Ezra Salehi, by RoboJ on Nov 13, 2020 11:27:50 GMT 1, Beautiful work. I love the calming colours you've used and the narrative works really well. The first 2 work well for me personally as I feel the character is venturing ever so slightly into the valley of uncanny so would be less likely to be something I could hang if you want my honest opinion. Its just my personal preference and why though so I'm sure others will have their favourites too. Best of luck and keep painting!

Constructive Criticism, by RoboJ on Nov 12, 2020 17:39:32 GMT 1, Hey Stender, Brave of you to ask for criticism but it's definitely a necessary part of the process in figuring out what your target market would want to buy. I think it's best practice as a new artist to only make originals to start. Spend hours on each one, nit pick and modify each one until you are satisfied with it as a finished product. You may go through a lot of ideas and only want to publish the best ones to your website and instagram. Try to sell originals to start at a reasonable price. If people like it and it's good value then they will buy it. You need to sell out of originals to up your price and your versions. You'll then get to a point where you will get a fanbase and they will request what prints to make based on which originals they wish they got when they sold out earlier. Personally I would get away from mimicking any other artist. I understand it pastiche but you need to make your own content with your own messages. As a buyer I would much rather have an original from a new artist then some overpriced high volumed print. All the best on the climb, enjoy this time in your career to try different ideas and find your style. Totally Agree. Problem is i'm not that talented. I'm a digital person and it doesn't really translate to canvas that easily. Im trying not to go down the giclee print route as well. Funny enough I screen printed a couple of Pablos onto canvas which I was planning to leaf and paint. Not sure i'll bother now :-)
Who cares if youโre technically good? Not many are to be honest, myself included. I create art that helps me to think about how I feel in the world. Once itโs create it almost doesnโt matter if it sells or goes in the bin. It was the creating it that is the important bit for me. You need to decide are you creating art or a product to sell? If youโre focused on making something to sell, and thatโs absolutely fine, you need to think more about marketing and your customer base. Bait the hook to suit the fish. If you want to create art, create what you love and enjoy and makes sense to you. If others like it thatโs lovely too. I hope this helps

Mason Storm ๐ฌ๐ง New Print Release โข Who is Mason Storm?, by RoboJ on Nov 10, 2020 10:14:27 GMT 1, Thatโs what it seems to me. Depending on which it is would change how I feel about the piece. Out of interest, could I ask why? To me the only difference between those scenarios is the potential future value of the print if indeed it is proven that Mason was involved in the original Banksy piece. Neither scenario takes away from the fact that this is a highly skilled work of art, be it from the โoriginalโ artist or in fact a good copy. Surely if you like the art for what it is, then buy it and enjoy it. If not, move on. Just my view on this, not looking for an argument, just genuinely interested in this point of view.
To me itโs more about what is art. As weโre all here I think we can agree itโs not the technical skill of urban art that draws us here but the concepts and narratives behind each piece. For this monkey parliament piece if this is a copy of somebody elseโs work it isnโt of interest to me. I could buy something technically better if that was whatโs important. However if this is actually Masons art then Iโd like to support it as itโs a great piece. I hope this makes sense?

Mason Storm ๐ฌ๐ง New Print Release โข Who is Mason Storm?, by RoboJ on Nov 10, 2020 0:24:12 GMT 1, 2 possible scenarios: 1) Mason was part of the Banksy collective that created Monkey Parliament and for some reason has decided to break rank (and certainly an NDA), as well as making it so he surely could never be in the collective again,so that he can sell out a print 2) Mason wasn't part of the Banksy collective that created Monkey Parliament, and has copied the image so that he can sell out a print.
Thatโs what it seems to me. Depending on which it is would change how I feel about the piece.

Mason Storm ๐ฌ๐ง New Print Release โข Who is Mason Storm?, by RoboJ on Nov 9, 2020 23:20:45 GMT 1, Itโs pretty much accepted that with the many different styles used over the years that Banksy is also a collective of other artists. I doubt we will ever find out the names of the other contributors. There will always be speculation and there will always be smoke and mirrors from those wishing to ride the Banksy coattails. As far as I can see, no one has claimed that Mason Storm is associated with the original, although Iโm sure there are plenty here wishing to buy into this thinking that they are buying into the Banksy story, just as they did with Outis and Gonefellow (I like Gonefellow). As for this image, I like it and hope to get one. For those that donโt like it, donโt buy it, move on.
Thank you, I understand that but if thatโs the case why are people not up in arms that he is producing a copy of Banksy's work unless he is somehow authorised to do so/already owns the image.

Mason Storm ๐ฌ๐ง New Print Release โข Who is Mason Storm?, by RoboJ on Nov 9, 2020 22:37:40 GMT 1, Why are people demanding answers and certainty from a forum of random collectors and speculators? ๐คทโโ๏ธ ๐ The gallery and the artist are easy accessible by all their sociaLmedia platforms and have been responding to questions promptly, I am sure they can answer these challenging questions here
Just I donโt know the back story and from peopleโs comments it seems a little merky at best. Iโm just asking what is the situation with this specific painting. Either mason painted the original or heโs copied Banksy? I donโt know thatโs why I wondered?

Mason Storm ๐ฌ๐ง New Print Release โข Who is Mason Storm?, by RoboJ on Nov 9, 2020 22:00:39 GMT 1, Can somebody be clear on what this is please? What was the agreement with Mason, anybody else and banksy? Did mason paint monkey parliament first then let Banksy copy the image? Whatโs the crack because itโs really not clear what this actually is.

