Penny Artwork, VALUATION, by dodsi on Mar 31, 2017 7:36:42 GMT 1, Does anybody have a fair estimation of the value of 'cuts' by penny? It's hard to find examples on eBay etc of sold values to get an idea.

Penny Print, Original, WANTED, by dodsi on Mar 9, 2017 16:30:17 GMT 1, I have a penny Cuts in a special frame job I may part with since I took it off the wall to make way for something sentimental.ย Its framed with some Astro turf on the outside of the glass surrounding the note and in a natural wood frame. Personally I think it looks great and I have shared the picture with the man himself who really liked it.ย I need to see a photo of your frame now )
I shall get a picture, and probably post it in the 'for sale' section as it's laid around doing nothing being completely unappreciated.

New Print by Ploppi. , by dodsi on May 25, 2016 14:44:15 GMT 1, Will these be as valuable as a stik? Stik lol ย Goldfish on a Stick maybe ย Pet Rock ?ย Stick of Rock ? In which way? ย It depends how one defines value and how one defines success. ย To me a succesful artist is someone who makes art. How much art sells for does not define a successful artist. That defines a successful business person. ย Value as in financial doesn't bother me. I would rather people buy my art because they appreciate it and because it is not expensive meaning they can collect it rather than buy art with borrowed money because they have jumped on a reselling band wagon. ย When Van Gogh was painting, a buyer went into a gallery and mentioned to the dealer they were thinking of buying a Van Gogh to which the dealer told them not to waste their money and persuaded them to buy art by another artist for a high price as an investment. The other artist is unknown today and van Gogh well known. ย How many expensive prints bought today by professional wallers sold thru galleries will be worth a fraction and how many will be worth a lot more is not my game. Thats an investment game perpetuated by dealers. ย ย
Tl;DR...
Can I flip it?

Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by dodsi on May 16, 2016 13:05:54 GMT 1, F&B is just expensive and not particularly good. I have this on good authority from my brother-in-law whom is in the trade and regularly is asked to use F&B and says it is really not very good compared to Dulux Trade paint (the word 'trade' being key here - not the normal range) which he swears by. I am currently refurbishing my place and using Dulux Trade Grey Steel 4 under strict instruction! - no pictures currently as all my art is off the walls whilst things get finished up. No 4 in the range is the lightest, you can, in addition get 3 - 1 with 1 being the darkest. However - you can have this stuff mixed up to any colour you wish. I am incredibly happy with the outcome of the works here. It depends what is meant by 'good'. Every painter and decorator I've spoken to or read on DIY forums hates Farrow & Ball because it's so much more difficut to apply than more regular paint (Dulux, etc), due to its more 'chalky' consistency. Therefore I'm usually told that Dulux is 'better', ie easier/quicker for them get the job done. If you've got kids, F&B would not be 'good' because it marks so easily compared to regular wipeable paint. But... You can colour match all you like, F&B has a matt finish and that the regular paints just don't have. And within the whites, the subtleties in shades cannot be matched by Dulux - they just find a 'nearest neighbour' from their own million colours, which sounds like a lot of colours but in reality isn't. In my experience the matching of whites has been way off the F&B colour. It depends how picky you are. This solidifys my decision further then, the Trade paint covers better and is harder wearing. It is definitely worth the extra money over F&B if it means there is less chance of me re-painting. In terms of the matt finish on the Dulux Trade - it's very flat.
As a side note, paying somebody to apply multiple coats because it cannot cover as well is a large amount of extra money to pay for something that ultimately won't also wear as well. Even paying mates rates my decorating bill is running very high!

Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by dodsi on May 16, 2016 8:51:10 GMT 1, The dulux trade we are using is actually more expensive than the f&b stuff it appears. No money saving tip just better quality.
But from an art conservation point of view we are using the mouldshield stuff which is anti fungal so there is no risk of any mould growing behind any pictures.

Stik Sleeping Baby, by dodsi on May 16, 2016 6:47:27 GMT 1, I don't think the offer here would pursuade me to part with my silver one if I was considering selling. You just have to consider the recent auction prices which of course I don't think is realistic for a private sale anyway... but this offer is not even 50% of that. Good luck with the search!

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Mar 24, 2016 0:05:44 GMT 1, They're not good - it's a shame as I really like the pieces by JJ that I own. All of the recent work has been very weak. I'd say all his work has been pretty week just can't imagine what the houses look like that cater for his works! Maybe a games room or kids bedroom or toilet is pushing it! Mine you mean? I am currently renovating and was kinda going for the contemporary and neutral thing. I had not considered I need to do anything different or special because I have a few pictures that other art collectors don't like.
Live and learn and all that.

Dean Fox, by dodsi on Jan 10, 2016 2:11:12 GMT 1, I'm not as much a fan of Dean Fox. I prefer courtys work who I believe is who is responsible for the neon in those very pictures.
He comes out with some really interesting neon pieces.

Best tea of the uk?, by dodsi on Dec 30, 2015 0:54:12 GMT 1, Is that the bloomin place on the corner that people dressed in stupid posh clobber queue round the block at lunch time to get in ? Went thru Harrogate once, got the impression no manners there as everybody wants to be better the everybody else ........ Just sayin, mind you it wasn't raining that day, that's good.
Yes, that's the one - if you are in Harrogate or even York but I'm not from either of those places the one I go to is usually much quieter as they have 4 branches.
It's all very overrated but their tea is excellent. Just buy the tea bags and make at home.
I go to great lengths to keep stocked up living 300 miles away!

Best tea of the uk?, by dodsi on Dec 30, 2015 0:26:39 GMT 1, I'm afraid you are all really very nearly correct with Yorkshire but there is a step up.
Yorkshire tea is made by Taylors of Harrogate. There are some famous tea rooms in Yorkshire called 'Bettys' who have their own 'tearoom blend' which is also made by Taylors of Harrogate but a slightly different blend. It's the ultimate - Yorkshire tea is the next best thing but the Bettys tearoom blend is really the king.
You may be able to buy it online from them directly but I always pick it up from the tearooms when I am visiting my home town.

Stik Sleeping Baby, by dodsi on Dec 25, 2015 20:18:27 GMT 1, Here is a picture of my framed up silver - I'm very happy with the options I took. Didn't think you could do anything too different to how many of the others are done. This is a pretty big print all framed up!
Not the first one to see with a mount... Look on the previous page of this thread.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Dec 24, 2015 7:33:45 GMT 1, I think they just tried to go too big too quick - what they should have done was to keep the exclusivity that people crave so much.
Large volumes of High edition giclee prints sold in big cheap frames is not going to do that.
The new artist from the same publisher is 'Tom Lewis' and from what I can see the same thing is being attempted.
I get a feeling there will be a 'once bitten' effect here.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Dec 23, 2015 19:16:43 GMT 1, I predicted that would happen, there was definitely a boom in his market earlier this year and late last year. It's a shame but this year there was a lot of work released and the quality really went downhill. I have a couple of pieces which I really like by him and absolutely accepted that they would be worth next to nothing at some point in the near future.

Kaws โข YSP Yorkshire Sculpture Park 2016, by dodsi on Dec 21, 2015 7:18:58 GMT 1, I think if I was flying in from overseas I would be flying into leeds/Bradford airport or Robin Hood Airport (doncaster).
Luckily all my family live in Yorkshire so this is a fairly easy one for me. Potential here for me to offer lift(s) as I would be traveling up from the south coast nr Brighton.
