What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eye like on Mar 14, 2022 23:33:02 GMT 1, I think this is the tune that got me into graffiti....saw it on "Style Wars" when I was a nipper.... Saw them live in Hammersmith when they first came to London in 86 I think it was. They blew the roof off the place, still one of the best gigs Iโve ever seen.
This is an absolute tune too!

Photography releases thread, by eye like on Nov 8, 2021 12:23:00 GMT 1, http://instagr.am/p/CV_1XCotyKH wax-face.com/glenefriedmanGlen E. Friedman high quality poster prints being sold for the first time ever, to fund his Worldwide exhibitions High quality poster prints, will be sold for the first time ever, to help fund exhibitions of my work worldwide. Iconic images of Tony Alva, Bad Brains, Beastie Boys, Bones Brigade, Black Flag, and Public Enemy will be included in this drop. The sale will directly fund the photography exhibitions in cities around the world. The limited edition GICLEE prints are printed on exceptional โHahnemuhle FineArt Baryta a-Cellulose Bright White High Gloss archival paperโ 325 gsm (18โโ x 24โโ / A2). Each individual print will be numbered and come with a seal on the back signed. Only 500 copies of each image will be created. Following on from our successful exhibition with ATP in London in 2014 / 2015, we plan to once again join forces for this worldwide project with the same DIY ethic as the MY RULES, Covent Garden full building exhibition. Plans for the exhibition to travel to Barcelona, Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Tokyo, Melbourne, Los Angeles and New York City are already in the works. Crowd sourcing revenue to make these happen via print sales keeps the integrity of the show at a premium. Each supporter who purchases a print will be contacted when the shows are confirmed and invited to choose which city they would like to attend the pre-opening night, showing. Glen Friedman will be attending these special openings and can personalise any prints that people have purchased. Thanks for this, snagged one! Will go very nicely with my Ricky Powell pic of the Boys!

NFT Art , by eye like on Nov 3, 2021 23:39:21 GMT 1, Could you perhaps write a correct version for the simple folk to understand? Thanks. It is difficult to explain the technology of NFTs in one post in a way that "simple folk" will accept. It is like asking someone to explain the invention of digital file storage, and is usually met with "but why can't i just use a filing cabinet" type questions that reflect stubbornness more than an attempt to understand. The problem most have with understanding NFTs is becoming acclimated to the idea of owning a digital asset, particularly digital art. I can assure you it is something that is not going away, ever. Facebook is rebranding to Meta for a reason. Digital assets are the future. And digital art is the next stage of art history. Are there scams in the space? Yes, in the same way there are scams in the art world or any space with money involved. Find the non-scams. To dismiss the entire technology and space as a scam is very ignorant. The blockchain allows for digital art to be commodified via NFTs. It is as though someone flipped a light switch, and suddenly digital art can be bought/sold, and digital artists have a way to sell art. There are some mediocre artists gaining recognition, and there is surely a market frenzy. There are also some great artists out there, many of whom have not gained recognition yet. The sooner everyone gains an understanding of the technology, the happier they will be. Until then, they will remain frustrated, calling everything scams, and thinking the entire space a lie. Because they aren't even trying to learn a new concept, at all. They are trying to show how their understanding of the world proves the concept wrong, even though it is their understanding that is wrong. Thanks for this, itโs one of the first sensible โexplanationsโ of the NFT phenomena Iโve read on here.
However, what Iโm struggling with is the seeming lack of what I would consider to be genuinely innovative art using this new digital medium (with the notable exception of Hirst because of the sheer scale and concept). And I get that we all have a different perspective on whatโs good, but you must surely agree that even some very credible artists seem to be releasing work which frankly they should be embarrassed about (the Jordy Kerwick this week for example), which just feels like a lazy cash grab.
If there are some great artists out there (and Iโm sure you are right when you say that) would you be so kind as to share some of their work? I would love to see something which is exciting enough to make me want to embrace this brave new world!

Art News Exhibitions Museums Releases, by eye like on Oct 30, 2021 22:42:50 GMT 1, Thanks for posting, the video showing how they made it is great! Something very satisfying about watching him turning that wheel to print it out. It would be such a shame if these processes were to die out in the face of a tidal wave of godawful NFTs....

Brexit

Brexit, by eye like on Oct 3, 2021 11:40:33 GMT 1, These letters were sent to german households over here. WTF. ๐ณ Thousand households received the letter in Germany today. I listened to a radio 4 interview with a polish hgv driver, who was understandably furious at the idea of a temporary visa. Words the the effect that he felt he was told he was not welcome, then is asked back for a few months to help, then will he told heโs not welcome again. He compared it to dogs not being just for Christmas. I had sympathy with him. Couldn't agree more. The idea that there are thousands of drivers just sat there waiting to help us in our hour of need after we ceremoniously booted them out, is not only ludicrous but massively condescending. The arrogance of this government is only exceeded by their incompetence.

The Best Film Ever, by eye like on Aug 26, 2021 16:21:20 GMT 1, Last Breath (Netflix) is an exceptional documentary film. Gripping watch. Hereโs the trailer, but I actually recommend watching the film without seeing the trailer first. I enjoyed not knowing what was coming. I completely agree!! There aren't many films (and especially documentaries) that make me gasp out loud but this was one. Totally breathtaking (no pun intended).
In a completely different vein, but an equally watchable and beautifully shot documentary was My Octopus Teacher. The concept seems a bit bizarre, but the relationship that develops between the diver and the octopus is not only surprising but very emotional to watch. It also convinced me to never eat octopus ever again!!

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eye like on Jun 13, 2021 0:00:31 GMT 1, The star that never shone, but then did, at least a little. Rodriguez. Great lyricist and singer. If you havenโt seen the documentary about his life, itโs a must watch film. Absolutely fascinating. I have listened to his music for a while, but only recently knew the whole story of his flabbergasting life after seeing the film. My favourite: And probably his most popular: Agreed, the film is terrific, and just the most bizarre story. You literally couldnโt make it up!
I saw him live in London shortly after the film came out, he was quite frail but blew everybody away the moment he started to sing. I havenโt listened to him for a while, thanks for the reminder!

I can't find any recent sales of these and its obviously very different to his tagged work so I can't use those as a guide.

It's hard to tell, have you used glass or is the piece just hung inside the frame?