Andy Warhol ๐บ๐ธ Real or Fake? โข Sunday B. Morning Print, by RoboJ on Nov 2, 2020 22:48:56 GMT 1, Does anyone have any entry level Warhol pieces for sale or quality ephemera? Anyone have good leads to source this stuff? Does anyone know of a good guide for collecting this stuff? Thanks! What is your budget? You'd be surprised what you can buy for a relatively small sum. I'd recommend avoiding Sunday B Morning, they are little more than reproductions, fine if you want decoration, but frankly not worth the time, or money.ย
Am I right in thinking the Sunday B Morning prints are the actual screen prints from the originals and were licensed to be produced after but then they fell out? After that they were legally allowed to continue printing them?

Auction vs Private sale value, by RoboJ on Oct 28, 2020 11:23:19 GMT 1, The bigger issue with all auction houses is that in the UK they all have to add 20% VAT to anything that is sold, significantly increasing the price. A private sale between 2 people does not requite VAT to be paid (unless you are a private dealer with a registered business buying and selling art) They only have to add VAT to the Buyers Premium. Not to the price of the item itself. Hammer 1000 BP 25% = 250 VAT 20% = 50 Total for buyer : 1300 So the VAT only adds 5% to the total. A private sale does not include BP or VAT, so there is a 30% difference there. In general BP is considered part of the value of the piece (although opinions differ here) so a private sale of the example above might be 1100 - 1200.... There could be 4% ARR to be paid to the artist as well, but that is generally not determined as value to the piece.
The value is what ever the buyer agreed to pay. Itโs irrelevant if they bought at an auction or privately. The thing to bare in mind if youโre a buyer looking for a deal is that an auction price is the highest value people in the room thought the item was on that given day. With this in mind buying privately you should be able to get a little cheaper based on not everyone at the auction felt the item was worth that much. The Caveat being if thereโs an upward trend then the next time an auction comes around the people in the room will have raised their value of the item and so the prices will be higher. Hope this makes sense

Auction vs Private sale value, by RoboJ on Oct 27, 2020 21:45:07 GMT 1, Ultimately itโs what youโre prepared to pay verses what youโre prepared to accept. Fees and percentages from auctions are irrelevant. The seller had no say in what they were paid but thereโs the advantage of having attention on your sale. Personally I wouldnt sell at auction unless I wanted the piece of mind of the auction house dealing with the hand over/finances. If youโre a buyer of course try and get a good deal and only pay what youโre comfortable with. If youโre a seller itโs irrelevant what people tell you itโs worth. You have to sell for what feels right to you and if nobody buys it that tells you where youโre at.

Chiswick โข Urban Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by RoboJ on Oct 26, 2020 17:15:49 GMT 1, Astonishing of Chiswick to include blatantly fake Banksy work. Banksy has a statement about supposed Dismaland work on his site so that categorically proves this work to be fake.

Banksy funds Refugee Rescue boat, by RoboJ on Oct 23, 2020 13:28:07 GMT 1, www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/wmr_2020.pdfBy having the banksy boat it may have increased deaths Migrants would be of the assumption that they will Be intercepted by the banksy boat As this would have been spread by the Successful rescued migrants , The boats current position may not be known to the migrants ? so potentially more people could be making the crossing assuming they will be rescued by the banksy boat Wasted money as all countries involved are against the migrant crossings and the money spent on the boat could of benefited other charities in the form of clothing and food which many that are successful on the crossing need and at present the boat is idle Good intentions but wasted in my view If sold now after only one rescue think may create negative press
Migrants are in a desperate situation. I donโt feel they would be making a decision to go to sea just because Banksy has a boat out there to rescue them. I bet most migrants donโt know how big the problem is and likely donโt know just how risky it is.

New Banksy in Nottingham , by RoboJ on Oct 17, 2020 11:35:31 GMT 1, It looked like a Banksy from the the technique, the only off point was the pixelated stencil. I wonder why the image is so pixelated? Is it part of the image as it doesnโt make any sense.

Banksy โข Weston Super Mare Print, by RoboJ on Oct 8, 2020 11:54:20 GMT 1, Family first matey, it's only a bit of paper with a pretty picture on. I suspect lots of people will cash in on the back of recent sales...me included. Hard not to be tempted. Congrats on the sale. It's a difficult one, especially with prices rising so fast and it feels like its more likely to go up/stay up than crash. I've had offers, waiting to hear back from a few more before I make a decision either way. Lets see. I know one is coming up for auction soon too

Banksy โข Weston Super Mare Print, by RoboJ on Oct 8, 2020 11:38:37 GMT 1, Make sure you delete your account and do not check prices after you have sold ๐unless you hear the market has crashed after you have sold !๐ one of the affordable prints in times past , like all the prints now ,they are in a different league .๐ I know, it'll be sad to see it go as this was my first Banksy. But then I have a young family too...

Banksy โข Weston Super Mare Print, by RoboJ on Oct 7, 2020 17:14:04 GMT 1, Thank you for the PM's already. Already been offered the amount so I want to be fair to everyone as I don't want to treat this place like ebay. I think I need to put a time on it and say which ever offer is the best by that point can have it. Really appreciate it thank you.

Banksy โข Weston Super Mare Print, by RoboJ on Oct 7, 2020 15:59:40 GMT 1, Hi All
As much as I love it and really don't want to sell, the money that could be raised would do a lot for my family so I have here my unsigned Banksy Western Supermare. Framed by MFM with full UV protection. PC COA in hand and in my name and have records going back to the original owner. Its a really lovely piece, excellent condition. I can provide forum references. UK based in Birmingham. Deal only in person please. I'll consider offers over ยฃ30k, I know there is one in auction coming up which I'm sure will obliterate this.
I'm sure I'll regret this but putting the feelers out there. Thank you
