JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 21, 2015 14:45:14 GMT 1, I Dont need to sell these prints for financial reasons, I just genuinely need to make space hence the cost price. If someone wants them, great, otherwise I will keep hold of them/eBay auction them. Hopefully a good opportunity for a collector who missed out on launch.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 19, 2015 20:39:15 GMT 1, For sale is my set of R2D2 pop art prints, this is a matching set all numbered 2/77 of which come with all COAs purchased by myself on release.
Fantastic set, great numbers from the edfition.
And a sold out print from the latest collection Dance With The Devil 2 Both can be had at retail, not looking at making money out of these. There are a couple of sets on the bay of R2's with people asking 2k, personally I don't believe that's a fair price.
And the Dance with the devil has sold at ยฃ600 but again I am happy with retail price to give a collector a second bite of the cherry on this print.
Please pm if you are interested.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 17, 2015 21:19:27 GMT 1, love it or loathe it, these are my latest additions to my JJ collection and I think they are amazing. I don't think it's fair to say that these images are easy to do by any stretch of the imagination.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 15, 2015 18:36:06 GMT 1, All just sounds like hype to me, his work is lazy and tasteless. You've changed your tune, I thought you loved JJ Adams and his "lazy and tasteless" work? UmBongo. I was referring to Invader, more for the reaction than anything else - when someone attempted to justify JJs work by value all ye nay sayers got all riled about that. As soon as I bring in an accepted artist into question the first justification was value. I then re-use a critique and high horses are swiftly mounted.
But then, I must be part of the publishing company/Work for a gallery and am just 'hyping' anyway.
My real opinion on the works of JJ are well documented on this thread in a balanced and fair way.
My real opinion on the works of Invader are that they are mostly a bit "meh" and probably over valued but some of the pieces are ok... not sure I would own one though. courses for horses (deliberate error for comedic purposes) and all that jazz.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 14, 2015 20:10:21 GMT 1, Invader is way more 'hyped' on here by the same definition and look at the detail in a lot of his work. Call it hype all you want, but invader originals are selling for millions of dollars. Literal millions. As far as the art world is concerned, JJ Adams isn't even in the same universe. Interesting, using value to justify why it is more valid than another form of art.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 8, 2015 22:09:03 GMT 1, JJ Adams work is way better than the latest prints Dolks going to release. and my art is better than both Is one opinion...
Over used clichรฉs and trying too hard to be controversial.
I might be Steve Everyman but give me the scarecrow from wizard of oz with 'brains' from Thunderbirds on his sleeve any day.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 8, 2015 20:28:03 GMT 1, ]Do I like all of the Albums by Red Hot Chilli Peppers? did I buy the most recent release by RHCP? No... but doesn't mean that if I like them I am hyping them or own a gallery/am part of the record company. A better analogy would be Coldplay, who seem a corporate mish mash of what's popular, have risen high in the music world, and have largely created a body of work that sucks yet is quite popular. See anyone would just think you want to disagree with anyone who supports JJ. I stand by my analogy on the basis I like (some of) RHCPs work. Coldplay have no redeeming features. (Opens up line for nay sayers)

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 5, 2015 13:17:02 GMT 1, I have been accused of being Eye Kandi art for my enjoyment and appreciation of JJ's work on this very thread. It's a little mad the reaction his work has caused on here with the haters so passionately hating and making it really personal to those who like his work. I don't think anybody is hyping the work here - just sharing an opinion of liking it. Invader is way more 'hyped' on here by the same definition and look at the detail in a lot of his work. This statement is not to say I hate his work, just i don't think I would buy it and I don't understand how it has become so valuable. But by the same virtue I would not buy a lot of JJ's work because I simply do not like those pieces.
I have met JJ on a couple of occasions at the launches and he is a pretty chilled out character with a decent sense of humor and quite unaffected (as someone else on here has described him before) by the whole thing. He appears to enjoy what he does and is always happy to talk through his work. I understand why he has tweeted what he has - not sure in the same position I would do the same but fair play to him.
There is nothing wrong with his work being "commercial" nobody is forcing it upon anybody and if what appears to be a growing number of people are buying and enjoying his work who are we to judge? The first piece I purchased was one myself and my girlfriend (at the time - now wife) walked passed a gallery and both instantly adored in the window what turned out to be his "Wizard of Oz" piece. We had not heard of the artist had no idea about any "value" it may have had at this point. A couple of weeks later we got engaged and were asked by family what we wanted as an engagement present and it popped into our heads the picture we had seen in the gallery window so we called the gallery and purchased it. Then when picking the piece up I saw his R2D2 picture and the starwars nerd in me just had to have it - I had no idea how much it would appreciate in value and was not purchased for that reason.
So really, it is no different to hearing a piece of "commercial" music on the radio/on TV/in a shop and buying the album?

