Kaws @ the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, by txjaxx on Oct 20, 2016 5:14:23 GMT 1, So happy to have a show like this near Dallas. If you can come, I would highly recommend it. The Modern is a fantastic museum and a beautiful building. Fort Worth has some other great art museums as well. It's the only US showing. Friday the 28th is a late night party with bands and DJs along with the exhibit. KAWS himself gives a lecture in late November.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on Sept 21, 2016 19:39:32 GMT 1, I wish I could see it in person, it would be easier to decide. Also kinda wish there was no border.
Here's mine. I took this with the overhead light on, so apologies for the orange reflection near the top. This print is amazing, and it really comes alive in the light, not just the reflective parts but also the black background. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I were you. (click the pic to take you to the original pic on Flickr and you can see a larger version if you want)

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on Sept 9, 2016 11:53:33 GMT 1, You wouldn't want an original then either because that's how she paints. Most times the image continues around the side of the canvas too, which obviously can't be done on a 2D print. [b Not really, the genes print is central unlike this one!!
Yeah but that's a different style - her wave paintings almost all spill over the edges. The awareness paintings like Royal are self-contained.

Visit LONDON 🏴 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by txjaxx on Aug 30, 2016 23:37:39 GMT 1, Any exciting shows or exhibitions in London from Sept. 1 through 11? I've scoured TimeOut, but I'm sure there are other galleries around that don't get much coverage.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on Jul 14, 2016 21:11:34 GMT 1, I wish they went with a white background instead....the colors are more striking with the white. I heard from Laz that the book has been delayed until Sept-Oct...
Well, to be fair, the originals are on silver canvas. The pro photos they take always wash out the silver so they appear to be white, but in person the silver is way more pronounced. I think the silver makes the colors pop more myself, but that's just my opinion. Stranger to me are the dimensions - the original was a square canvas and the print seems to have added negative space at the top with reduced space on the left. But as it says, work in progress so I guess we'll see.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on Jun 23, 2016 5:24:02 GMT 1, Im waiting for mine to be delivered, small excited. Cool, which one did you get?
Thanks everybody for your comments. I love the combination of the wave style (the background) and the flying awareness style (the foreground). And the gold canvas is a nice change from the more common silver. Unfortunately, due to work at my house, I won't be able to hang it for a few months, so I'll be putting it back in the crate tomorrow to keep it safe. In fact I have to crate up all my artwork this weekend - will miss seeing everything every day as usual.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on Jun 22, 2016 5:21:49 GMT 1, Picked up this one from the show. "Waving Golden Awareness" arrived today. I'm very pleased. It's incredibly textured in the middle/lower section with all the detail. Hard to see in the photos, but one day I'll try to capture it better. I'm also partial to one of the areas in the lower right - looks like a little astronaut to me. Cheers to Katrin and all at Lazarides.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on Jun 13, 2016 18:08:41 GMT 1, Anyone heard anything further about the book?
Regular edition is 75 pounds at Laz (but it'll be on Amazon, so you'll probably save a lot of money ordering it there). Ltd. edition is an edition of 70 with engraved plexiglass cover, 225 pounds Super duper ltd. edition is an edition of 15 with hand-painted cover, 5000 pounds
The names of the editions are completely made up by me. No idea what the limited editions look like, but both are signed and numbered. You'd probably want to contact Laz to get those.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on May 19, 2016 19:05:51 GMT 1, Fabulous images 11 and even better work by Katrin. Selling my original by Katrin and my original by Harland Millar rank right up there on the "stupid" scale. If anyone has the pricelist pdf for this show please hit me up.
Which one did you used to own?

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on May 14, 2016 16:14:11 GMT 1, I didn't see some of these the other night. Was this from a he preview?
Yes, those last two were upstairs on what this American would call the 2nd floor. You can see the wood paneling on the wall, which is how the 2nd floor looks. That's why I was asking in an earlier post if that was open to the public or if it was just open on Wednesday night for the pre-preview.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on May 13, 2016 22:29:27 GMT 1, ... I will need to check, but the blue canvas hung the wrong way up?
Yeah it's shown differently in the catalog. She probably changed her mind on the orientation.
Is the upstairs of the gallery open? It was on Wednesday night and had a few more pieces, but not sure if it was just for that night.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by txjaxx on May 12, 2016 20:52:10 GMT 1, Hi, first post here. Longtime lurker. I'm a big Katrin nut. I have the same name on Instagram if you want to see which ones I have. The smallest are 100x100 cm going up to 150x150, and some 150x130. My good friend who lives in London who I refer to as my London avatar attended the Wednesday night preview, and once I figure out how to post pics here, I will (do I use HTML tags?). No one seems to have taken a pic of my favorite one yet. The book is a very thorough look at her work from the beginning up through the first Circle Culture Gallery show. The newer wave/gravity stuff from the past 1-2 years is not in there. I have a preview copy of the book from November, so there are probably changes to it I don't know about. Still, it's a great book.
