suitable for a youngsters room..., by RetroCanvas on Aug 20, 2007 18:39:56 GMT 1, Commission an Original acrylic painting from retrocanvas!
Then you'll get exactly what you want
retro
Hi all - It's my son's first birthday soon and I'm thinking of getting him a print for his bedroom wall. Does anybody have any pointers for where I might be able to find something suitable. Limited print run is always nice but it doesn't have to be. many thanks in advance

The way forward for Banksy/POW releases.., by RetroCanvas on Aug 5, 2007 23:23:43 GMT 1, I couldn't agree more AB, also, its a nice space filler, a corker for £10
Retro
I have the soup can poster all framed up. The best thing about it is, I don't really have to worry about preserving it, so a frame from IKEA was all that was needed! Messed it up? No worries, I'll just buy another one from POW! It's absolutely liberating!

My INVADER Pride and Joy!, by RetroCanvas on Mar 16, 2007 16:01:49 GMT 1, I'me very, very jealous.
Retro
Hey all, Thought I should post some pics of my new INVADER Pride and Joy that I just got back from the framers!! Great story too. Went for a skate through the neighborhood a couple weeks back and happened upon this little animal humane society outpost thingy that I walk by everyday on the way to the subway and noticed a t-shirt in the window that caught my attention. I'd never actually been into the store before so I decided I should check it out and show them some support since my girlfriend is a big animal lover. Anyway, The entrance to the store is set in below street-level and as I'm walking down I noticed that they had kind of a cool doormat -- then it hit me -- holy s**t -- that's an invader piece that they're using as a doormat!!! I totally disregarded the shirt idea and went in asking about the invader doormat. they had no idea what I was on about only that it showed up down there about a year ago and it kind of worked as a doormat -- I told them Invader is a famous streetartist and they didn't really get it, but decided that since I liked it so much I could have it!! I offered up some cash but they weren't interested so I bought two t-shirts as a sort of donation.. in a way. Brought it home to the apartment -- girlfriend was stoked about the shirts and then thought I was disgusting for even touching the invader piece from literally the streets of New York and the rest is history. J

Did Micallef Just Buy Banksy?, by RetroCanvas on Jan 4, 2007 1:19:30 GMT 1, Surely doing that would incur many fees. Selling fees, listing fees etc. Making the exercise not worth while.
Retro
it seems like this guy on ebay is one of the many people that have two alias' (atleast)... they bid on their own items giving them a False value... Eg... they bid on an Applause at £800... once its done 3 or 4 times, people look at eBay and assume that an Applause has a "value" of £800, then then relist and sell their item making alot more money. There is a technical word for them.... C U N T S

Well I doubt he will get much for it. Hopefully it will be removed from the bay. I feel sorry that he was robbed but ripping someone else off is just bad. Retro could be the same person for all I know, I remember we tried to warn everyone bidding on it, *police* even had a listing up next to it photoshopped to say "wrong un" ;D anyone bidding will be invited to join the group I imagine.

What an arsehole, putting it on here, not getting the answers he wanted then listing it as the real deal on eBay. The ribbons are wrong, the lettering is wrong, the sig is duff, it's a pile of s**te. I hope no-one's stupid enough to bid on this. yep, and he knows full well it's dodgy.. it was on ebay back in june cgi.ebay.co.uk/BANKSY-SIGNED-WRONG-WAR-PLACARD-FROM-2003_W0QQitemZ6634924108QQcategoryZ360QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemHe was told then it was dodgy too, maybe this is the person who bought it ? f**king cheeky coming on here first..then sticking it on ebay.

Banksy at Glastonbury, by RetroCanvas on Jun 14, 2007 15:08:32 GMT 1, I wonder if it's been nicked yet? It may be guarded
Retro
It's good see that the press stories of Banksy having a year off are incorrect, though I have to say that I don't find his latest foray into installation art particularly inspiring. From this article, one would assume that this piece was created with the permission of Michael Eavis. If so, it's not even a stunt.

Genuine????????, by RetroCanvas on Nov 6, 2006 22:02:50 GMT 1, I think what gives it away is: "Official Banksy Drilling Rat Canvas (Signed, Numbered & Stamped)" Then at the bottom of the listing: "Of course I can't Prove that this is an Official Banksy" Junk.
You cant stamp a canvas either. LOL

Well I think it's time we had a new Print!, by RetroCanvas on Jun 14, 2006 12:32:33 GMT 1, ..... and if we do every tom d**k and fing harry will be out to make a fast buck and buy 20! knowing a week after they sell out they will be for sale for 3 times the original price....... he should do a print taking the piss out of the fact that this is going to happed!
People will buy anything to make a fast buck and I'm sure that Banksy doesn't really care about that. As an artists myself, it's not just about releasing a print/painting because you have to. You wouldn't get Eminem bring out a crap song just because he hasn't for a while.
It's hard to explain but I suppose my view is that I'd rather wait for a new print to come out in its own time. I may not even buy it but at least you know its not a money making scheme by POW and Banksy.
Also, why do we need loads of prints when there are books and photo's on the net to remind us of his work.
I'd rather see the original street art continue, as it has done over the last few months. This is why we're interested in it (i assume) and no one can moan about people making money out of banksy, unless they steal the wall he's used. And we all get our Banksy fix
Any questions? :-)

It is rated quite highly, but still ridiculously underrated: Jamie Hewlett "Kid" An epic stunner that, IMO, pisses on most of the pieces people refer to as classics.

It is a shame.

Just wanted to get a few opions from you on this. With all the madness that proceeds a new banksy print (especially with monday in mind) do you think if banksy released a very poor image ie: a exact copy of zeus's impact or error system that you would still buy it??? This is not a dig at anyone i just wanted to know if the cult of banksy has become bigger than the art? Cheers.

Help Please Is This Real?, by RetroCanvas on Apr 23, 2007 18:54:05 GMT 1, I think that the white highlights are where the paper stencil has been kept on too long. The paint has dried and the paper has stuck to it. The finish would be different if it had a white layer underneath.
Fake!
retro
I'd say a very resounding no, looks brand new. Both boxes with rats I've evr seen had been there for years and were rightly battered. Also, this looks like a two layer stencil, the white highlights look really off, if you were cutting this as a 2 layer, then you'd fill out all, the parts that show the background. i.e, you'd make it black and white. A far as I know, the rat stencils are single layer, black, designed for quick hits.