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 4, 2015 18:01:36 GMT 1, Really cool idea auctioning off a JJ screen print for charity, the only reason I won't bid is that I already have one.
I was not so keen on the new screen prints either, they just didn't do it for me and my wife didn't like them so it was definitely a no go for us. The scout trooper was fun but again my wife was not going to go for that either. But we have just got the time machine which I think is fantastic!

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on May 1, 2015 17:27:31 GMT 1, Why does it matter what has or has not happened with this mini release if you don't like the work by JJ anyways. I thought it was odd that there was not any star wars pieces in the recent release. I guess this release solves that.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Apr 27, 2015 19:35:56 GMT 1, This is all well and good but this sort of style does not count for all of his work, there are screen prints, oils on canvas and then the more comic/pop types. Dismissing these facts to support an argument is petty. Pettier still is accusations of my motives for liking his work. It all seems like people are taking it quite far over art they simply don't like - which I totally understand why anyone may not. What sort of response would I get if I called into question the validity and talent behind stiks work? One auction result does not art history "fact" make , and, that's really the only point I keep hearing being raised again and again. Stik actually puts brush/can to canvas, and, has put the work in to get where he is - he is probably one of the most "community minded" street artist out there - and, his rise has been slow, steady and quite organic, no massive push, and, to my knowledge, no publisher/gallery pushing up auction results and pumping out press releases. Yes, his work may be simple, but, it speaks to people's emotions without the need for language. JJ Adams work is very formulaic and has been done before. As has the kind of PR campaign that's going on behind him. We've all seen it before, many times. That was all. UmBongo. Where have I mentioned an auction result in any of my posts? In fact, I don't think I have even mentioned value of JJ's work to back up anything.
And I also agree that there is a bubble and it probably will burst. However, this bothers me none as I have images that are personal to me that I bought because I like them.
So, let's try reading my above post again where I have said there are oils on canvas images and screen prints by JJ... It is not ALL digital art. And even when it is digital it is not all tattooed celebs taken from iconic photos etc.
Actually read my posts, then respond to ensure accuracy of response.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Apr 26, 2015 9:54:13 GMT 1, Is "Dodsi" involved with the "JJ Adams bandwagon" by any chance? I wondered if he was really a she Nope, like Eminem I am whatever I say I am...
And Was? Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated! *checks pulse*
What is with the feeble attempts at discrediting me as someone from camp JJ or as a gallery owner?
No hype here, just a collector of a few fine and personal pieces that has a viewpoint that does not agree with the status quo of Anti JJ.
However, do I like ALL of his work? No, not at all. There are probably more that I don't like than I do.
And I still have that Leia, at the time I had the R2D2 as well and was made an offer I couldn't really refuse (read wife told me to sell for the price I was offered) so R2 went and I kept the Leia.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Apr 25, 2015 14:44:29 GMT 1, The main issue with the people 'discussing' from a stand point of not liking the work are from an uninformed standpoint on a number of factors and choosing to ignore facts presented and carrying on arguing uninformed points.
Discussion is healthy and reading my previous posts on the subject I certainty agree with some of the negative opinions his work.
However, saying that one form of very simple art is somehow more intellectual than another because its less mainstream than another. Or discrediting something through its simplicity to replicate alone is too easy.
My case and point here is 'invader' seriously, WTF I am a talentless baffoon with shovels for hands and toffee apples for brains and even I - a remedial class Peter Griffin could brazenly create a quick mock up of this style of work and bring the artists talent into question.
But of course I wouldn't do that for fear of pitch forks and angry villagers.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Apr 25, 2015 7:09:23 GMT 1, JJ is represented by a publisher along with other artists and the publisher sells to a number of galleries nation wide. Not really as 'online' as the misinformed are trying to state. However, in 2015 it is not uncommon for these galleries (which are physical galleries) to take advantage of 'modern' technology and utilise e-commerce to increase revenue and exposure.
There was an issue last year with some traders buying and listing on eBay as first point of sale but the publisher has put effort into stopping this as it devalued the brand. The next thing on the list is to put measures in place to stop supply to 'flippers' as again this causes damage to the brand and is wholly unfair on those who miss out and it artificially inflates the market.
