Your latest Art Purchase?, by mcgill14 on Jun 28, 2021 22:17:13 GMT 1, Hey Folks hope you are all keeping well. No new buys but a bit of new framing and a rehang of some of my photographs.
1 = Martha Cooper wall. 2 = Got around to framing and hanging the Magnum square photo's I have picked up over the past few years. 3 = Suitcase Joe photo's. He is an amazing man doing great work on LA Skid Row.

Charity Auction for Glasgow Children's Hospital Scanner , by mcgill14 on May 10, 2021 18:44:16 GMT 1, Good Evening Everyone
Firstly I hope that this email finds you and all of your loved ones healthy and well. I thought that you might like an update on how the money raised at the art auction I organised and that many of you supported last year has been used. Through other fundraising we were able to buy the hospital the state of the art Fetal Cardiology Scanner and also a leading edge surgical microscope for use on very small babies. The art auction raised just over ยฃ26000 which was matched by my employer at the time giving a total of just over ยฃ46000.
In collaboration with the hospital I agreed to use this money to fund their financial inclusion service for a period of six months. This is a service that works with the parents of sick children who may be experiencing financial difficulty as a result of their child / children being hospitalised. This could mean loss of earnings, travel costs, temp accommodation etc. At a time when your child is unwell the last thing that you think of is finance and that is where the Financial Inclusion team comes in. They work directly with these parents to access financial support that they may not have been aware was available to them. In the six months from October 2020 to March 2021, which is what you funded, this team secured financial support of ยฃ1,001,282 which I think is trully amazing and is massivley down to your generous support of my crazy project.
I have now retired from work and based on this result I am considering attempting to organise a repeat auction in 2022. If any of you would be keen to support another crazy venture with me and the kids from Glasgow Children's Hospital please shout.
Thank you all once again for the amazing support during 2020 which I appreciate was a mad year for us all. Let's hope that the remainder of 2021 improves and that 2022 is a whole new chapter.

OUT OF HOME PROJECT, by mcgill14 on May 6, 2021 23:39:29 GMT 1, these are great, can you answer a couple of questions or I shall email the website..what is the size of the ltd editon and the two inch border is that included in the stated size or is the size the image size. To be honest it is disappointing seeing such a lack of attention to detail with such a great project with some great prints to buy. I want to know these things, and think may prospective buyers would too, Hi
The print size is 34.5 x 26.5 cm and the actual image size is 24.5 x 16.5 cm. Comes with a CoA which states that my print is one of an edition of 50. This project really needs to be supported, come on UAA I know we can help these guys.

Recommended Art Books, by mcgill14 on Apr 24, 2021 19:19:07 GMT 1, I have nothing against this thread. Quite the contrary! It just seems to me that books have nothing to do here - even if some may find it of interest - sometimes it is about art, even classical, style life, photos, etc. etc. I think - but hey, I don't care too - that we should refocus on street-art or graffiti as the name of this forum suggests. Hirst Wei Wei, ok of course, especially for rare edits .. For other artists, I'm more dubious ... We get lost a bit, it is expensive, and I wonder if we, members, are not concentrating on books, because there is nothing else to buy at the moment, or to put ourselves under. the tooth: poor period for pints or so, too expensive prints ... just a few ideas .. Appreciate your points Lroy, just from my point of view, but a bit late to enjoying this art business, and find via the books, can learn about different artists, their history, and see what they have done. This great thread, highlights many people I didn't know anything about, and if of interest, can find out more quite cost effectively. An example, someone posted about the Don McCullin book, that was great, someone I knew nothing about. Went to the exhibition at the Tate Liverpool, now a person of real fascination, all through someone posting about a book on this thread. I personally also find this thread refreshing as I feel people not using it to primarily make money/flip, or chunter on about values and auction results. Seems like people who enjoy/participate on this thread are genuinely interested in the artists work, highlighted in the books, and keen to discover more. Single handedly the best, least fractious thread on this forum. Just art lovers talking about art books. I have added loads of books to my collection on the basis of this thread. Long may it last.
