Framers in DFW area?, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 27, 2016 17:57:50 GMT 1, BeauxArts in the Dallas design district does excellent high quality work at reasonable prices. I've had several pieces framed there. They strive for minimal impact mounting. They use Japanese Wheat Paste to attach prints, which is supposed be virtually reversible / non-destructive. Thank you, I'll check them out, they sound exactly like what I'm looking for.

Framers in DFW area?, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 27, 2016 14:59:33 GMT 1, From the KAWS thread I've noticed there are at least some members on here from the DFW area - the framer that I loved retired and now I'm looking for someone new; I've been using a framer across the country by mail (with good results), but I've got a pretty large piece, and a pretty pricey piece, so I'm on the hunt for someone local. Any suggestions?

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 26, 2016 14:44:10 GMT 1, I failed last night on the BFF drop like some others (carted but couldn't get passed shipping address). Does anyone know if the remainder were on the site last night (as it seemed the initial day at the museum only released 500), or will more still be sold by the museum through the end of the exhibition? It's buried somewhere in the thread, but someone talked to the museum on opening day and they indicated at that time they'd be rolling out more BFF stock throughout the exhibition, but no further details were given.

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 26, 2016 3:19:32 GMT 1, What address? I never saw anything added? There was a drop down under the international store button - it originally had "Kaws BFF" (for the prior blue drop) but they added "Here comes black BFF" (or thereabouts) around 30-40 past the hour. They dropped in there.

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 22, 2016 16:41:19 GMT 1, I get page can't be found? Is it just my phone? Are you on wifi? I do noticed this crappy site really needs wifi turned off and operating on my mobile line to see anything. It sucks, but then again, we know how lousy this entire site went that day. Nope, out in public on a normal cellular network. Weird.

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 20, 2016 22:03:17 GMT 1, I arrived at 9:10am and the line was already pretty long. I didn't get to the front of the line until about 12:30. They ran out of companions before I got to the front, but I was able to get a couple of bffs. They were almost out though. Probably only had about 20 left when I got mine. The museum staff said they had 500 in the store. Goddamn I am glad I did not try and talk my wife into waiting in line.
And yeah, the most recent print was hanging in the giftshop, I have to think that was the 18k print.
Kaws posted on IG that they're going to be getting more stock. I'm hoping it's without much/any notice so they don't have the volume buyers flying in again. I really just want a BFF.

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 20, 2016 19:34:45 GMT 1, I Woke in Relief thank you so much for the pictures! This has to be one of the great exhibitions of our time, every important piece from his entire career is on display! Was there a display of his print editions? If anyone wants to coordinate a trip from LA, I will defiantly be heading out there before it closes. No, no display of his print editions - though I believe that brand new one is hung in the gift shop, but I only saw that in passing.
It's an incredible exhibit, I'm amazed that Ft Worth got it (even though the Modern is an excellent museum).

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 20, 2016 19:07:49 GMT 1, Fantastic photos, I want to see more!!! I can't get enough, fantastic, were there any large standing dissected companions on display? Also anyone care to comment what this open edition release will do to the value of the Dissected Companion 2006 16in release of 500. Will it dilute their value or make them more sought after as a superior size and limited edition? The only dissected statue is the one reclining. I think I included pics of all sculptures save maybe one (a wooden one, it was a companion consoling another companion). There were a couple Simpsons canvases I missed, and maybe two other random canvases. Other than that I think I got a shareable picture of everything.

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 20, 2016 18:44:57 GMT 1, Apologies for the obscene amount of photos - there are even a few pieces that I managed to f**kup taking the picture, so this doesn't even cover everything on display, but it catches most of it.
*If this post is too big let me know and I'll edit it down*
This last one is just to show the scale on this one:

Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 20, 2016 18:01:42 GMT 1, Fat chance, but if anyone's there and can get an extra BFF... !? Had a friend just face time me from the line. Not very many people there to be honest. Maybe the rest will be released online at a later date... It was a pretty big run of 3000 and it looked like only 40-50 people in que. That wasn't really the case from about 10:00 - 11:30; there were probably 70 people in line inside and another 50-60 outside, and it was about the long the entire time I was there (or, at least, it was that long when I went into the exhibit and it was the same when I came out). I still doubt they sell out today (assuming they have the full run), but I'd be surprised if it lasts through the whole exhibition.
That said, show was awesome, I'll post pics in a little while.

New Conor Harrington print, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 19, 2016 17:08:09 GMT 1, Amazing print. But £700?! That's expensive right? The last one was £600, right? Not saying it's not expensive, but the prior sold out immediately and is highly sought after, so it's not unexpected.

Lost parcels, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 19, 2016 16:34:18 GMT 1, I understand iwokeinrelief, but this seems the beginning of a long and painful process that will, for sure, get stuck somewhere. I am really messed up with this. My purchases will stop for sure. I'm not sure that it will be long or painful - have you been in communication with the seller? Are they refusing to refund you? This should be pretty simple, as long as you paid in a manner that is in some way protected.
It sucks that it happened though, sorry to hear it.

Lost parcels, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 19, 2016 16:25:47 GMT 1, Gents,
A work I bought was lost in a fire at customs warehouse. Honestly I am deeply sad and heartbroken with this. This item took me a long time to deal for the right price and is now lost.
What is funny in the middle of this is that customs and postal services from the country that received the parcel will not repay my money. They told me that the sender has to initiate an investigation process by the sending country postal services and after this they will send repayment to the sender, not to me. Then I have to ask the sender to repay me!
Did someone, unfortunately, went thru this situation before that could provide some advice?
Sorry for the off topic but since here there is a lot of people transacting art I though I could find someone that went thru a similar situation (item lost, etc, etc).
Regards Yeah, this is true. Shipping insurance is really there to protect the seller - since the item you purchased did not arrive (and will not arrive) the seller should refund you, and file a claim with the PO to make themselves whole.
And, if the seller doesn't want to refund you: assuming you paid through PayPal as merchandise (not a gift payment) your purchase is protected by PayPal; the seller's funds are "protected" by insurance. Conversely, if you paid via credit card through some other venue, your purchase is still protected by your credit card company.

Mr Jago - this acid reign print, by I Woke in Relief on Oct 19, 2016 16:20:04 GMT 1, I actually will go one step further and say this experience was far more enjoyable than I've had with GP - they tell you where you are in the queue before you can pay and once you get to the payment you have about 5 mins to do it .... so much better than add to cart, go to payment, put in PayPal - go to PayPal and find nothing in your cart .... this is just my opinion. Well, what you're describing here is a result of BigCartel changing the ability to hold something in a cart, and is not actually indicative of basically any normal GP drop, besides the last two that occurred after the BC change. And GP has been pretty public about working towards a platform that allows for carting again.
(that said, timed carts are their own pain in the ass, and can drag drops on for inordinate amounts of time - there are pluses and minuses to both formats. Timed carts are awesome only if you manage to get what you want in your cart)
