Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by tobeannounced on Feb 25, 2017 16:20:43 GMT 1, The printing quality of them are surprisingly good from the few I have seen. I'm not so keen on the images where you can see the edge of a canvas in the print (munch scream for example), it kind of shatters the illusion somehow. The Dran stamp on the reverse of them is a nice touch and slightly compensates for a lack of signature. Here's one of mine. I've posted this before in another thread, but I like it and don't mind posting again. So great to hear! I was also a bit worried when I saw some of the prints with the edges showing. This is exactly the piece I am looking to buy. There's just something about two cops beating the crap out of each other that's really appealing :-D
Thanks for your input, I'll pull the trigger on it without hesitation now.

Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by tobeannounced on Feb 25, 2017 1:10:31 GMT 1, Do any of you know if the Dran stall in Paris is still open?
It just seems as if there is a continuous flow of prints being made available from flippers, and I was wondering if people where just re-upping every time they sold a print?
Have any of you picked some of them up?
Do they look good "live"?
Even though I find the small formats quite appealing, I've been a bit hesitant, just because I haven't really been able to make out if the prints are actually of good quality and if Drans work transfers well onto smaller format.

Shepard Fairey Print, Canvas, WANTED, by tobeannounced on Feb 25, 2017 0:04:11 GMT 1, Still looking for a "Egalitรฉ, Fraternitรฉ, Libertรฉ" print within the EU, I've only seen them come up from US sellers, but import taxes makes it unreasonably expensive.

Victor Solomon Moonshot VS.001, by tobeannounced on Feb 24, 2017 10:56:09 GMT 1, The phases ("moonshot") print I think would have given me real interest had it mirrored the phases of the moon in an east west rather than a north south. Perhaps I am missing the intention. This is such a good observation, I looked at the print and immediately thought "something is off" - but I couldn't quite put my finger on it... it's really a shame, because the concept of the print is quite good.

Can't create "Art Wanted" threads, by tobeannounced on Feb 22, 2017 20:22:44 GMT 1, Is there a reason that some people can create threads in the "Art Wanted" section, while others can't?
I've figured out that there are dedicated threads for specific artists, but what if you are searching for something that isn't represented in those threads?

Forum member trying to scam me through paypal, by tobeannounced on Feb 17, 2017 19:21:52 GMT 1, If you don't want to do what others have suggested, do this: (it will work, but it sucks)
1. Withdraw all your money from PayPal
2. Close the bank account connected to your account
3. Cancel the credit card connected to your account
Paypal will try to force through a chargeback from your bank account, they won't be able to. They won't do anything about it, and the other guy will never get his money back.
I know it sucks, I know its unethical and everything, but fuck it, you do what you gotta do.

Futura /Powers /Faile /Parra /McGinness /Fairey / Peterson, by tobeannounced on Feb 17, 2017 18:51:31 GMT 1, My post was based on this: urbanartassociation.com/thread/128805/kaws-print-price-check?page=4 There's no argument from me. The smiley face following my post should have been a clear indication of a tongue and cheek statement from my end but I can appreciate things can get lost in translation. Hopefully the info you've imparted with your subsequent response will be of use to other Kaws fans who are after this work. Good luck with your search. Holy-shit-balls-batman! That is one helluva good scoop at 1800$ and it makes me happy to know that good deals are still to be made in this day and age!
I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong and eat my words, and when I re-read my post, I came off waaaaay to defensive, I'm really sorry about that and I'm happy you bothered finding the thread for me, just goes to show, that when you think you know everything, you actually know nothing :-D

Futura /Powers /Faile /Parra /McGinness /Fairey / Peterson, by tobeannounced on Feb 16, 2017 17:09:40 GMT 1, I seem to recall someone nabbed one at auction for under $2000 a few weeks back while this print here didn't exactly sell immediately. Gallery prices are just that. Gallery prices This print went at 2-3K USD 6-7 years ago at auction, being able to get one at this moment in time at 2K USD (through an auction!) seems... too good to be true. The last time I saw it at auction (beginning of 2016), it went for 5K GBP(!), the reason I know, is because I bid on it... here's a link: www.phillips.com/auctions/auction/UK030116 lot 199
I've been on the look-out for it for some time, and the cheapest ones I have come by the last couple of years, went for 4-5K USD (and I just didn't have the funds back then)... Just before christmas I got two offers privately, one from Japan and the other from Norway, and they were both at 8K USD... with taxes, thats just around 10K for me.
Weather or not the print was sold "immediately" is subjective, the way I've read through these comments, the print was sold within 48 hours, through a forum I just can't see it becoming any more "immediate" than that, especially given time to answer inquiries etc.
Just like your first sentiment of me "driving up the price", I often see people "driving down the price", always having a better deal or a better price elsewhere, never really offering proof and always negating peoples ability to do some research by themselves, as if people don't invest time and effort before spending massive amounts of money on something.
Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread in an argument weather or not a print (that is already sold) is worth more or less, but if you do come by this print at 2K, I will gladly give you double, just for the hassle.
And now the only thing I'm wondering, is what this print actually went for :-D
Peace t

