Pejac - Scattercrow print, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 22:37:29 GMT 1, I would definitely have any valuable (either monetary or sentimental) works re-framed. I think short term, as long as there is not excess humidity, should be fine, but it is not a good outlook for the long-term to have the prints directly touching the glass.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 21:09:46 GMT 1, I don't imagine that is repairable, but why not list it and see what happens? I'd happily frame it for the right price. This is after the repair, look at the nick of it originally, see post above. Oh my...
That said, I'd still be a buyer at the right price.

Jasper Johns 🇺🇸 Painter • Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by mla on Jul 13, 2017 19:04:15 GMT 1, Come on brother. Why do you feel the need to insult me? We can all come to our own conclusions, and that's part of the fun. I've studied the lawsuits surrounding what is defined as a "fine art print" and these satisfy many of the categories discussed by the courts. Also, John's "supervised" the project, which goes much further then simple "awareness." I'm a lawyer, so my tendency is to look to what the courts have determined. Others will find other sources more persuasive. I'm not delusional, I don't think these are any more valuable then the prices listed. There's a difference between value and authenticity. Something can be authentic, but not valuable, and the other way around. "Facsimile" is defined as "an exact copy of printed material," that definition covers all prints derived from original images. Every Banksy print is a "Facsimile." A "poster" may be the better definition, but that also has its drawbacks as these were produced in a limited run and were not used for advertising purposes. Thus, maybe "ephemera" (a catch all term for authentic works by an artist but not recognized editions/OGs) is the most accurate definition.
I don't have anything against you, but I think your conclusion here is ridiculous.
I'm sorry but simply stating "I'm a lawyer" isn't enough to sway my opinion. What cases in particular are you referring to and how are they specifically relevant to the discussion at hand?
As stated previously in this thread, ULAE provided further information regarding Johns' involvement in the project via email and it's clear that he did not "supervise" anything. They stated that he was "aware". And again, going back to intent, he was aware that they were producing a facsimile catalogue, not several editions of "fine art prints" as you so claim.
I don't think your comparison to Banksy prints is particularly relevant. Those are multiples of an original image, whereas here, we are discussing multiples of multiples of an original image.
That extra step, the very clear labeling on the prints, the lack of artist involvement, the lack of final artist approval, and the original intent make these anything but "fine art prints".

Jasper Johns 🇺🇸 Painter • Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by mla on Jul 13, 2017 18:29:23 GMT 1, So what do you make of their superb quality, that they are produced on the same paper, process etc as the originals. That they were produced by the same hands that made the originals. It's fine to point out they are facsimiles but you are ignoring a lot of other crucial information about the uniqueness of the project.
I'd rather stab myself with a fork in the eye than subject myself to the illogical merry-go-round of arguing with the likes of yourself.
For what it's worth, I think they look nice. Enjoy them.

WCP The West Country Prince, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 18:25:00 GMT 1, I'm wasn't "complaining" about the quality, I was simply pointing out differences to someone who asked. I hate the very concept of these garbage prints whether they are identical or not. I would never hang an unauthorized reproduction piece of "art". It's so ironic the distaste and claim of 'unauthentic' or 'unauthorized'. Especially cause the whole concept of banksy stems from unauthorized work. It's quite ironic.
My disdain for unauthorized, inauthentic or other counterfeit products is not limited to just Bansky, or even just art. If you can't afford it, buy something else.

WCP The West Country Prince, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 17:56:41 GMT 1, Im sure that ive seen others compared on here before, probably in this thread. The main difference is that some are by the artist known as Banksy and the rest aren't. I'm just surprised there so much hate on the quality. Well I guess it's only by some people. Honestly banksy isn't the greatest technical artist so complaining about a reproduction have a slightly different over spray is pretty lame to me... Jasper Johns 🇺🇸 Painter • Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by mla on Jul 13, 2017 17:54:24 GMT 1, To be frank, I think you're delusional.
(1) They are clearly labelled on the reverse as facsimiles of the original prints (2) There is a logo in the image to again signify that these are reproductions of the original print run (3) As clearly stated on the ULAE website, the original intention in printing these was to create a facsimile catalogue (4) ULAE provided further information that John's involvement was simply that he was aware of the project, which as I previously stated, was the creation of a facsimile catalogue, not "fine art prints" (5) The project was scrapped and therefore, was not approved by any means, even as a facsimile catalog, let alone as "fine art prints"
Edit: fixed grammar errors

WCP The West Country Prince, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 16:22:53 GMT 1, The differences are numerous. Beyond the poor replication of the "overspray" effect on the WCP version, the real key to me in in the dress:

Conor Harrington Drawing FS, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 14:04:00 GMT 1, Only someone who is mentally deficient would assert a value of £5000, then reference a piece that sold for more than 3 times as much and think they've proven their point.
The onus is on your to support your value. You've asked others to provide support for their claims, however, those claims amount to nothing more than "you will you not find a similar piece for £5000", which is a negative claim, that I would argue has already been proven by way of the lack of evidence for your initial assertion.
Arguing with you is a fools errand.
In the interest of contributing some actual evidence to the discussion, I would include these two Morning Glory studies auctioned at Artcurial in October of 2016, which both sold for €11,700 including buyer's premium.

Conor Harrington Drawing FS, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 12:59:42 GMT 1, I have not made any assertions about the price in this thread. All I've done is asked you to support the ones that you have made, as they could have a potentially detrimental impact on the original poster's ability to sell the work in question.
This line inquiry has already demonstrated that you haven't a clue what you're talking about, so it serves it's purpose, in that no one will view your comments as being from a credible source.
Best of luck with the sale, disappointed.

Conor Harrington Drawing FS, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 12:30:56 GMT 1, I don't need to review the catalogue. The point I'm making is that the hammer is always far more relevant in determining market value than the estimate.

Conor Harrington Drawing FS, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 11:55:26 GMT 1, Do you not understand how auctions work? Estimates are set low to entice bidding.
If I see a Banksy GWB at auction with an estimate of 20k and it goes for 50K, is it worth 50K, or 20K because that's what the pre-auction estimate was?

Conor Harrington Drawing FS, by mla on Jul 13, 2017 11:51:00 GMT 1, Do you have any valid comparisons that back your assertions in this thread? Yes. But remember this is a forum not a bloody court of law. I have the catalogue- guide price £5k.
So you've got nothing then? The only piece you've presented makes the drawing being sold here look like a bargain.
