David Shrigley โข Old Dog, I Still Love You, by Love Is In The Air on Nov 10, 2021 11:55:51 GMT 1, My (unverified) take would be he is popular amongst some art collectors and also very popular amongst less serious collectors, the type of people who might buy a couple of nice prints for their homes once every year or two and not overthink things like us lot on here.
Because of this there is a decent and buoyant secondary market for selling his prints at 2k-5k on secondary, possibly in some cases to these less serious/price savvy collectors. I know few other people who also like framing 2/3/4 of his prints together which looks good and also means you need to buy a number of his prints, which is no problem as he releases lots.
This large volume of potential buyers at the 2-3k level mean Shrigs prints are always popular on release day when it is tiered, but unless people really rate the print you see them languishing at the top tiers of around 2.5k+ where the margin for a quick flip is gone.
I could just be overthinking things though (wouldn't be first time on UAA)...

Tracey Emin Interview _ Radio 4 _ This Cultural Life, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 31, 2021 11:21:22 GMT 1, For anyone who is outside UK and maybe can't listen but might be interested, some of the quotes are below from a BBC media release.
If you are going to listen to the show, prob best not to read as imagine it would spoil it.
But I thought it might be worth posting for non UK Emin fans.......and have spaced this post out so hopefully no one reads too much to ruin it!
Tracey Emin is John Wilsonโs guest of This Cultural Life; a series of in-depth conversations with artists and creatives.
In the discussion, Emin discusses her friendship with David Bowie, and reveals Bowie wanted them to record a song together:
TE: โI was sitting in a Lebanese restaurant in Kensington in 1996 with a couple of other people and someone leaned over the table and said โIโm very sorry to interrupt, my nameโs David and I just want to say how much I love your work.โ And I looked up and David Bowieโs looking at me, and I said โlikewiseโ. And we became friends. It was just amazing that the only person I was ever a massive starstruck fan of, I became friends with.โ
TE: โWhen he played in Ireland and I went with him, I went to see him play and he said โthis goes out to my friend Tracey, whoโs going to be the most famous artist in the worldโ. And then he played Fame. Which is pretty brilliant.โ
TE: โI never really talk about my thing with David Bowie much because it all sounds a bit unreal really. It was just brilliant. To me, it just made sense that we were friends.โ
JW: โWas he a direct influence on your work?โ
TE: โNo, it was the other way round wasnโt it. With art, he really loved my art and I really loved his music. But he did โ this sounds silly, because I canโt sing a word, I canโt sing a note โ and heโd say to me โI could get you to sing. We could do a song together. Iโve got the perfect song that you could sing.โ I said โI canโt singโ and he said โyes you couldโ. And I always wish Iโd done it now, it would have been brilliantโ
Talking about regrets, Emin says she and her mum were asked to be extras on Only Fools and Horses, and she turned down the offer:
TE: โI also regret not being an extra with my mum on Fools and Horsesโฆ Me and my mum were in Margate sitting on a bench eating some jellied eels, and the scout person came and asked us if we would be extras.โ
JW: โWhen was this?โ
TE: โTwenty years ago or something. I would have loved to have been an extra in Fools and Horses with my mum.โ
JW: โDid they know you were Tracey Emin?โ
TE: โNo, we just looked so cool sitting there eating jellied eels and cockles. It would have been fun.โ
JW: โWhy did you say no then?โ
TE: โI donโt know. I was probably too self - I was going to say I was too up my own backside, thatโs what I was going to say โ but yeah, definitely. I thought I was too good to be an extra in Fools and Horses. How deranged was I? It would have been too classically brilliant, especially with my mumโ.
โIโve been overlookedโ โ while discussing her love of painting, Tracey Emin says โI think people didnโt understand the seriousness of my work over the last twenty yearsโ:
JW: โFor so many people, you ask somebody in the street about Tracey Emin, they probably still associate you with โMy Bedโ or the tent, which is called โEveryone I Ever Slept With 1963 - 1995โ. Do you think the painting has been overlooked?โ
TE: โNo, I think Iโve been overlooked. I think people didnโt understand the seriousness of my work over the last twenty years. I think they just thought I was some sort of narcissistic deranged screaming banshee.โ
Emin says it was love that saved her, following her cancer diagnosis and treatment:
JW: โI think you said โ you probably said many times - that art saved your life. Now that science has also your life, has that given new meaning to the art?โ
TE: โScience saved my life, definitely, medical science. My surgeon was lovely. A robot actually did all my surgery, which is quite incredible. But I think love saved me. I really think love saved me this time, not art.โ
JW: โWhat do you mean?โ
TE: โLove. I fell in love just before I found out I had cancer.โ
And she discusses the loneliness of being an artist:
TE: โBeing an artist is really lonely. You cannot be an artist hanging out at a giant party, itโs never going to work. Thereโs a part of you that has to go deep inside, like I say โinside the caveโ, and if you donโt go inside the cave, youโre never going to make any art. You need to be able to stand and see yourself to be able to make the art.โ

WANTED โข What Art are you Searching for?, by Love Is In The Air on Aug 23, 2021 12:23:28 GMT 1, I would really like the Charlotte Keates special edition of A Constant Hum with print, it sold out before I got into her a few months back. Appreciate it might be hard to get someone to relinquish it as only an edition of 100 but in case anyone bought two or isn't that fussed about it I have some cash and/or other bits that might appeal to someone: Banksy Stickers, Emin prints or even the Frank Bowling print that sold out at Counter recently 'As If Eleven' (would some cash coming my way for the latter). Anyway what more can I say, I'm desperate so throwing out some ideas! If you've got one and might sell/swap PM me. Have done lots of deals on here so hopefully can be trusted. Cheers Still looking for the Charlotte Keates book + Print. Almost had a deal in place with a swap but fell through last minute so back on the hunt. I still have some swappable stuff (I think) and cash so if you are having second thoughts or bought two of these please please get in touch. Cheers

Regardless of the print, the exhibition is definitely worth a look if you are in London this weekend : )

Would love to be able to afford the bigger ones on show - though they are all sold out anyway. Single colour drawings also look incredible. Standard book without print and the new print is also available there to take away and book is nice quality IMHO with cloth cover etc.

Banksy - May June 2021 PRINT AUCTIONS, by Love Is In The Air on Jun 10, 2021 18:12:01 GMT 1, Winchester, I can't believe how often you come on this forum purely to post negative comments. You don't like Banksy, we get it. You think his prices are dropping and will continue to drop, we get it. But it is so boring to read over and over again.
You also seem to be keen to query the fact there are condition issues which affect pricing in the market. Lots of the older Banksy prints in auctions have conditions issues, that's why they get sold in auction and not face to face or by a gallery, because some stupid/lazy people don't bother to read condition reports and bid anyway and the prints are sold as seen on the day. The Rude Copper in this auction had a chunk of fading/discolouration at the top of the print, quite a big section that would be noticeable even when framed. I've no idea if it affected the hammer price but most collectors on here would reject it in a face to face deal.