Futura /Powers /Faile /Parra /McGinness /Fairey / Peterson, by tobeannounced on Feb 16, 2017 13:39:44 GMT 1, God damnit! I just got one offered last week... at 14K USD. That's plain silly. Are you trying to drive up prices? Run some searches on this site... I don't sell prints, so unfortunately not.
It was a gallery based in Miami - www.gsfineart.com/artists/kaws/warm-regards/
Just re-checked my mail - They offered it for 12,5K USD and with import taxes it would have cost me just under 15K USD - not including shipping.
I know gallery prices are way above the secondary market and they still have it, so it must be off with the pricing... on the other hand, I can see that the OP sold it rather fast and I would have jumped on it straight away at that price, so maybe he could have gotten a bit more... personally, I would back off around the 6-7K mark, but that goes for nearly all my art buys, I just don't have that kind of money to blow.

Progression of Your Art Collection, by tobeannounced on Feb 16, 2017 9:32:06 GMT 1, I started with graffiti on canvases and mixed media (cardboard, aluminium, model trains etc):
Clean2 > DAIM > SEEN > SABE > Cope2 and undeground stuff from Denmark, France and New York.
when I bought a house, I built a dedicated "music shelter" for all my vinyl and hip hop stuff, where I moved all of my graffiti art. As I was searching for new stuff for the main house and I suddenly had massive wall space compared to my small apartment, I quite liked the clean look of framed up prints and started looking into it a bit more.
I started with old graffiti heads turned "limited printers":
HuskMitNavn > Stephen "ESPO" Powers > Todd "REAS" James > Ben Eine > Dran
On the side I got a bit more into "street art", I had always been a bit of a "graffiti purist" thinking that "street art" wasn't "real" and didn't require enough skills. As I saw that street art mostly tackled political and social critique, I started to appreciate it more and more.
Shepard Fairey > Blek Le Rat > Banksy
This led to a couple of other artists...
Barbara Kruger > Hank Willis Thomas
Right now, I'm really into comics, drawings and over the top pop-culture references:
Roy Lichtenstein > Kristian Hammerstad > Lauren YS > Takashi Murakami > Shohei Otomo > Kelly Lu
On the side, I have always had a deep passion for hip hop culture and classic imagery, so as I got older (read: earned more money) I got into fotography:
Chi Modu > Barron Claiborne > Ricky Powell > Danny Clinch > Janette Beckman
Overall for me it's all about the imagery and every piece I have ever bought is on the wall. I follow a lot of artists and appreciate a lot of different artists and styles, but I only find very few pieces that I actually want.

1xRun and archived prints, by tobeannounced on Feb 3, 2017 1:26:40 GMT 1, Do any of you have any experience in buying archived prints from 1xRun? I know they have some of them available through flash-sales etc. and there's actually one going on right now, with some good stuff from SEEN, Milo and Ricky Powell coming through.
But, have any of you contacted them about buying archived prints "on the side"? I have tried writing them, but haven't recieved a reply yet, and got to thinking that somebody in here might have some knowledge on the matter.

Blek Le Rat โข Beggar, by tobeannounced on Jan 22, 2017 15:54:16 GMT 1, I just wanted to chip in, as I actually bought that "unsold" "Beggar In Paris" print off of ebay, we handled it outside of ebay for a small reduction on the price, I was comfortable giving 900+ gbp for it, because I love the print and I had been on the look out for it for quite some time... and it really is STUNNING live.
Anyway, just wanted to give that info, as I often see eBay prices being used for/against a set price, while 90โ
of my purchases through eBay are handled outside of eBay.
Anyway, good luck with the sale and all that, I think you have two really strong pieces.

Banksy โข Monkey Parliament Poster, by tobeannounced on Jan 17, 2017 21:46:10 GMT 1, I am looking to buy a Monkey Parliament poster from The Bristol Museum exhibition in 2009 - if anybody has one, hit me up ;-)
Anyway, there a couple of them on eBay - but also a lot of reproductions, I don't want to make any mistakes, so are there any credible sources that can confirm exactly what measurements the poster should be?
I have seen 2 different measurements pop up on auction sites and I need to know which one is the right one, I know it's just a small difference, and maybe some people are only measuring the picture itself - and not the actual poster, but I just don't want to end up with something that's not legit.
so is it:
24 x 36 inches
or
21 X 33 inches
