Antony Micallef Peacekeeper, by dismalandbland on Apr 13, 2017 22:07:57 GMT 1, These were printed at the Curwen Studio.
The studio usually keep an archive of pieces they have printed. It looks like this came from there.
I think I have seen this one before. I've also owned a Printer's Proof of this piece in the past.
So, we probably have the main edition, APs, PPs and these Studio Archive versions.

Adam neate on ebay, by dismalandbland on Feb 27, 2017 14:50:57 GMT 1, Elms have stated to me that they will not act to support the artist's secondary market. They won't even buy-back-in pieces that they have previously sold. This results in them being offered on the secondary and being very visibly sold way below primary.
I don't buy art to make money, but, for the everyday man (that includes me) we do need to think before we spend lots of cash on what are, undeniably, luxuries. His pieces are selling at significant sums. If when buying you are effectively being asked to just flush that sum down the pan, common sense takes over.
I love Adam's work, but, the above has prevented me from buying works at primary.

Donuts, VLH, Applause, Retna , by dismalandbland on Dec 5, 2016 15:52:49 GMT 1, Here's the condition report for the Very Little Helps: Pale foxing to the sheet predominantly visible in the margins and verso. Two visible linear marks in blue and one in Tesco flag. A soft vertical 2cm crease along right sheet edge. A soft vertical 14cm crease along left sheet edge. A few handling creases to the sheet, one handling crease to upper left in blue, one handling crease to upper right in blue, one handling crease to lower left corner in margin. Four short horizontal creases in right margin. Taped to front mount at three places along upper sheet edge and at one place at middle of lower sheet edge verso. Otherwise in good condition.
Surprises me that. The early screen prints were effectively student wall posters. At the prices they sold at and with the Banksy name in its relative infancy, I can understand many having significant condition issues, but, by the time VLH comes around, the Banksy market is in fervour. You have to apply for the chance to win this print and if lucky you then have to pay a significant amount of money. If you don't win and you really want it, you were paying triple release price on the secondary market.
For that to end with a print with those kind of condition issues I find fascinating.

can we dispel the notion that lower print # means anything?, by dismalandbland on Oct 31, 2016 16:40:10 GMT 1, For certain methods of printing, it used to be that lower number prints were prized. In tne example of screen printing, the logic being that the screen would get clogged over time and therefore the image lose definition.
I imagine though that printing techniques have improved and this is no longer the case.
BTW - to the OP, this question crops up on here every couple of years or so. There are bound to be a few threads on it if you do a search.

Conor Harrington, by dismalandbland on Oct 1, 2016 23:38:51 GMT 1, What has happened to this place !? Without the knwowledgable and experienced members who are getting fewer by the day this place will be a very hollow empty place - seems a steep price to pay for the sake of increased traffic and eBay click through payments.....what good is this place if the real knowledge and experience is driven out by ignorant, arrogant people who care only for themselves it's laughable that all these new members that are so quick to throw the insults around without a moments thought or consideration will be asking for advice from the same trusted and well informed few in a months time and bitching that no one is answering them With all due respect to Coach and one or two others, the vast majority of 'knowledgeable members' left around 2008, long before many current five-star members had even joined. The recurring question of "what's happened to this place" has been regurgitated ad nauseum for nigh on ten years. Unfortunately, each time the question comes around, the baseline has dropped another level.
If the forum's quality since 2007 was plotted on a graph, the downward trajectory would be a mirror reflection of the price of Banksy prints over the same period.

Has anyone every purchased a piece with a partner before?, by dismalandbland on Aug 19, 2016 23:31:34 GMT 1, My advice (for what it's worth) would be not to do it.
One of you will tire of either the image, or having funds tied up, earlier than the other.
At that point, no matter how strong the friendship, and how amicable the resolution, a seed of resentment will have been sowed.
If you really are good friends. I'd value that higher. Don't do it.

Banksy Tesco Petrol Bomb/Soup Can authentication, by dismalandbland on Aug 15, 2016 1:07:22 GMT 1, Hard to say. They were threpunce halfpenny back in the day (well, ten quid).
Now, who knows?
As the signed and unsigned screen prints have reached the point where only the affluent can afford them, the lithographs become a more affordable entry point for the collectors who we welcome to this passionate club.
I have a soupcans litho under a bed somewhere. Sounds like it's time to either get it framed, or get it sold, :-)

Shepard Fairey Artwork, VALUATION, by dismalandbland on Aug 14, 2016 22:00:03 GMT 1, Well, in that case, I'd say it comes down to how much you want this piece on your wall.
The price (to me at least) looks reasonable, but, ยฃ500 is a fair wad of anyone's money.
Make sure you really, really want it before you commit and buy. (I would advise that whatever you were buying.)

Shepard Fairey Artwork, VALUATION, by dismalandbland on Aug 14, 2016 21:44:05 GMT 1, I would say that depends on condition and whether it is framed.
It is an iconic SF piece, up there with Peace Tree and others of that era.
If the condition is very good, I would say that is a better than market price.
Just make sure it is the screen print rather than the lithograph.

FS: Shepard Fairey -Original Fine Art Stencil on Collage 1/1, by dismalandbland on Aug 10, 2016 9:50:35 GMT 1, A holy grail piece for me. I have the screen print, but, this is in another league.
I did look to pick this up (or the same imagery, but a different size) at auction a few years ago, but wasn't able to.
Unfortunately out of my range at the moment.
Best of luck with the sale.

solidARTy.org - art fundraiser project, by dismalandbland on Jun 27, 2016 11:26:22 GMT 1, When humanitarian crises such as the Syria situation arise, most people read the stories and, beacause we are all human, we feel - to a lesser or greater extent - their pain and suffering.
However, beyond popping a few quid in a collection tin, very few of us (me included) actually do anything about it.
From what I have seen over the past few months, it is evident that sal has. The effort he has gone too is unbelievable... Having an idea, taking a passion and bulding the site, contacting artists, publicising the auctions, getting money off to charities... It is all incredibly humbling and makes me wish I was a better person.
In addition, everyone who has bought a piece from the auctions has also made a difference. That includes the buyer in this instance, who has to be applauded for putting his hand in his pocket and committing to buy.
However, Having just checked social media, I can see a post of two that I assume are from the buyer in question. They are, unfortunately, destroying the benefit they created through their purchase. Not only that, but they risk badly damaging an entire initiative that is evidently doing some good for people in worse positions than the rest of us - and that's a real shame.
So, I've hjust been thinking... How can I get off my arse and make difference?
So, here's an offer to the buyer...
... It's obvious that you aren't entirely happy with the item that you won. That's a real shame. It sounds like the item is as the artist intended, but, evidently now that you've received it, you aren't over the moon with it.
... You have expressed that a financial recompense (100 euros?) would offset your unhappiness.
... So, here's my offer, my bit to try and make a difference...
... I have 150euros that I am happy to donate. You (the buyer) decide the split between you and the charity. 50 / 50? You take the lot? You decide. I'll do whatever you want.
... My only ask? Please delete any comments that are potentially damaging to the charity and that may reduce the likelihood of people giving good money, to people who really need it, in the future.
I am conscious that I don't have many posts, so my motives might be questioned. There is honestly nothing more than a desire to help. I am known by many on here and was a member under a different name from 2008 until the cnh'gate debacle a few months back.
Let me know how you want to move forward (by PM if you want).
Thanks,
A.
