10k marks for prints, Banksy starts to compete with other artists in that range. People who are considering spending 5-10k on a Banksy are likely also considering hirst, warhol, miro and others...

Monster, by dwight on Mar 26, 2007 22:27:19 GMT 1, Probably just wanted to get the original 175gbp price..... I don't think this is necessarily the future of the piece. Probably will rise in value after some time... I'm keeping mine... it's a fantastic peice.

Banksy • Paranoid Pictures, by dwight on Apr 5, 2007 17:33:15 GMT 1, I saw that auction. 7k is cheap now, but at the time it seemed about right. At the time, signed prints were going for a good bit less. Also there were some stains on the back which you can see in one of the pictures... I don't think it was a scam auction

witch Hunt!, by dwight on Apr 2, 2007 1:57:47 GMT 1, Does it seem to anyone else that there's a witch hunt going on? Everyone is trying to catch other people flipping prints... Reminds me of the witch hunt in Monty Python...the holy grail one...
Sir Bedevere: What makes you think she's a witch? Peasant 3: Well, she turned me into a newt! Sir Bedevere: A newt? Peasant 3: [meekly after a long pause] ... I got better. Crowd: [shouts] Burn her anyway!
Sir Bedevere: There are ways of telling whether she is a witch. Peasant 1: Are there? Oh well, tell us. Sir Bedevere: Tell me. What do you do with witches? Peasant 1: Burn them. Sir Bedevere: And what do you burn, apart from witches? Peasant 1: More witches. Peasant 2: Wood. Sir Bedevere: Good. Now, why do witches burn? Peasant 3: ...because they're made of... wood? Sir Bedevere: Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood? Peasant 1: Build a bridge out of her. Sir Bedevere: But can you not also build bridges out of stone? Peasant 1: Oh yeah. Sir Bedevere: Does wood sink in water? Peasant 1: No, no, it floats!... It floats! Throw her into the pond!
And also, I'm glad Banksy is growing in popularity, even if it is harder to get his prints.. Now all those people 4 years ago that I told about his work will believe me..

Banksy Prices Level Off, by dwight on Mar 8, 2007 21:41:59 GMT 1, Silky, I think that some specific prices will continue to rise at the release of the remaining LA prints, but I think that with a sudden surge of supply, the prices for the unsigned prints will be slightly lower than what we have seen. For example, around 600gbp is about the norm for an unsigned applause, but when there is a flood of unsigned prints available the prices for the new unsigned prints will (I believe) settle back into that comfortable 500 or so.
Just my opinion, but I do appreciate the great posts on the subject...

Banksy Prices Level Off, by dwight on Mar 8, 2007 20:17:47 GMT 1, I know that this has been discussed, but I thought I would start a thread to see what others think.
I personally think that the prices are falling off. Especially unsigned prints. The reason I see this price drop off is the release of more prints and the already inflated prices. If Banksy begins to release his prints like Micallef for 4k gbp a peice, the hype for banksy will die down some. It's also hard to see banksy prints selling for more than established artists' prints. Not that Banksy isn't up there with the legit artists. It's just that other prints like signed warhol prints which are 20 yrs old sell for similar prices as some banksy prints. Prices may stay the same, but I think that it is unreasonable to expect the same types of increases in value that have been experienced over the last 6 months (except rare signed originals/old signed prints)
Perhaps Banksy will grab the attention of the world with some new stunts, but right now he seems to be in publicity lull that is only made worse by POW continuing to delay the release of new prints.
Just my two cents...

2 * Signed Coloured Soup Cans, by dwight on Feb 6, 2007 19:09:34 GMT 1, 3500 seems a little high to me. I would guess somewhere a little lower in the 2700 range from what I've seen on the bay over the past months... But that's only if you sell over ebay, there are other art houses that seek prints..

How much will I need to pay for a signed Morons?, by dwight on Apr 2, 2007 20:06:28 GMT 1, I think you bring up a lot of good points. I have a similar opinion of the Sepia. It seems everyone is lumping it together with the larger hap-hazard white run...when in fact it is its own edition. Also the white run is a confusing run with 1-50 somewhere in limbo, 51-200 (signed?) printed differently in LA, and 201-500 printed differently by POW. From what I have read, it seems that Mr. B wanted to still edit the images when they were printed for LA which resulted in the normal 1-150 not being signed and the changes made to the printing. I think that the remaining signed and unsigned whites were done in obligation to those who had purchased in LA to validate the series. While still a great image, I think that is why there is a New, fully signed smaller edition of Sepia. I expect to see the same thing on at least trolleys. Only one man's opinion...

somebody didn't read the rules of engagement!, by dwight on Apr 22, 2007 17:42:54 GMT 1, I really don't think that pow cares about resellers. I think that they are using a program that prevents people from using the same cc number or address to order multiple prints, but I seriously doubt they are investigating the resale of prints unless you somehow got several and are reselling them all. There are some real detectives on this board, but I really don't think pow is policing ebay as well as some here are....
